Usually I agree with you but in this case I do not You said the Mate X uses the same camera saving the costs for other 2 but samsung offers them even at a lower price than the Mate X... and when you need to videocall someone you're stuck with that half screen on the Mate X (and the worst side because of the camera bezel) On the samsung you can video chat on whatever screen you want Then you said that the screen that folds outwards is better but it's flawed at the beginning because it's not protected and even if you add ridges on the borders you'll still need to put it in your pocket and will almost certainly damage it, which in Samsung's case is not a problem at all Than the problem with 60hz on the cover display and 120hz on the main I could understand but the battery is not that big so supporting 2 (3 if you consider the main display as 2) high refresh rate displays is not really efficient I think... and you'll probably end up always opening it to use the bigger display so that isn't really a problem I think Samsung has the right idea for how the foldables form factors should be until an easily bendable glass like material comes out that doesn't scratch even with a diamond

The first one was like thats cool but with all those problems i dont want it, now it already looks like it better but still a bit to go before i buy one! The problem with the Mate X is that the weak flexible screen is on the outside - not great for durability

The only concern I have with outwards folding phones is screen durability. The flexible screen is FAR more likely to scratch exposed to the outside than it is from the inside.

A few days ago I got my Samsung Z Fold3 (an upgrade from my Note 10+). Quite happy with it and enjoyed your UKposts video on it. One issue that bugs me is the presentation of WhatsApp. Yes, all the screen sizes can be altered for the apps, however, on opening WhatsApp on the folding screen, WhatsApp uses the left side to display the names and the right side to display the messages, pictures, videos, etc. So, the information I am looking at has in fact become SMALLER on the screen. On a computer/laptop this works well, but on the Z Fold3 the reduced size is not something I like. Is there any way to have the messages, pictures, videos, etc. displayed on the full screen? Outward folding is extremely vulnerable. If you don't like this 2 screen set up, get a Z flip instead.

Yes, there's collaboration between MSFT and Samsung. Please remember, MSFT wants competition so they don't go to court. The best way to do that is to collaborate so consumers can have a choice. Also, remember at a Samsung event, MSFT was featured to promote their Microsoft 365 software on mobile.

The screen will be damaged quite easily for an outward folding phone.

Agree, even I (non-thinker that I am) wondered the same thing, including about the cameras. If you're going to have two screens, make one of them e-ink, great for reading, especially in bright situations.

I have to say that I like Samsungs approach more. I'm scared that you can extremely scratch Huaweis screen just by putting it into a pocket because it folds on the outside.

Dude IMHO you just nit picked the hell out of the phone, literally the first real polished foldable that actually is working besides it's price. I use the original Fold everyday and have zero problems with it, I actually switched from the Iphone X and love the fold and what it can do.

I'm interested in your opinion for my next upgrade. Going from a Note 9 that performed brilliantly and still is ...Im considering the S21Ultra , Z2Fold or possibly another Note. Only reason I'm not thinking of the Note first is I didn't use the S pen as much as I thought I would.

I personally prefer the inner fold over the outer fold. Just due to deliberate-ness of unfolding to get to the main screen and the effect that has on the way you use your phone. Less aimless checking and scrolling, more opening and using with purpose. Plus I worry about the fragility of the external display

until and unless we are able to make a stronger glass foldable display, we need samsung's design.

I prefer folding inward so the screen is protected. I live a ruff lifestyle, so I need to be able to have my screens protected.

I think Samsung design is better. You don't want to use foldable screen as your main one becomes is to fragile to scratching.

You can actually use both sets of cameras at the same time. OneUI allows you to take a picture of yourself taking a picture.

I have had the Fold 2 for the past month, went from an Iphone X to this. (Got tired of Apple not coming up with something original). I gotta say I DO MISS IOS for simplicity. BUT I LOVE the ability to convert from a standard smart phone to a tablet with a flip of the screen. I won't go back to Apple until they go to this expanding screen design and touch ID. Does it have a weird name sure. But its just a name, who cares. Does it work well? Yes it does!!

The problem with the Mate X is the fact that if you drop it on the edge of the foldable screen it will likely break the fragile display.

I got a ZTE that had two screens but when you folded it out you can tell the two screens werent the same.

You are forgetting one big thing in Haweii fold the display is outside so dropping it means an almost certain breaking of the a very very expensive glass also foldable glass or polymer will always be softer and thus will be prone to scratches as we can not put a screenguard.
