This is a really big event in the Russian aviation industry, and it is even more valuable against the background of the ban on the supply, repair and maintenance of Western passenger aircraft.

@@jorgeluiscapiello414 You also need to be realistic... you live in the 80's. American superiority in the quality of production has long ceased to exist. Speaking of planes... what happened to that door on the B737 that flew out of the plane in flight a few days ago with an entire row of seats? How many pressurized bulkheads on the B737 did they have to replace a couple of months ago when they discovered sloppy production work... 100 bullheads? 200? What happened to those rubber dampers on the B737 that they didn't screw down so they were sending the planes back to correct the sloppy work? The work on other Boeing planes is no better. US auto industry!? Statisticians say that the reliability of vehicles from American manufacturers is somewhere around 30 places... on par with Chinese manufacturers! Other industrial branches are not better either... Russian planes may use more fuel than American ones, but at least they don't fall out of the sky because they forgot to tighten all the screws in production!

Will Russia send all its aircraft staff to further invade Ukraine? Why does all go wrong in Russia, maybe look into the mirror: bad leadership? This tech is great, but really, get out of war, Russia seems like Germany in the 1940s; Folks in Georgia and Chechnya would prefer not to be ruled by Moscow. The 'sanctions from the US' are not anti-Russian but pro Ukrainian. Allow Ukraine also to thrive with their air-industry. They already seem to make wonderful drones and have a history in aviation technology. Make peace with the free and democratic Ukraine and choose for a democratic leadership - kick out the current ego and go for democratic. Recognize the difference?

They decided to do that only later. It was easier to modernise everything and use upgraded versions of the current 4 configured engine for now, because the time to bring a reliable engine to production is much less. Also Russia has an abundance of cheap fuel. So it balances out. They understand this plane is not aimed for the international market, but for the local market.

IL - from Ilyushin. _Sergey Vladimirovich Ilyushin (1894 - 1977) was a Soviet aircraft designer who founded the Ilyushin aircraft design bureau. He designed the Il-2 Shturmovik, which made its maiden flight in 1939._ _It is the most produced warplane, and remains the second most-produced aircraft in history, with some 36,000+ built._ CR929 - situation unclear. Chinese asked Russians to share a lot of technologies, Russia not agreed (big airplanes of such class produce only France, Russia and USA). So, project canceled, then restored. Looks like negotiations are going. But yep, this engine (PD-35) can be installed on IL-96. Engine is developed not for CR929, but for bunch of Russian projects, from new version of An-124 (heaviest cargo plane in world) to future projects.

China should have replaced Boeing with Ilyushin for their commercial planes rather than building the COMAC 919 and 929 planes. This way, Airbus and Ilyushin will provide all the planes for the Chinese commercial plane sector while COMAC spends its resources to focus on building the next generation of commercial airplanes (like supersonic, hypersonic, battery powered engines, etc). Just like how Chinese automobile industry decided to focus on NEVs instead of trying to build more ICE vehicles. Why compete in an area the west has at least 50 years head start? Russia needs the Chinese market. China needs Russian technology. If they cooperate, both will win in Asia, South America, and Africa!. This is one of the better scenarios to compete with Boeing and Airbus. Ironically, China and Russia are the two main titanium producers. They could control titanium price and availability. The US and Europe should also know their limit! The US totally disabled Russia in the aviation industry, well Russia built its own industry to compete with them. Never count the Chinese out. Only a few years ago, China was a laughing stock about EV cars, now ask Elon Musk! 6 months ago, Raimondo played her best semiconductor card on the Chinese turf. They just politely accepted her play, but she didn't realize that she was already checkmated. The US looked down and banned China from participating in the International Space Station. Well, China built its own space station! Remember that China is still the king of manufacturing. Especially now, the US's playbook motivates Russia and China to challenge them in any technological field. The world will be very different in the next 50 years.

Russia and China in different weight categories. China can produce everything that is known to science. And Russia is the world of science. Who gave you technologies of 28 nanometers or less? Lithography using ultraviolet radiation was discovered by Russian scientists in 2011. US Patented. Until 2022, recognizing Western patents, we could not produce ourselves and transfer these technologies to third parties. The first prototype is in Russia. Now you are ahead of the US thanks to the Russians. We are already ready for 1 nanometer using X-rays and less than 1 nanometer using synchrotron radiation, which will be released by 2030. The kernel code will be rewritten and the Russian software market will mature by this time. Russia is already in the age of quantum technologies. We discovered quantum particle chaos control in 2021. We are working on Leonov’s works, rewriting physics. The energy of the universe will soon become available. And China is the world's factory for the production of industrial goods. Russia will never engage in this production. Only if we saturate our own Russian market, so as to be independent of anyone.

@mrrolandlawrence

all is fair in love and war as they say. also not all aircraft were leased. many were owned outright. newer stuff is harder to maintain, but older stuff should have plenty of parts as these planes have been running in russia for the last 30 years.

So you are saying Russia is ahead of the West in civil aviation industry. But there are two problems? Has Russia sanctioned the West back in the industry? If no, then Russia is encouraging sanctions because there will be no consequences. Next, Russia seems to have so many companies in the industry whereas if they put all under one umbrella, they could have a distinct name and work faster. Finally, I think BRICS+ should come up with an agreement on supporting and enhancing industries within the block.

Too bad that Russia chose not to live in peace and cooperation with its neighbour Ukraine. In partnership, with Ukraine's aircraft technology the two countries could have worked together to produce a world-beating range of aircraft. As it is, Russia cannot even produce cars for its own market.

Next time don't attack other countries. Also, good luck with this plane! The rest of the world has friendly relations with other world powers, and we don't make harassing people and denying humans basic human rights our pride and glory. Hence, why we are able to source quality parts from other countries. Separating production has been the most efficient and by far superior way of conducting business. Surprised you haven't learned that given the dramatic downfall of communism, and its failure. This whole plane seems like a hazard for any air space, and it probably eats up way too much fuel. Not to mention it's likely inferior built quality. Stick to just not giving your own people basic human rights, and other clownery propaganda.

We see American-Canadian support for Nazism, a very similar situation to the 30s of the 20th century. Henry Ford and many other American oligarchs adored and supported the Nazis. Russia's borders were fixed by the Treaty on the Boundaries of Europe in 1975 in Helsinki. Don't worry about neighboring countries. Russia has the legal right to defend itself 6.5 times more than Israel.
