I grew up in USA. The media here has constantly made Russia out to be our enemy. News shows movies everything. The real Russia is so beautiful and its people are so meek and amazing. I'm grateful my parents raised me to respect everyone. Goes to show how manipulated everyone's media is:( The majority of humankind is beautiful and kind. Your videos remind us of that:) Thank you!

@Moths to the Flame... THE LIES that come out of USA and their western vassals. USA STILL collaborate with Russian - working together sending Russian & American Astronauts to ISS, with Russian built Engines. USA couldn't get into space without Russian Engines. They also collaborate on other ventures, BUT USA like the vassal west countries. have left GOD and taken up relationship with satan and evil. Easy to find if you do simple search outside of MSM. Blessings from Australia an vassal arm of USA.

Beautiful, quaint and rustic home. Perhaps Douglas was named after Douglas Fairbanks the movie star? All those beautiful churches must have had huge rural populations. Footage reminds me of American mid-west, or great north central plains of Canada too.

@Hyperborean Colonialism ok, you might be right about nationalism. As I see news from Russia there is. But I doubt that it is spread everywhere, may be in cities where russians prevail. Take for example Chechnya, Tatarstan, Dagestan, Bashkirya, Kabarda Balkarian republic, Ingushetya, where most of the population are muslims. How russian nationalism can exist there? There are also regions where moslty asians live like Yakutya, Buryatya, Kalmikya, Altay. So I think that nationalism might be only in some regions, it is not spread all over.

@Hyperborean Colonialism You're a bastard, a troll and Russophobe and spread the lie! More than 190 ethnic groups live in Russia and ALL THEY ARE EQUAL. There is NO nationalism and racism in Russia, all nationalities respect each other! The West, as always, composes and spreads a disgusting lie about Russia, accusing it of its own vices, peculiar to the West !!! Russia is God's light and beauty of life, the West is Satanic evil and hypocritical lie !!!

I have never been to Russia and I also miss it so badly! What makes it so intensely beautiful? The wonderful spirits of the people and how it shows in their works. I know Russia has suffered terribly from rural depopulation, thanks partly to catastrophic "help" from the United States in the nineties. I know the people will carry on, despite the discouragements, and Russia is rising to a quiet prosperity it has never seen before. God Bless all. How are you friend
@Khamomil4 роки тому
Douglas was such a fine, friendly man! I bet people feel lonely at times and are happy to see a stranger passing through. I loved his estate, how the buildings formed a cosy courtyard and led to the garden. wonderful place everything is so clean, because the population density is very small, that's the good side: a clean nature with wild edibles at every season, nothing ugly in sight to ruin the landscape. People may be forgotten by the politicians but in a sense it's lucky for them. compared to my country France where there are so many rules and regulations and buying land and building a house is fraught with innumerable occasions for rip-offs and red tape... at least over there you can breathe! I'd like to see how it is in the winter time. Looking at the map, there are no big cities North of Yekaterinburg, only small villages.
@shafit40463 роки тому
They are not alone! Is the hospitality and warmth is the product of loneliness? Is it possible that if I meet a friendly person in France, he is lonely? Just when you go to the country or to the country after a long Russian winter, you want to take a break from the city bustle and crowds. But this rarely happens: we are used to communicating with neighbors, friends, and always welcome guests. It's not from loneliness, it's from our fathers, grandfathers, forefathers...- this Russia.

So his letter: I have been living in Russia, as an American native-born, for 19 years but visited many times since 1976 and have been here to watch the development from the chaotic 90s and post 2000, when Putin took office, I have never seen such a radical change in any large country. Corruption was the norm in the 90s, and average citizens just do not interact with it now. I have several small businesses in St Petersburg and up until about 2004 it was very difficult to do business without bribes and "favors" and my business was hurt by not being involved in that but the straight legal business critical mass hit the tipping point in 2004 or so when there was more legal business with real accounting records that made illegal business harder and harder continue since legal businesses could not account for transactions with illegal entities, there was no paper trail That kept growing until it must be very hard to conduct business illegally now The federal government has been very active in anti-corruption efforts and it really shows. It is now easier to start a small or mid-sized business now, be perfectly legal, and have it succeed far better than now in the US. Most small business fails in the US because of the very high costs of living means the owner burns through their starting capital very quickly on living expenses alone. Taxes are low, city and federal services are easily used, and burdensome red tape has been slashed. From the 90s to 2019, Russia is an easier place to live and have a good life than the USA for many reasons but it is just more honest, open and rational society. Education, housing, cost of transportation, medical care and access to culture is so much better now. Instead of vilifying Russia the US citizens really should look at it carefully to see how Russia turned itself around, but the US is so dominated by nonsense propaganda few people know that about 100 countries have overtaken the US in quality of life for the non-wealthy. It is fun, exciting, humane and a rational place to live and raise a family. I have watched it make the changes that have allowed this. At the same time I remember 35 years ago, the US was a great place to raise a family or start a small business. All that has broken down in a bitterly divided extremely corrupt, angry fearful society where free speech is threatened daily with many words or opinions that will end up causing attacks and violence and no one knows for sure where the next hostility will come from. The US is a stressed out bomb waiting to explode. economic security is one of the missing elements in US society for the 90% and from that lack of security and lack of opportunity, most people are leading difficult lives. The young people have a very bleak future awaiting them with starting life with mountains of debt, few living wage job prospects 20 years of college loans. Bankruptcy awaits if they get sick. Or, with no public transport, the cost of a car and related expenses and high cost of housing means never having the option to be debt free or travel, have savings or have a normal family of their own. But Americans who did not visit for an extended period will never know anything true about Russia. There are thousands of Americans living in Russia and I have met none who want to return to the US, it is just too crazy and angry after such an open friendly place like Russia. From myself I will add the following. I watched dozens of videos from foreigners living in Russia. Among them, a third are Americans. They always speak very positively about Russia. I decided to go there. My friend lived there for 2 years at work.

Great to see the big, beautiful Motherland. So vast yet so little appreciated, so little understood by us in the 'West'. Greetings to all Russia from a small crowded Island. Definitely a country I want to visit, if only to sense the sheer scale of the place. I think the Russian people are incredibly friendly and welcoming to foreigners. The myth we have of them being hostile is completely wrong. Keep up the good work and happy travels.

You're doing a great job, showing Russia what it is. In the villages of Russian people live good-natured. People do not what do not ask, they do everything themselves. Hope in our villages the people begin with the town to relocate. In the village you can raise a lot of children, and in the city a maximum of 2 3 children. I hope the Russian village will become fashionable again and people will restore the forgotten villages

The problem of many countries is dying villages. Young people leave the village and move to cities. This I see in every country. We need a powerful state program to revive life in the villages. This is primarily support for farming.

I am from Indonesia. I imagine, Rusia is a snow country. But after watching this video that Rusia is green. And abandoned villages fenomena are the same with my country. Many young people leave village go to work in cities only old people stay at villages as farmers. But the differences are Rusia farmers have large land and my country, farmers have small land.
