Absolutely. I had the ROG 3 as a DD and I never really played any games on it. They just make great heavier/power user smartphones. Monster battery, maximum performance (if you want it or reduce a bit for even more battery) and of course the speakers were great for using it as a portable speaker.

Nice to see them keeping the headphone jack after the third iteration for the 5 and now the 6. You don't see a lot of these big phone companies having that extra feature on their newer phones nowadays. This will definitely work great for high audio quality headphones
@toptiertech7291
@toptiertech7291 Рік тому
Just because there’s a headphone jack doesn’t mean it’ll work well with high quality headphones. You still want a good DAC. Like the LG V60 had a quad dac. So if you really care about headphone quality then buy a used V60 for 1/4th the price of this phone. You’ll get better camera and headphone quality
@ALEC-0126
@ALEC-0126 Рік тому
@@toptiertech7291 Yeah that's a good point. It does depend on DAC support. I do know from various audiophiles on UKposts and from a bit of reaserch that bluetooth audio quality is very lossy and USB C can be a bit of a hassle to get around though. Apple is apparently working on making a wireless solution for lossless audio which I hope can really help evolve wireless audio in the future.

I appreciate the bezels, as well as the fact that the screen is flat. I have been annoyed by the curved sides on my notes, currently on the S22 Ultra. Having to use LOCA screen protectors is not only expensive, but they are also super fragile around those curved edges.

Here's my 2cents on Asus phones: AMAZEBAAAAALLS! I've got my ROG 2 phone (12GB RAM, 2.96GHz, 6000 mAh, 512 mb) as soon as it came out in 2019. Before that, I've only used older cheaper 2nd hand phones. My main requirements were long battery life, lots of storage and fast response. These were the things that drove mad before and really created some anger management issues at times, and all of these things are now forgotten! It felt like I've suddenly entered into the future. I've got much much more, than I've initially wanted. 3 years and counting. Not planning to change it anytime soon. Every time I compare it to newest smartphones, the "innovations" are just not worth it yet! So far, only Asus has outdone Asus. Sure, camera isn't great. But for someone who has never used Instagram, only has FB to keep in touch with few people, and generally believes that moments are best kept in memory and not chased with cameras, whatever quality I get is enough for me. And I love the size and heaviness of my ROG 2. Love not having to charge it every day, sometimes even 3-4days. And gaming is as good as PC. This phone slows down only when 3% of battery is left. And still lasts for ~15min with that much, still while gaming! The real minus was the screen. About 1.5years into use I had it cracked on the stairs so bad, it went completely blank. When I tried to repair it, none of the shops had a replacement screen. I had to order it from china (~120euros), wait for about 2 months till it arrived and then had it repaired. Sadly, this summer I've cracked it again, but this time it's only a line of dead pixels, and even then it disappears, if I don't press on the screen to hard. For this beautiful creation a case is A MUST! Honestly, I doubt I'll need another phone for another 3 years. Maybe just change the screen again. That's how great it is! Edit: forgot to mention the lack of bloatware. Looking at you, Samsung.

Hey! You look like the perfect person to ask. I want the ROG6 Ultimate, I’ve heard people say the ASUS support isn’t good and only really cover updates for 2 years? What’s your take on that? I’m thinking the comment was maybe written wrong or something I’m just curious how the support is in general and as you’ve used them for years you can tell me.

@@juliancaesar4575 The fact that they don't constantly update their software on their phones is what make them last longer. New software, versions of android, aren't optimized to be used on older technology it is what essentially kills your phone in the end. I currently have the ROG 2 myself and it still works and plays games as good as it did when I first got it. The only thing that bothers me about it now is that it freezes up and doesn't record my finger movements, so I just have to turn the screen off and on again for it to become responsive again.

I like it. I would love to know how well it dissipates heat. With an over clocked processor and RAM to keep up with it, I think it's safe to say that this phone will have even more heat to deal with than a more standard configuration. I know they have a purpose built heat spreader, but was it built to be comparable to standard configuration, or exceed it.

On the release day they showed some charts showing highest temp after some genshin impact, this phone had lower temps than iphone 13pro and s22 ultra. They also mentioned they were able to add thermal paste to the back of the soc and its the 1st phone to do so. Plus signficantly larger graphite thing compared to last year model, which also tackles heat. All in all, it is safe to say the thermals are handled extremely good might perform better than most other flagships.

I have the rog phone 5 s pro and it has that feature. It gives me a graph on how well I charge my phone and you can set the max battery level to 80,90, or 100 percent. It also allows you to schedule your charging so for instance if you sleep you can schedule it to be fully charged at a certain time so that your battery doesnt degrade. It is really handy. Ive had samsung phones for all my life but decided to change it up a bit and got this phone which I am really happy with. Well one of the big reasons I switched is because samsung doesnt have the headphone jack anymore and I still use it sooooo lol.

I bought ROG phone 3, one and half years ago, I'm not really a gamer, I usually play games on my PC, I bought it for normal usage for ₹42k (approx $530) and honestly it's the best decision I ever made.. there are many features that keep me wanting to explore more about this phone , and one of them is slow charging and a charging limit setter through which I can set my phone to be charged till 80%, it really helps in maintaining the battery life and 80% is enough to run a whole day having about 27% at the end of the day even if u scroll through Instagram for long hours during the day!! And these speakers are loud!! U won't know untill u take some other phone and compare it .. And for the screen part.. it's still butter smooth, I use it at 90hz nowadays but the screen at 60hz itself is too smooth and snappy... For cameras.. yes I agree it's not up to a flagship level but it manages to click great pics...it's not the worst and it's not the best either.. it does the job.. and as for video quality.. I've tried 4k 60fps and it's just beauty to take video in this phone.. obviously not better than other flagship phones but it's sharp and good enough to touch the flagship levels at the time when ROG phone 3 was released The size of the phone is indeed large but after some days of usage you'll get used to it and it won't feel that heavy anymore .. I still get security updates but Android 12 update is a bit delayed as it shows.. And now that I saw how ROG phone 6 is.. I feel like Asus are improving what was the first the problem of their customers in their older phone and making it better with their new phones.. big up to Asus for that..

I'd like to see more of a focus on how bright the display gets outside. This would be a great Pokemon Go device but the display needs to keep up in sunlight. My S20+ will boost the contrast when outside to make it more visible but this only lasts a few minutes before the phone calms down. Battery life indoors vs outdoors is huge due to display brightness.
@Skylancer727
@Skylancer727 Рік тому
800nits I think is the sustained brightness for full screen. I remember the ROG Phone 5 did the same but was also referred to as 1200nits. Yeah just looked it up on gsmarena. ASUS refers to the display as 800nits typical and 1200nits peak. From my experience, turning it up to max just seems to always be 1200nits. Makes my Note 9 with 1000nits peak look dim while looking the same as my Note 8 which was 1200nits.
