The best centre forward I've ever seen in my life. Never switched off always first to react to a save a deflection a rebound. Always in the right place for a pass or cross. Always seemed to have space in the box and had the skill to make space. First touch was excellent second touch was usually a goal. His off the ball running was as relentless as it was intelligent and the only thing quicker over 10 yards was his brain. The way he could dig the ball out from under his feet and get a sweet contact is underrated the way he could chip the keeper from 10 yards is too. Never scuffed or miss hit a shot he was surgical with his finishing and he would go in 50/50 with his head. As a striker he was pure devastation. 🔥

The tight angle goal against basel away will always stick in my mind with ruud. Undoubtedly one of the greatest strikers to have ever wear the united shirt.

Ruud's heading ability is so underrated and never discussed much. The amount of power he could generate on a ball that had hardly any pace on it (and many times was just a chip up) was astonishing. Most other strikers would barely reach the keeper with some of those efforts, never mind land it in the net.
