I purchased both the medium ukposts.infoUgkxfh2XUOHWYHKQYOvSq2gZ6PyCmVkTFGWz and small speed bags from Meister. I'm very glad I got both as the workout is quite different from the two. The small is fantastic for getting your speed built up once familiar with your striking. The medium bag provides a considerable amount more resistance building more strength in your punches. I highly recommend both sizes.Some people have expressed concern over the latex bladder leaking down more frequently than the traditional rubber. I have not found this to be an issue at all.

Good review. Ring side always good quality. You can take it every were. You don’t need a ceiling. Good recovery workout. Shadow box, hit the Cobra, Jump rope, some push ups, squats and abs. Done, for a 40 year old guy that wants to manage weight and stay healthy.

Some left one of these in the lobby of my building when they moved out. An Everlast model. Almost brand new so I brought it in and gave it a new forever home where it will be cared for and loved, not abandoned. Glad I looked up how to use it though and saw how lightly you can work with it. I def had the impulse to go H.A.M. on it and probably would have shortened the lifespan on a free bag like a dummy. So thanks for the video, now I know what to do.

Yes, work on fundamental punches and head movement. Work on timing the bag coming in and defense like parrying punches or blocking. Also slipping and pivoting is something you can utilize.

To everybody watching this. Mount the base to the ceiling so that the bag is slightly at eye level. It allows you to work the bag and your footwork much better. With the bass on the ground it limits your footwork moving forward and off to the side. Mounting it to the ceiling creates a whole new dynamic

IMO for footwork make sure to be light on your feet and work the fundamentals of lateral movement. Draw an X or tape an X on the floor to make 4 quadrants, get in your stance, and work on using front to back/ side to side movement without crossing your feet. Also use the quadrants to work on pivoting or side stepping. Throw punches as you move to each quadrant. For head movement you can use the slip bag or do defensive partner drills. Focus solely on moving your head to slip, bob and weave. Have someone use those foam noodles to simulate punches and just focus on your anticipation and timing.

Unfortunately not really unless you replace it with a higher tension spring. Problem with the spring being so low it doesn’t allow fast rebound by design

I wanted to add more details on this reflex bag in terms of durability. I've had it for a month now and havent had any issues with it breaking or parts falling off. Will it last forever? Probably not as everything will wear out in due time, but as long as you use it as its intended it "should" last a while. Make sure to keep a good amount of weight on the bottom to keep it solid to the floor to keep vibration to a minimum. Remember that this thing ISN'T a heavy bag, its not meant to take haymaker shots (i've seen guys just wailing on it full power with bad technique, thats what the heavy bag is for), its for speed, timing, and reflexes. I do know there's other competitors (and some newer companies) that are now coming out like "kayoreflex" and "commandoboxingbag" which advertise on Instagram that may be worthwhile as well.

I found that the spring was a bit rigid when I finished putting it together. The rebound did not come close enough to my face and it was slow. I saw in those Ryan Garcia videos how fast it would rebound and how close the ball would get to his face. I pulled the ball down to stretch the string. Was that a bad move?

Thanks for the sub! They’re a little different in terms of feel and rebound. The cobra bag is heavier and when you hit it, rebounds at an arc. It also gives a little better shoulder conditioning because it takes more force for it to rebound faster. The double end bag is faster rebounding and moves horizontally instead of arcing. Also double end bag is much cheaper. I personally prefer the double end bag because of cost and you can adjust the speed of it by how tight you make the bungee straps that attach to the ceiling and ground.

How loud is this thing? You seem to have a similar garage to mine. But my neighbors are like 10 feet away. I know it drives them crazy when I hit the heavy bag, stand and the chain and what not. I’m interested in this but want to make sure it’s not too loud.

how sturdy or noisy would this be if I put as much weight as I can on it AND also put it on top of some exercise flooring? I live on the 3rd floor of an apartment....

As long as you have a minimum of about 150 lbs on the base it should be good in terms of not moving around. When you hit the ball the only thing that really vibrates is the pole holding it. Also depends on your flooring and how sound protective it is, but I think you’ll be fine.

I have everything I need to make this EXCEPT a spring... I can't seem to find anywhere that carries one this large. How long do you think it is and what diameter? I can't even guess how many millimeters the coils are or what strength the coil is, either. Anyone have any suggestions?

It works fine for me, I find a lot of people Who break them are the ones who don’t use it properly and just throw full power punches like haymakers, which it’s not designed for IMO. That’s what the heavy bag is for. Don’t get me wrong you can hit it with power, but the primary goal is to develop timing, hand eye coordination and speed. I still prefer the title one more.

You can hit it as hard as you want; is it intended for that? No. I’m sure Ryan and the canelo team have someone fabricate their cobra bag for them because the unit they use looks custom. Uses a different spring and different bag than this cobra bag. They probably have broken quite a few of them as well. This bag is intended for speed, timing, and reflexes, not for taking haymakers over and over. That’s what the heavy bag is for.

Yes, it has a large plug to allow the water out.

I had an earlier version of this. The one I had absolutely sucked unless you used anchor screws in concrete.

I had that model as well, they improved the anchoring on this model a little bit with the weight filled base.

Does the spring lose tension over time? It would be nice to be able to purchase different tension springs.

I’m sure to a degree it will start to loosen up and not as stiff. So far it has about the same rebound as it did when I first bought it with no issues yet

Free standing style unfortunately no, I havent been a fan of free standing bags mainly because I havent found one that has the composition and rebound that i like. I'd rather spend the money on a standard heavy bag and just hang it up. The ringside tornado looks ok, just not sure its worth the $250

Great review. Have you seen the Ringside reflex heavy bag. Has the same set up but instead with a heavy bag. Looks good for landing the harder shots.

How in the hell do you take the spring off?!?!??!? I want to replace it with a higher tension one and also because I knocked it off axis now it leans to one side from an uppercut and the comeback speed has drastically reduced
