For all those who look at the map and say that the advances look small, keep in mind that Ukraine is a big country. It is the almost, almost the size of Texas and is bigger than France. So, when they move into those areas at the speed of 30 miles a day, it looks tiny on the map. Also, they are liberating the place village by village, small town by small town. Again, it looks small from above, but every town freed means no more torture chambers, no more mass graves, no more rapes or looting. The police are back, the cellphone coverage and the Internet is back, the electricity and water are back, etc. The people can get back living normal lives.

At this point, the west is shying away from publicity about the depth of their involvement. Beyond weapons, there are intelligence sharing, military advising, satellite imagery, etc. I know this is not really new. Sun Tsu wrote distinctly about this kind of warfare involving subterfuge and trickery millennia ago. Two things though: (1) Ukraine is giving a splendid example of how it works, and (2) Russia seems to have forgotten the lessons and is getting caught in traps again and again.
@Whoami691
@Whoami691 Рік тому
The same thing was done During D-Day. On the day of the invasions, Britain launched Lancaster Bombers from folkstone to Calais - The narrowest point in the channel (ive stood on folkstone cliffs on a clear day and see Calais off in the distance, thats how close it is) and instead of bombs, they dropped aluminium shards. These shards reflected the raido signals the NAzis used and so what they was was a MASSE of forces heading for Calais. In reality, it was nothing, they pulled many forces away from the Normandy front to fight the calais 'invasions' when in reality there was nothing there.

Evidence is also that Russia knew it didn't have the manpower to hold such a long frontline against Ukraine, especially as they are low on manpower. Oddly enough they decided that a tactical withdrawal to reduce the size of the line wasn't necessary, so they ended up losing several hundred more military vehicles to Ukraine in a hasty retreat. And despite reinforcing and prioritizing the southern line by Kherson, they're still not matching up to Ukrainian numbers, NATO equipment, and most importantly, Ukrainian motivation.

Never in my life did I ever want Russia to be knocked to its knees. I’ve always hoped that the potential for good would be so strong in Russia that they would become full fledged members of the global community and it looked like it was going to happen… But Putin has lead them down the path to hell. The Ukrainians are showing the Russians and the world what they are made out of. I am so deeply impressed with their strategy, discipline, fighting spirit, courage, bravery, self discipline, and excellent command structure. Their sense of purpose is noble and righteous. Breaks my heart for Ukrainian people to have to suffer so much for absolutely nothing and for Russia to be so degraded by an insane leader and a rotten government. Makes me sick for both countries, but I am 100% behind the Ukrainians. I support them completely and I pray for them not to sink to ever treating their Russian POWs without compassion. I’m really proud of them for resisting the urge for bestial revenge even though I totally understand the temptation. I pray for the Ukrainian troops because I can only imagine how terrible it must be for them to find evidence of torture and murder of their own people, The destruction of homes and private property and civilian infrastructure. I know as a human being how I would feel if the people I loved were treated in such a dastardly and depraved manner. There’s a lot of truth to this saying From the Bible: “For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?“ So far everything I have heard is that the Ukrainians refused to relinquish their souls in the process of defeating the Russians. They are ferocious fighters, but not depraved. Just yesterday I saw an on the ground video of Ukrainian soldiers gathering Russian dead and bagging them so that they can be identified later. One of the Ukrainian soldiers could be heard retching in the background. What a horrible duty to have to perform, but I am so glad they are able to do this. I am also so glad that The Ukrainians are treating the captive Russians according to the Geneva convention. Crimes committed by the Russians must be tried in legal courts.

All respect to the general, but he missed out on an important point, or rather, an important explanation of what it meant that the Russians were fooled into thinking the main push would be in the south - the Russians diverted troops and materiel from the north in order to stave off the Ukrainian offensive in the south, leaving the northerly front too thin to hold. THAT'S what the Ukranians took advantage of. And I'm willing to bet the Russians tried to re-shuffle, getting more troops and firepower up north to stop that advance, which with how bad the Russian command structure is, was a logistical mess which threw the southern defensive lines into disarray, which Ukraine also capitalized on. And that's why the southern front started to break, too.
@fgrodriguezqac

@David Oberholzer I have something even bigger the general missed to mention. Ukraine has NO SATELLITE at all, no military or civilian or comercial satellite whatsoever so he forgot to mention how helpful USA has been in providing Ukraine with real time minute by minute satellite information on Russian troop movements, command posts, etc. That kind of Intel was essential for Ukraine to know where and when to attack.

I'm not sure they sent anybody OUT from the west side of Dniepr (Kherson Oblast) after sending them there. It was difficult for troops to leave AND difficult to move any trucks, armored vehicles, or food/ammo/ supplies across the river for weeks. Therefore after Ukraine fought attrition style for a couple weeks near Kherson, putin had men but they were worn out, under-supplied, missing some of the combat vehicles they need, etc

In fact the two fronts are fighting to join up east of the Oskil River in order to advance on Saratov. And finally the most recent advances on the Kherson front which while the gains look small on the large scale country map, in fact represents about 1/3rd of the Russian held territory west of the Dnipro River,. Russia is stuck in the past reliving the glory days of the 1940's. Unfortunately for them their technology and tactics haven't progressed either lol In contrast the Ukrainians are fighting with a revised western style that's adapted to the modern era and with modern weapons with on the ground commanders that have autonomy rather than waiting for every order to come from the top wasting time and men. Adolf Putrid is living in fantasy land. And let's not underestimate the importance of morale on the battle field, the Ukrainians know what they are fighting for and morale is high! They are defending their homes and children and fellow Ukrainians. The Russians have been forced to fight people they don't even hate for some unknown reason and are demoralised. I don't know if Putin is just in denial or just being lied to by all his "yes" men who fear for their lives and their jobs. But it turns out the Russians had weaker lines than they thought. Also keep in mind Russia has a retreating defensive doctrine of artillery fire and miles of trenches to work from. A part of the gained ground in the South was Russia trying to pull the Ukrainians into their artillery fire while sacrificing ground. But Ukraine blew up the Artillery ammo depos and roads so now they have to give up even more ground to maintain their defense. XD

@danielsprouls9458
@danielsprouls9458 Рік тому
I have to agree that the offensive in the south wasn't a feint. It just drew in the best of the Russian army and equipment. This created opportunities in the north. Now with the best of the Russian units with their backs to the river the real destruction of the Russian army is beginning. The Russians should have evacuated the west bank weeks ago. Now there will only be hastily manned units left on most of the front and Ukraine can pick its points of attack at will. It will really suck to be in the Russian army.
@matthewn1805
@matthewn1805 Рік тому
I disagree with the summary, Ukraine is being flexible as you have to be, they moved some forces south for the counter-offensive there whilst retaining heavy weapons in the north, when they saw the Russian response to their preparations the took advantage by mounting the surprise in the north. Yeah, sometimes these retired generals, although great tacticians, have absolutely no idea what is going on in Ukraine, as they do not have access to intelligence. He likely does not have any idea how many troops or weapons that Ukraine has, so it is unfair to say that Ukraine cannot attack two fronts at once. I think they are just different types of offensives. The north was a large scale blitz, made possible by Russians reinforcing Kherson. Ukraine did not just stop attacking the north, rather, they were forced to stop due to a large river cutting the front line in half. They are now continuing the advance across the river, and will likely see even larger swathes of land taken back in the coming days. This is happening at the same time as the Kherson offensive, which is just a bit slower due to the open terrain and increased amount of Russian troops defending it.

Came here for this comment. The Ukrainian generals just noticed where the build up of forces was as a result of the planned push in the south and decided to hit where the Russians had thinned out the line in the north. Easier to do when you have a dynamic force capable of thinking on its feet and deciding tactically at the junior officer level how best to proceed.

Why is the voice always so small, I have to turn my volume all the way up to listen. When I go to other videos, it becomes super loud
