As much as I like Calum Scott’s cover, it doesn’t beat the original in my opinion. The energetic sound and beat contrasted with the heart-wrenching lyrics paints a perfect picture for listeners: A girl alone at the club. Watching the person she loves give his attention to another girl while dancing in pure distress as the club music drowns her out. It’s a messy scene and sad tone that was only created by the original, seeing how the cover opts to just lean fully into the melancholic angle. It lacked the story and juxtaposition that makes Robyn’s version so incredible to me.

Ok let me set this straight. I'm not here to hate or something and I acknowledge the fact that Calum did an amazing cover, he's a fantastic vocalist. But Robyn's original version makes SO much sense. The melody you hear is not what the person singing the lyrics IS LISTENING, watching their lover not giving attention to them. When I hear this song I can figure it out. I'm in the corner of a disco. People are dancing to this song. I see among all those people, the person I love the most dancing, smiling, kissing, with another person. But you can't help to dance. It becomes cathartic. I just love the feeling this version gives to me.
