This song feels like it was originally written for Freddie Mercury's voice. I had never heard anyone sing that good since Freddie. Sam is a unique treasure and it's great that he got so much appreciation. ❤️❤️❤️

Sam wrote this song himself years ago. It wasn't meant for eurovision , however when sifting through his many creative musical works he chose this for the night. Brilliant , what a voice and an extremely lovely man. A well deserved top of the voting list

It was written mainly by Amy Wadge. Who also wrote Thinking out Loud for Ed Sheeran. Sam did have input in the writing though.

@@25Dzone I think people were divided over the studio version but a lot of people enjoyed how he brought it to life on stage with his voice and personality during his rehearsals and the final especially with the guitar solo. His Jury Final was phenomenal.

This entry was the proof that the UK did not get so few points, because of the Brexit or everyone hating them (lots of comments in the past years seem to believe that), but because of the songs you sent. I think this song’s real triumph wasn’t just getting the UK to second place in the contest, but also its sticking power. I’m still hearing this on the radio and it’s the only Eurovision song I’m still listening to months on from the contest. Bloody excellent stuff.

I am from Ukraine, I would like to thank everybody who voted for my country, this win means a lot for us. But I personally feel that in a different circumstances Sam should have won. For me this song was the best and deserved to win, Sam’s voice and energy is everything, it melted my heart and I listed to it on repeat . I hope that he will come back next year and bring Eurovision to UK 🇬🇧.

Last year when I first heard this song my cousin was fighting for her life after an accident. Doctors said she wasn't going to make it and ask for her organs to be donated. I wanted to pray for help but didn't know how as I don't have any religion. Just listened to this song over and over as it made me feel I was connecting with something elevate. We don't know what happened but soon she started to get better and after a few days she woke up and she is still with us...

When I heared this song the first time it gave me a warm feeling and - I do'nt know why - sort of hope, touched something inside. Maybe this also happend to you. Sam Ryder is a extremly positive person with high star quality and the composition is wonderful, this mix of Elton John, The Beatles, his own personality and good rock music.

I think a huge amout of people wanted your country to win to show unity and support and the result should be accepted with the spirit with which it was intended. I'm sure Sam would not want to take that away from Ukraine and is thrilled with the result - after all we're usually somewhere at the bottom! With love to you from the UK.

I don't think any UK Eurovision fan could be more proud of Sam Ryder tonight, superb performance and what a fantastic ambassador he has been for the UK throughout. Humble, kind, honest and unique. Cruel to miss out on what I think we know should have been a rightful win, but...couldn't have asked for any more effort from the guy tonight. Hopefully the BBC have had a wake up call this year on what actually wins Eurovision contests and we start to see some actual thought and effort put into it from now on, as they seemed to this year...carried really by a fantastic singer.

We are definitely proud of Sam! His efforts definitely will not go unnoticed. I think credit should also extend to Tap Music for convincing Sam to do it. I feel this BBC x Record Label partnership should continue as I think this is a way forward in the selection (as we Brits cannot be trusted with our votes lol). They would have sent more of those but don’t always have them to represent a flag on a bigger level. Eurovision is a mess which exists in its own universe and people either learn how to enjoy its senseless glory or not.

this is fine example that Europe hasn't been "biased against UK" like some people have claimed, you just have been sending bad/generic songs. same goes for Spain this year. last year Italy and France from big 5 got to see that all it takes is to send good song. and i am glad Brits see this also as a positive thing. Sam Ryder is the real winner for me personally (and i am no tiktoker). his song has been blasted on radio here (non UK) and surely he'll have awesome time touring and his songs being on charts.

Guy had nice voice, song was fine, but not something you'd remember few minutes later because there's dozens of similar songs and nothing strikes out. This will do plenty good for ESC (as well as Spain doing well too) and for UK of course. This and Moldova will def stay on my playlists. Both songs just make me so happy.

Sam Ryder is one of those special singers that does what he wants with his voice. In this live performance he didn't stick to the "studio version" and he surprised us with some good variations. Nice electric guitar in the end by the way. Finished 2nd overall with 466 points, 283 of witch from the juries.

l just learnt a line dance choreographed by Debbie Rushton in honour of Sam Ryder. lt's a beautiful dance with the steps perfectly in sync with the song and l was going through the steps in my mind while savouring Sam performing the song joyously with his long locks giving him the golden boy image...plus shades of Freddie Mercury and Brian May rolled into one! Amazing talent that does the UK proud, fresh from his Eurovision success!

Yeah, sadly they had to get rid of a verse and go from the Intro to the Chorus as they have a 3 minute limit. If you listen to the song on Spotify, you will hear the full version :). He technically won as the professionals voted for him but as with any public vote in place they go for the pity vote. I agree Ukraine was good but not a winner.

Не вижу в этом ничего плохого учиттья у самых лучших. Это скорее одна школа и музыкальная традиция. Я смотрела другие его видео,где он самовыражается и поёт песни других исполнителей в режиме музыкального экстпромта. У этого парня широкий диапазон и он легко импровизирует. Please don't feel anything other than the love and fellowship those votes represented. No one sane feels anything but horror and anger at the suffering being inflicted on the people of Ukraine. Many of us feel powerless to help, or unable to express our support. I believe the votes were an expression of that desire, however ineffectual that gesture might be in reality. Ukraine could have sent almost anything and the People would have wanted to support you. The courage and endurance of the People of Ukraine are humbling. Persevere. It is not those who can inflict the most but those who can endure the most who will prevail.

Brilliant song not just for a eurovision entry but a brilliant song in it's own right. Sam was never going to win and in his heart probably knew it but he conducted himself with great humility and showed respect and support for other entrants. He deserves success.

also for example last year France's singer Barbara Pravi said she actually preferred being second because she doesn't get as much pressure but it's still a great spot, and it helps being advertised.

He didn't go full out with this song, but he is probably the best voice to have ever graced the Eurovision stage. Check out Tiny Riot and his Tik Tok covers. I think he should have slayed it for all eternity with a song like those instead.

We never hated the Brits, it's just that sending washed up stars from the 60's, 70's, or 80's, and calling it a day doesn't get you votes. Also being an X Factor UK winner also won't automatically get you votes, most contestants have done the whole talent show circuit. Sam is amazingly talented and charismatic, the song was great, the staging was great, and millions of people recognise it. Congratulations!
