Anji is a foil to Baiken, two sides of the same coin put through the same traumatic event. Anji chose to seek answers relating to the death of his people, while Baiken chose vengeance, a path that she herself admits will eventually destroy her. So now he fights to rock on and find those answers before he yet again loses the person(s) important to him

Baiken has a unique taunt with Anji, where she demands to know what he’s ‘thinking’. If only she could hear his theme song just literally being all about her and what she means to him. Seriously, even when fighting other people, Anji’s thinking about Baiken. When he’s actually fighting Baiken, how freaking loud is his own song going on inside his head?!

@@Maxclockwork the themes of Strive are essentially a character's inner thoughts. Their ideals and what they fight for. Anji's theme is about how Baiken gives him a reason to go on, meaning whenever he's fighting or putting his life on the line he's thinking about her. And when he's fighting her all he can think about is her, which is what I believe the commenter ment about it being loud. All he can hear is that promise he made to her

Honestly the fact that “Now a single footstep carries two hearts” could be referencing how Baiken basically became Delilah’s guardian and now Anji cares for the two of them while he loves Baiken is really really cute. Anji is a fantastic character, he just wanted answers for the tragedy he went through to heal from the trauma but now he wants them to help Baiken heal too.

Somehow between Anji's interactions with "That Man" in the previous games and the certain sense of amorality he can give off at times, I could totally see him going down a dark road character-wise; the opening riffs to this song definitely help me picture that.

Yeah, even Slayer warned Anji that being 'curious' will just get him into trouble in the long run, and that he'll regret it. Anji didn't even turn away from That Man for real until he realized it'll mean he'll constantly come up against Baiken and he couldn't stand that. Baiken comes across as maybe having a stronger moral compass than Anji in some way, cos it seems like the only thing Anji really cares about is Baiken, and he'll do anything if it helps Baiken. Maybe more accurately, both of them help be each other's 'morality chain' because Baiken doesn't give into revenge and bloodlust because Anji's there to talk her out of it; and Anji doesn't stray too far into amorality because his concern is always primarily Baiken's wellbeing. It's just very sweet how they bring out the best in each other.

A thing i noticed: In Anji's theme,it uses the normal rock instruments that the Guilty Gear songs are known to have. And in Baiken's theme,it uses mostly regional/religional instruments from Japan Yet,in 2:50,it starts to use both of those. Together. Ok yall still think its not abt Anji and Baiken?

While listening to this soundtrack on loop I noticed Baikens theme seems to be some kind of duality keeping the vocals clearly separate until the "if I had a comrade" repose; after which the vocals start all going together and harmonizing (discordantly but still). Now I've never played GG yet, but I took that as her theme involving her going on some self destructive foolish quest and someone trying to catch up to her. Then after the instrumental bit in her song and the repose they catch up and some crazy shit happens with the two of them. I had a feeling it was this guy cause of the instruments used to represent two characters in her theme. As I said I've never played the games or even really knew it existed before last week, so how close am I?

@@catrianheir pretty sure you got it right on the spot. In Guilty Gear Accent Core Plus, Baiken's story got two ending. One where she ended up as a bloodlusted murderer after stabbing I-no over and over again and was confronted by Ky Kiske which is a law officer at that time. In the other end she was confronted by Anji Mito much earlier that managed to convince her to stop her act and both of them ended up traveling together. Also Anji got the same ending btw.

Hot take i guess but like I don't think anji is in love with Baiken. He even calls her "sis" half the time. I think hes close to her because of their friendship and shared trauma after the justice attack. This song to me is Anji recalling a promise he made to a dear friend or lover he lost in the justice attack. He must have been celebrating with them at some sort of festival before it was suddenly interrupted by Justice's attack. His small footsteps are all that remained. To me, this song is about Anji wanting to fulfill a promise to a lost loved one, someone so important to him that he fights to bring honor to his life and theirs. It sucks seeing it reduced so often to "AH I LOVE BAIKEN" when theres a lot more meaning behind his reason to move on. As he fights, his geisha style calls back to the festival where he lost so many he cared deeply about.

Why does no one realize that the lyrics are referencing guilty gears anther story! The line “Now every footstep carries two hearts” references how Delilah and Baiken are both working to give up on revenge together. And the line “I am still chasing one” refers to how Anji still has feelings towards Baiken. The night of lights where no child can sleep, could be referencing the attacks in on japan that shook the whole world, and fueled Baikens whole arc, while the night of darkness where everyone is asleep could reference how no one knew what is happening to Delilah in comparison.

People say Anji is the worst playable character, but I think that no matter the character, if you learn them, you will be dangerous. Also, he is banging Baiken, so like- I don’t really know much about Anji, honestly. I do know his entire family is dead and he did have depression. And this theme is talking about the time he had with someone that changed him for the better. Now it could be talking about Baiken, but it could also be someone who is already dead. But, we just don’t have really anything to go off of. Either way, Anji’s theme is great to listen to and also gives insight on how much he changed from the way earlier games to now. Great vibe, nice drums, and guitar rifts. Definitely great for a rock parade. Certified bop.
