Seems like torque wrenches are unheard of in that country. Loved the way he was blowing that sand all over including into the open ports of the injector rail. Having worked on engines for over 40 years that place is scary.

I am sure that Cummings would like this video for training purposes. of how NOT TO REBUILD an engine. No honing the cylinders and checking for taper, regrinding the crank as wear marks are clearly visible , and the state of the art valve grinder , finally torqueing down the head bolts. If you don't have the right equipment and experience to do the job correctly to factory standards then go find a job in a rice paddy. Sure glad this engine is not used of an aircraft.

I get it, work with what you have and make do. Not everyone has the nicest tools and spray wash cabinets, boring bars, and Sunnen hones. But in all the videos I see of these rebuilds in Asian countries and in the Pakistani Truck channel where they rebuilt engines too, it’s never one guy carefully assembling the engine. It’s always like 3 or more people just attacking it and putting it together as fast as possible. You spent the time to wash it all by hand and scrub it super clean, which I must commend you cause it appears like you did a good job. Hopefully you brushed all the oil galleys off camera to clean and clear them out 😉. Why not take a little time and let one man, your best and most knowledgeable man, do the assembly? Mistakes happen when you rush and 3 people can’t always know/remember what the other guy has or hasn’t done! For that matter, just to give a guy some space, heck the one guy was climbing up all under the dudes armpit to put a bolt in, 🤦‍♂️. That’s the one thing I have to have when I’m rebuilding engines, space and nobody yaping around me. I need to concentrate on the task at hand! But for the most part, you guys did a good job. You guys knew how to take it apart and put it back together, so I’m sure you know you should be torquing bolts to spec and doing other things “by the book”, but we also know as mechanics how to just “get it done, and make it run” with whatever we have on hand! 👍🏻

You’re forgetting the pink elephant in the room in regards to this engine. This is a third world country you’re dealing with where all safety regulations, tolerances, assembly, lube, and methodology don’t exist. I’m really surprised that you didn’t pick up on this. There’s a lesson to be learned in everything in life. And the lesson here is on how NOT to do an engine rebuild. Follow all local, state, and federal laws in protecting yourself when rebuilding an engine. Also invest in a Chilton’s motor manual for further reference in rebuilding said engine

I might be wrong but I think we are using a pair of valve rocker lifter rods, fulcrummed to double as a valve spring compressor - Nice..!!

After we finish making it, we will export it to work on the ship. I don't promise that there will be a video of it running, but I will try.

Da miedo ver esto. Es una descripción gráfica de como tirar el dinero. Vertidos a la naturaleza, holguras en bielas segmentos de varios pistones cruzados nunca vieron una dinamométrica...... Ke locura. Pero eso si quedo bien pintado

New liners, old pistons?!?! I guess salt water doesn't erode aluminum (ring grooves) like in other parts of a ship. Then again, re-machining valve faces and seats by hanging drills off the stems is a new one for me as well. Why did we buy that Kwik Way seat machine again?

No prelube of any of the bearings or pistons? Hmmm. No torque wrench. We didn't see any valve work and all valves were just mixed together.

All is well that ends well. Unfortunately, they didn't start their engine to check if everything was alright. They've marked themselves down.

Easy to see that a paint job is more important a torque wrench. Third world rebuilds leave a lot to be desired. My bet is there is no warranty provided. Who made this engine? I don't recognize it.

There's a warranty, best in the industry; 5 km or five minutes which ever comes first top to bottom, front to back except on wearable parts or items.

No oil or grease on the main or rod bearings & no proper torque settings on bolts. Ring lands are sanded? Crank is a scratched up. All that work gone to waste. Motor unreliable
