Ive got 4060ti with 8gb and its really no issue. I play 1440p high/medium settings most new games. You barrely notice the vram issue. Sure, there are spikes where it sucks but its really not a big deal if you’re only playing single player games. Only thing that sucks is the price for new gpu’s.

@@txoni I know how frustrating it's to run out of VRAM, even when your GPU is powerful enough. I don't want this kind of problem anymore, so my next GPU will have more than enough VRAM. 8GB may be OK for now, but it won't be in few years. And I don't upgrade my GPU so often.

Loving this game. One of the most beautiful and well optimised ports. Btw, 10 gigs of vram is enough for 1440p ultra so honestly the game is not vram hungry.

When a GPU is powerful enough to run games on ultra at 60FPS and is limited by it's own VRAM... This is the drama of RTX 4060, it's only 8GB of VRAM that limits not only the gaming experience, even the most important feature Frame Generation that need VRAM to works. But it is not only the VRAM, those cards are also limited by their bandwidth bus of 128 bit. So even if they have enough VRAM with the 16GB, the card can still struggle due the low bandwidth. Overall the 4060s are really crippled by their own configuration and is a shame since the die can perform very well in most scenarios.

Those microstutters you see in the frametime graph comes from having Nvidia Reflex on. Other Nixxes ports like the R&C Rift Apart pc port have the same issue when using Reflex. Once you turn it off the frame time graph becomes flat and the game looks noticeably smoother.

Keeping texture at high and rest all Maxed out uses only 7.4 GB Max @ 1440p, DLSS Q With FG on and 90+ FPS all time in my RTX 4060 Ti..... 8 GB texture is good for 1080p and 1440p also like this optimized game... textures settings eats more VRAM in all recent games high textures uses 8k resolution textures and need more VRAM

There is a problem with this test. You noticed the stutters and low fps when activated frame gen, but that's not because of more vram used, but u just need to restart the game ...I had 50 fps when enabled frame gen, and after restart jumped to 90-115. I have ryzen 7600 + rtx 4060 (+150 core, +2000 memory, 100% power slider (can't go above that) and i have the game at 1440p high settings, medium shadows, dlss balanced (i have 23,8 1440p monitor so for me quality and balanced kinda looks the same) and frame gen on, and with theese settings i get 90-115 fps. 8GB vram for 4060 it's enough ..you will be forced to lower settings anyway even if u had 16gb on it, because the framerates on ultra in most of the newer games will be kinda low. It's very good balanced in my opinion, low power consumption, mine goes like 116wats, and it delivers plenty of performance with so low power consumption. Because of the low power requirement of 4060 i was able to keep my old psu, and be able to replace it in the future. It's an be quiet 450w psu. I was kinda tight on the buget, building the pc from the ground up , including monitor, so every money saved really helped.

This game is just gorgeous! I'm 8h into it and I just want to play more and more. My rig runs an RTX4080 and a 7800X3D and I play the game at 2K maxed out at 90fps locked from Nvidia control panel. It's an amazing experience.

@@JakiyyyyyHow is it a life saver If It's already getting sub 60 fps at settings that use over 8gb of vram? It's the same stiruation as the 8gb of vram on the RX 580, which I had a few years ago. It wasn't a saver, whenever It was useful you weren't getting a good performance anyway. If you want to play at 30 or 40 fps at settings that exceed 8gb of vram just get a PS5, their GPU is roughly on par with an RX 6700 or 4060 but It's cheaper. RT is worse, but on par with a 2060S which is similar to 3060, but this class of card is too weak to use RT properly anyway. Not point in getting a 3060 due to the 12gb just for you to have a bit worse perf than a console and barely get 40fps, better to just get the stronger GPU and lower texture res, use DLSS, etc.

i think it is the city area where there are guards around and different people where the VRAM swaps to RAM imo (the Meridian area for example)... otherwise out in the wilds the usuage is very less.. maybe testing in both the areas would give a better idea.

The game itself has memory leaking issues, just like Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart. I wouldn't fault this on the VRAM, rather it's how these games are programmed with their original console in mind.

Memory leak happening because gpu has not enough vram and when it swaps here and there error happens and it starts to memory leak. Had this problem in many games on rtx 3070. But since i've got gpu with 24 gb vram I have never experienced memory leak.

I've had the 4060 since it released, I'm not all that impressed that it's already reaching it's limit because of it VRAM limitation. But I still feel like it's still an okay GPU, just wish for games nowadays you need minimum 10 to 12GB to play at 1080p Ultra which is just absurd.

I would like to point out that while there are undoubtedly VRAM issues with the card itself, the game appears to have some memory issues and more importantly, the graphics settings are totally broken. From my experience, games ported to PC by Nixxes, no matter how well optimized, have serious VRAM management problems, which is why we see these swaps during gameplay. The game tends to drop down to 30 fps as you enter new areas, in some cases even during cutscenes, a sign that the game is not downloading the VRAM correctly. Let's wait and see how the situation evolves. FG seems to be broken for most people, even with higher tier GPUs

VRAM utilization here is strange indeed. Tried it today on GTX 970 (3.5+0,5 GB VRAM) at medium settings but high textures and didn't have any problems. Card itself was a bit weak so I had to use FSR for 60th fps performance at 1080p.

Yes, you are right. The game suffer of memory leak, it has some issues as it’s not downloading the vram correctly. You can notice this when entering new areas and during cutscenes.

Let me teach modern PC users to optimise settings in this game for 8GB gpu. You need to reduce the quality of textures by 1 parameter, to a high value, so you should not have problems in 1080/1440p, no matter what level all other settings are. Modern gpu is desirable to use in pci e 4.0, since even in a video car with x16 its load can be close to 20%, this can affect the result, for x8 video cards its influence will be even higher reaching up to 40% of the load. I know lowering 1 parameter is a very difficult task, but I think it makes sense to try ...

If you want to match PS5 settings then use HIGH preset, but turn on parallax occlusion. PS5 surprisingly uses very high textures, but obviously as he showed you have to use high textures on 8Gb cards.. You can sort of match the overall texture quality as PS5 by using switching AF to 16x. (Ps5 only used a variable 2x-8x AF method). PS5 reconstructs to 1800p (through an outdated checkerboard rendering method) at 60 fps, and its a dynamic resolution. DF says you can achieve a visual quality on par with PS5 by using DLSS with dynamic resolution 60 at 1440p. These settings should all be doable on the rtx 4060. I wish he would test these settings out to see if it can stay locked at 60fps...

Ironically you could use the FSR3 FG mod on the 4060 to get much better performance than DLSS3 FG since FSR3 uses much less VRAM.

I tried fg with my rtx 4060 & I was getting above 100 fps avg at 1080p high settings. May be there was a bug in this video. To cross check I tried both in towns & open fields to be sure & still I was averaging above 100 fps using frame gen. May be try again someday?

It is possible Sony will patch the game witj better optimization for VRAM use like TLoU and other recent titles, this will help a lot for 8GB cards like these but the main issue remains 8GB at 128 bit bus is just not enough for modern games.

@alexand.abrahamek man I've had really wished nvidea sold 3070 with 12gb vram now I'm struggling in Maya being unable to use Arnold really having a hard time with AMD to be honest can't blame the industry the nvidea exclusive features they really are a strong thing even the older features they provide with nvidea sponsered games like phyX I'm spreading this word everywhere but amd really is gaming restricted which is a highly unproductive thing

As someone that upgraded from a 750ti to a 4060, people love regurgitating the same points about this card without taking regional pricing into consideration. For 250 dollars, being able to play the newest games at 1080p/60fps on high/ultra with DLSS is such a godsend for a budget build. And being able to use frame generation (in certain games) is always a nice bonus. I could have paid a bit more for an AMD equivalent for 10-50 more fps from pure rasterization, but the average consumer is fine with a locked 60. I could have paid the same or a bit less for a 3060, but in both cases im not missing out on frame generation, especially when it works well is such a no brainer The 4060 is like the Xbox Series S for PC's

8gb is becoming weak even for 1080p these days and Nvidia is still making 8gb versions, funny that modders are able to ungraded 8gb to 16gb but Nvidia doesn't do that to sell 4090 and 3090

It has the Horse Power for Processing but not the Memory for super high resolution Textures. You could probably just lower the texture quality a notch and get a stutter free experience ;)

So you cant afford a good 200 dollar used gaming pc. You could have gotten a used dell optiplex for 80-100 dollars and a used gtx 1070 for 80-100 dollars.

Funnily Enough I also bought mine second hand from a guy that upgraded to the 4090 this was about a year ago. It's an absolute monster at 1440p and runs RT great.

09:59 dropping to 52 FSP even when VRAM usage is 6GB, so yeah... card is just not powerful enough, anyway. might have something to do with lower BUS width, though.

before mods 65 to 45fps was average after mods 65 to 90fps+ becomes standard / 5nm syndrome / kinda like 7nm and 10nm burn in is a terminology of taking a device and making it run full load with software known and sometimes unknown with unknown side effects AKA"CHEATERS" had to make sure we were safe

rtx3060 12gb i get 60fps so its a bit worse compared to rtx4060 8gb,But its not huge in this game+if the vram would be higher i guess the 12gb would be better vs rtx4060 8gb or am i thinking of this totaly wrong?

There most likely is something else wrong with the frame generation implementation in this game, than the VRAM getting filled.

poor 4060 my 7700xt seems to be having an awesome time at 1440p v.high getting around 70-80 fps and using around 10.5gb of vram in the same area you're in
