The small island of St. Helena in the South Atlantic is home to unique fauna and flora. Many of the more than 400 species living here are found nowhere else in the world. To ensure that it stays that way, the inhabitants are committed to preserving biodiversity in extraordinary ways.
It is one of the most remote, isolated corners of the world, a small island of volcanic origin in the southern Atlantic Ocean. Located between southern Africa and South America, the remote island became famous as the former French emperor Napoleon Bonaparte’s place of exile. Today, St. Helena is still a British overseas territory.
St. Helena is also an insider tip for explorers and true nature lovers. The main reason is its breath-taking natural beauty, which thrives in a temperate subtropical climate. In order to preserve their homeland and its unusual biodiversity, the locals - the "Saints", as the islanders proudly call themselves - decided to come together to protect it. Their achievements have surpassed all expectations.
A wildlife and nature film that showcases this unique island at the 'end of the world’ - and its astonishing environmental victories.

The most difficult thing about restoration of a forest, is its subterranean species. When a forest is clear cut, many of the species lost are the Fungi that grew beneath the soil. Other insects, plants, and animals that lived in the forest are also lost without ever being discovered or documented. Trees can be replanted. But you cannot restore an entire ecosystem just by replanting the Trees.
@TheJamesRedwood
@TheJamesRedwood Рік тому
Thankfully, in regard to the soil microbiology - specially fungi, most species can remain dormant for many years or even decades, reviving and regenerating when conditions are right. Invertebrates are not as hardy, but more hardy than vertebrates in terms of finding places to hide and things to eat when their habitat is attenuated.

We don`t die - we just leaving earth, as saved souls - who go up into HEAVEN or as unsaved souls - who go down into torment. Dear soul, read the bible - full of information and an introduction to who GOD is we should serve. We, all - saved and unsaved will put on IMMORTALITY, so not a single part of us should perish, but be everlasting. The torment that awaits for the unsaved: REGRETS, that do not get forgiven (feeling sorry so deeply that it hurts inside yet knowing the whole time (forever) that no forgiven is found for you any longer. Is that enough of the torment? - oh dear soul, no, you will be placed in the middle of a lake full of fire (not water) and you will burn and not dying, for even you, who stayed wicked sinner (unsaved soul) did put on immortality that even single part of you cannot perish, but be everlasting. Now, tell me, is that not a torment? We can have a piece of that torment even here, many of us have been felt sorry/regret of thing we have done- right? - now Imagen, not getting forgiven for rest of your days. See, we are found already in torment, in a temporary torment. In the lake of fire, THE TORMENT LAST FOREVER. DAY AND NIGHT WITHOUT ANY KIND OF REST. NO DAY(S) OFF. Even if you have been there (in torment) already for millions and trillions of years, you`ll be there same long. That`s the something, we are trying you all warn about. Instead of dying twice, you`ll choose LIFE. The life(promises) that GOD promise to give us , IF WE REPENT AND BORN AGAIN =GET SAVED. “Hear, O LORD, when I cry with my voice: have mercy also upon me, and answer me.” Psalms 27:7 (KJV)

Hello Sasha, Lisa and Natasha The tree that you worried about which is the last species of its kind anywhere on the island it can be propagated. 1, pick a strong branch off of the tree you want to save, 1/2 an inch in diameter, or even ? Maybe ? One inch, a strong branch, of the ground about chest height. 2 next is to select a Part on the branch? Maybe about a foot from the end of it, you will see buds wanted to shoot out along the park edges as you go down the branch, find a healthy bud and the bark that is just below it maybe 1/2 inch ,has to be cleared away down to about 5 inches long, and as you’re clearing you may come across other smaller buds in that 5 inch strip, that’s all right continue clearing around it, down to just the sap layer. 3 now get some hide grade soil get a piece of plastic 78 inches long put the soil in the plastic throw it all around that expose layer that you cleared on your Diann tree rabbit hours soap to soil leave holes in the soil anaplastic wrap it several times keeping weather out but let in the moisture stay in and after six months of leaving that they’re wrapped in black tape top and bottom or even clear plastic, in six months or longer or shorter you may have roots now shooting from it and will have all the trees original natural Jean structure. 4 Last but not least after the roots are being seen cut your branch off below the roots system and go plant it somewhere in your historic garden. I love your work hope this helps in a small way, I seen this type of propagation on the UKposts By 4 now vj

@@SunriseLAW Yeah nah it still means to kill 1 in 10. You said it yourself, and that is what the actual sounds made by the syllables mean. There has to be some pushback as well otherwise communication breaks down altogether. Look at the word "literally". It is *literally* being used to mean things that are definitively not literal. If we let that continue, the word will be meaningless, like "radical", "wonderful", "awesome" and many other now-meaningless hyperlatives that have been allowed to attenuate by woefully under-qualified English teachers, and apologists like yourself. As a born and bred New Zealander, it is uncanny how familiar these tree ferns in particular are to ours. I also saw cordyllines and phormia that look identical to ours. Lots of datura as well, which we have none of (endemically), I wonder if they are introduced - as most solanums are native to south and central America.
