Sometime they need live rounds to cause real damage to set pieces. Also, there's 2 kinds of blank rounds, that when put together can become live.

It's the responsibility of the Armourer to make sure that it never happens, it's not the duty of the Director, the Producer is partly responsible, but the buck stops with the Armourer. If she was incapable of doing the job and being responsible she should have declined it. Perhaps you believe that women shouldn't be accountable when their actions get people killed?

I am so sorry for your loss. I can only hope the person ultimately responsible for her death gets a much more severe sentence. In the end, it is ALWAYS the ultimate responsibility of anyone and everyone who handles a gun to ensure its proper use. Always! If Baldwin had done that, none of us would be here upset at light sentences. If Baldwin had taken care of this young, inexperienced drug user and given her another job on set, we wouldn't be here. If Baldwin hadn't've showed off, playing with the gun, none of us would be here. Baldwin deserves 18 years. He won't get near that much, either. Sadly.

@@mannyafcarsensl-rc6vvit’s a film set. It’s a prop. Actors aren’t meant to check their props. Any prop. The crew check the props and with a gun it’s the armour - the risk is high which is why it’s the only prop they are responsible for.

Lange, U.S. District Court, has sentenced an Allen, South Dakota, man convicted of Involuntary Manslaughter. The sentencing took place on November 29, 2023. Llewellyn John Running Hawk, age 48, was sentenced to two years and nine months in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release, and ordered to pay $4,000 in restitution, and a $100 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.

Brandon Lee ('The Crow', Bruce Lee's son) died because the armorer failed. In that case, the armorer/props involved I believe were never charged. Having an armorer held responsible is some progress.

That's the longest sentence the judge was able to give Hannah for the crime she committed, under New Mexico sentencing guidelines. You could just see the judge would have given her more time if she'd been able to do it.

That is literally how it works in film sets, there are entire processes and legal agreements written around to cover this. Please study more...

@@benjobanjo7475 I work in film as a director and camera operator. hate to break it to you, but in most states when on set actors are not legally permitted in any form to mess with a firearm they are handed. This includes checking the ammunition. If that happens the weapon has to be taken away, returned to the armourer to undergo another inspection, then checked again before being returned to the set to be used in the scene. Actors are LITERALLY not allowed to check the gun themselves because they aren't trained properly. And the actors I've worked with who have done that have received numerous lectures for hours from producers because they slow down production to a halt and cost money. Educate yourself before you start trying to spew your guesses and assumptions at others

He was using a prop. No actor is supposed to check the props they use. The prop guys have to ensure props are safe and it’s why there’s a specific, legal role of an armourer whenever there’s guns on set.

It’s not an actor’s responsibility to check the props they are given to use. It’s the job of the crew and with guns the armourer. It is the legal responsibility on the armourer to ensure all weaponry is safe to use as per the script. The producers shouldn’t be filming during a strike and she shouldn’t have taken the job, but she did

There is no legal argument to claim he knew it was loaded with a live round, or should have known it was loaded with a live round, when the armourer has the legal responsibility of making sure the gun is not loaded with a live round. Guns are dangerous it’s why they legally had to be an arm or on any set where there are guns. If the actor does anything to the gun that’s not in the script the gun has to go back to the armourer to be double checked before being used.
