Custom mobile router table build. This will be a two part video series on the build process of my new mobile router table. It will feature a Jessem Rout-R-Lift ll, it will fit under the right extension wing of my table saw, have plenty of storage space, an adjustable fence with dust collection, and eventually have a built in cross cut sled. This will be a great addition to my shop and will allow me to do much safer template routing in the future due to the large work surface. The addition of a miter track and t-track will allow the use of feather boards for more work piece control as well.

Nice looking router table~! I like the way it fits under your table saw's extension. Something I'll keep in mind if I end up replacing my current router table setup.

Oneida air make a router hood that could be mounted on your Bosch router and collect the shavings when doing mortises, it also has a chip collector that clips on the bottom of the router base to collect the shavings when doing edge profiles like your chamfering bit. I bought one years ago for a trim router but doesn't work on them, it was made for the bigger routers like yours

Congratulations on having 1,190 subscribers.🎉 (You blew past the 1K mark!) Your videos are very well done as are your designs and work process. I like the idea of an independent router table under the table saw wing rather than in the wing. Keep up the fantastic work. I’d subscribe again, if I hadn’t already been in the first 1K.

Nice video! Thanks. You do really great work. 👍 I make all my tables the same way you do - except I use dowels instead of loose tenons. It's easy for me to use a simple dowel jig with inexpensive dowels. Never had any issues with the strength of joints. Even for outside use with redwood and western red cedar. One of these days I'm going challenge myself using Castle Joints instead of dowels to attach legs to apron.

Looks awesome! I've been drawing out a router table that I plan to bid and have been going back and forth on what to do for the top, and I'm definitely going to do what you did here. Sidenote, if you accidently stick the pieces together in the wrong spot, acetone will dissolve the contact cement and let you retry. You will just have to reapply it

I like the look you have with the black tops. Choice of any paint makes this an awesome build for any shop to get the look you prefer. I'm a new subscriber so maybe I missed it but can you do a review/tutorial on your table saw? Been looking at a Jet or Sawstop but I find the fence on your Harvey very intriguing. Your shop is looking good! Can't wait for a shop tour video. Nice work sir! Oh, do you have a video for your dado jig? I'm interested!
@squareandlevel
@squareandlevel 8 місяців тому
Thanks for watching! I’m torn on doing any reviews. I did film the the entire unboxing and set up of the saw but one of the main reasons I started making these videos is I was feeling a lot of the channels I used to like have turned into tool hawkers. With their top ten tool lists and tool of the week I “need” to have. I just want to watch people build cool stuff. I think people should use the highest quality tool they can AFFORD to accomplish the task at hand. If that means harbor freight or Festool, it is irrelevant. As long as they are having fun building something. I’m still considering doing a “2-3 month” initial impressions video of they table saw. We will see. Really don’t want to come off like I’m a brand “x” tool pusher. I hope to do a shop tour once the shop is complete. Probably 3/4 the way there. Can you explain what you mean by dado jig? I’m not 100% sure about what you are asking about there. Again, thanks for watching, hope you have a awesome day!!

@squareandlevel I get ya! I just want to know more about that fence. It looks like it can do a lot of things with the slots it has. Wanted to get your take on it. Not a plug for the brand but more of what it can do

Nice job. Some very smart design choices and rock solid build quality. I like the idea of being able to store it under your table saw wing. For your mortising jig, consider eliminating the necessity of a bushing by instead attaching hardwood surrounds on the front and back of your jig. They would basically capture your router base so it can only move left and right. It greatly improves dust collection since you won't have the bushing restricting air flow around the bit. It's how my own mortising jig works and dust collection if great on it. What enamel paint did you use and how long did it take to dry?
@squareandlevel
@squareandlevel 8 місяців тому
Thanks for the jig tip. I’ll have to look into that when this one starts getting worn from use. Great idea. The paint is just rust oleum enamel. I just mix some gloss black and white until I like the shade. Takes about a 24 hours till it can be gently handled. Probably not fully cured for a week. Thanks for watching. Hope you have a great day!
@NWGR
@NWGR 8 місяців тому
@@squareandlevel You as well. You could probably add the hardwood strips to your current jig if space allows. Definitely worth looking into. It saves a lot of time vs having to vacuum out every mortise. Thanks for the info on the paint. I suspected it was rustoleum. Good stuff.

Very nice! It looks like you set your router, dead center of the table. After having used it, do you regret its placement not being closer to the front edge, and or operator edge?
@squareandlevel
@squareandlevel 8 місяців тому
I am very happy with the placement. I put it the middle specifically to give the most support in all directions for doing template routing. With my old set up ,(left extension wing on table saw) I struggled supporting larger pieces and just didn’t feel safe. Time will tell if I change my mind on the placement, but so far with the limited time I’ve used it I feel I made the correct choice. Thanks for watching! Hope you have a great night!

@@squareandlevel Very cool! I am building my own now, just educating myself to make the best decision on placement. Keep up the great work!
@squareandlevel
@squareandlevel 8 місяців тому
@willwatlington6750 one additional note. My router table is pretty low(33”) so it would fit under the table saw wing. That might be helping not feel awkward with the router being in the middle. 🤷🏼‍♂️

It was nice to see a woodworker who is new to it or have been doing it for many yrs, but i didn't see you brraking out the festool equipment. Not that they dont have nice equipment nir do I own anyof theres because they are so expensive, but too many times i watch videos and they claim to be new to woodworking and yet you see Festool all over the place. Its just very deceiving IMO. Also great job on the router table. I am still trying to design ine for myself but i have a Dewlt 621 plunge router and I can't find any compatible lifts for it. If anyone knows of any i would appreciate the help.

@squareandlevel
@squareandlevel 8 місяців тому
I’m very new to all this and still trying to figure out how make my videos not suck. Feel I have a long way to go. Main reason I started making these videos is because I was getting fed up with most people trying to pump up some random tool of the week we ”need” to have or some top ten tool list. I just want to watch people build cool stuff and get ideas for future projects. Figure I can’t be alone in that sentiment. Affiliate links may come in the future or they may not. See what the future brings? Thank you very much for watching and I hope you have a great day!!
