I love tapes! Like last year I made a mixtape full of a bunch of duster and black metal songs (weird mix) and I got high as shit and walked around in my neighborhood at nighttime listening to it. It was awesome.

It would be nice to have a cassette Walkman. Unfortunately, the fact cassettes can deteriorate after 20-30 years is a huge deal breaker for me, to be honest with you. I did turn my old TCL phone into a music player-only, with a few downloaded games (Temple Run 1&2 and Snake are all it have). Doesn’t have lot of storage though.

buy a ''broken'' one for 20 bucks and simply change the belt. its easy. if it turns on but doesnt play its a belt problem most likely. Dont like it anymore? if you bought a early model it might be up 300$ functioning.

Nobody might want to admit it but cassettes are just blatantly outdated and most people who want one probably don’t even have cassettes to begin with. There are so many drawbacks to cassettes, along with the fact that Sony just doesn’t have the right equipment anymore to manufacture them. Sony is still a great company, they just adapted and didn’t stay stuck in a dead market.

But that Sony has been perform less relative to its market. It was dominating in the cassette market, then. Now is still doing well in digital, but not as much in relativity.
