In this video I compare the brand new Rode Wireless Go to the RodeLink Wireless Filmmaker kit. The Rode Link is tiny compared to the Go but it still the more higher end system.

I have used the Rode mic go for 2 years now, indoors and outdoors, I am just going to say this- if you are serious about what you do, don't buy it, battery isn't lasting as long, the built in mic and fur are an absolute pain, it disconnects all the time! The audio quality is not good especially windy days. We did a b roll while I was talking, and the audio kept disconnecting. In cold the battery drains by 50% within the first hour. The rod mic in my opinion is only useful for tiktok and some short Instagram stories. If you are serious about making great videos, get anything else but this. I think the Rode link is probably the better choice. Thanks for the video, well detailed review!

The Wireless Go is honestly as big of a gamechanger for prosumer video as something like an a7s camera IMO, it's so huge having good audio in run and gun situations, potentially even moreso than that low light capability everyone seems to love.

Awesome review Max. Appreciate your in depth reviews and comparisons. You had mentioned that the 3 db levels are 0db, -6db and -12db but looking on the website and manual it lists as 0db, -12db and -24db. I've found on my Sony a6400 that the db on the Rode Go is best at -12db (middle) and between volume 10 and 15 on the Sony. Have you seen the same with Sony's to keep the Rode in the middle and camera volume 1/3 to 1/2 of the maximum? Thanks!

I absolutely love rode wireless go. I preordered mine and received it a few days ago. It is exactly what I’ve been looking for family videos. The price is shockingly low for the sound quality you get. It’s very easy to use. The sound is VERY loud. I have never seen a mic that loud. I can only use it with the lowest db setting and on my Canon 5div, when using auto, I have to enable Attenuator. If you are doing fully manual, there is more possibilities but it is not practical for run and gun type of videos.

@MaksimYuryev
@MaksimYuryev 5 років тому
Keep the GO at 0DB (full volume icon at the bottom right of the display) and then adjust your cameras manual gain to the desired level. I’m not sure how it’s displayed on that one but you want to make sure it doesn’t peak. (Show audio going all the way to the Max or 0DB) if there are decibel markings when adjusting your audio gain set to around 6db for a normal interview or -12db in camera for someone that talks loud and quiet to have more headroom.

I have a couple of these on order and I'm hoping that in a firmware update they can add things like multiple transmitters paired to a single receiver and mute functionality. And as far as range, it's rare that I have talent more than 20 feet from the camera, so as long as it holds a nice, strong signal at rational ranges, I'll be happy. This looks to beat the pants off of other "cheap" wireless mic solutions.

Does the recording device these are connected to make any difference at all. Example, my options would old iPhone 5 (with trrs cable of course) or an Olympus Digital Voice recorder. - The type you might use simply to make notes in class. Also, my planned usage would be narration while cycling so that deadcat really has to perform, but is there any concern with weatherproofing - not necessarily from rain but mostly sweat on a hot day if its clipped to my collar. Im not opposed to a lavalier attached and the rode in a ziplock if people think that would be a better option. Deadcat on lavaliers? Is that a thing?

I hope that RODE will offer the "Wireless Go" in the future with a right and left channel. It would be great for interviews or when two people are talking some distance apart from one another. @astronomylivestream

I saw this item a few weeks before seeing your video about it. I wanted to see a good review on it before buying. I bought it right after your review. I like it even for a few short comings. 1) The mic is kind heavy wearing it on the collar of a shirt... mainly a T-shirt. Even when wearing it on the inside of the T-shirt it can flip over and points to your neck/body, covering the mic. The fix, hang the mic off of a nice small chain. Inside the shirt it wears/hangs nicely. Same with outside the shirt. Outside the shirt you can put the mic in a small felt bag. Still likes nice with a good looking chain. 2) This mic you advertised that works with it. The JK MIC-J 044 Lavalier Lapel Clip On... Not on my side... it picks up to much signal interference that comes and goes... Any advice on another mic? That’s a wrap up. (Your hip and cool when wearing a chain... Peace and Love ✌️)
@MrPoseidonSays
@MrPoseidonSays 4 роки тому
Hi if your clipping the transmitter under your shirt does that shorten the distance of reception rather than clipping it on the outside for clear view of the receiver? Also if its clipped under your shirt does that cause clipping? This is all in short range, probably no more than 30 to 50 feet in my case.

I feel like this could be a firmware addition. I mean, why couldn't a single receiver receive information from two transmitters on the exact same frequency. I have two on order in the hopes that a firmware update will give me that option in the future.

@MaksimYuryev

So many people do mic comparisons. I really miss they you would test the stability of the mics instead of full focus on audio quality and range. I have been through Saramonis Blink and Comica Boom XD, and they both fails over time. How will the Rode Go hold up over a 5 hours constant recording ? This might be the biggest difference between the SemiP Pro Filmmaker KIT and the more consumer Røde Go kit.
