I think Chet would shine the best as a second (at least third) option on a contender just like he is right now on the Thunder squad, but love to be proved wrong. I see Wemby more the Giannis type and the leader of the team, while having a great shooting point guard that could feed him the ball.

I get Tre Jones isn’t a star but he is very good nonetheless, very underrated. Doesn’t make many mistakes, almost at all, he finds who he needs to find then hits the shots he needs to hit. He might not be able to collapse defenses on his own or create his own shot like better guards but it doesn’t mean he’s not good.

Tre Jones Is sneakily a top pg. Very rarely makes poor choices, has a float game and has amazing vision. He offers alot of what Trae young would except Trae is a scoring machine in comparison

He did play soccer as a goalkeeper whan he was younger : that's the reason why he has both hands, fast arms and a good ball trajectory reading. His mother (who is a former pro baller and an actual BB coach) chose to make him practice as a goalkeeper to prepare him to BB. We see the results.

Freakish. A dynasty in the making. This fixture might be one of the best in the years ahead. Sochan is developing so well and is starting to have confidence in his play, and vassell is as good as any shot creator combo guard in the league. If they could get a Trae young to accompany tre Jones they're gonna be so fun to watch and probably a play in team come late next year. All else they'd need is a really solid 3&D wing who they can probably find in the draft

@@adolfBBC You're right. Most people forget that Sochan is only a 2nd year player and Vassell is still on his rookie contract. Signing Trae would be a step back. He is valuable only on one side of the court. Whenever his shots are not falling, he is unplayable. Every championship team is locked on D come the playoffs. If Spurs were to trade with Hawks, getting DJM back would be only sensible option.

@@sleepyheadz another arguement to that is wembanyama alone defends at such a high level you can afford to have a smaller guard who gets blown by alot. Definitely would be an easy coaching adjustment come playoff time but wembenyamas ability to basically defend the perimeter from the paint is in my opinion a green light for Trae young to come in. It'll cost them piss all and if anything will help wemby stay healthier and will rack up Ws in the reg season. Trae is averaging 27-10 for this hawks team. He'd get at least 8 assists a night from lobs to vic. It's really a no Brainer as he fits their timeline and they'll still have draft capital and young players. If they get Trae young, they can even play sochan at the 1 during those defensive sets. While I do see what you're saying I think in today's nba, unless you're the top 2% of your position in defensive rating you're always better off looking towards an offensive talent. Might lose a lil on the plus minus individually but the kind of nights Trae will have hell be responsible for like 30 - 50 points a game week in week out. I don't care how small he is, in this nba that is priceless. They'll still have pieces and picks to trade for up and coming stars going forward also. I'd like them to look at jarace walker from indy as he's struggling for mins, they need an athletic two way sf who can assist sochan in creating chaos. Super excited for the team nonetheless. To add - having an excellent offense tires out good defenses and good offenses. Like the other night we saw kawhi falter in the 4th against the lakers because he was defending hard all game he ran out of offensive gas. Something to think about

Having a defensive presence at the opponent's point of attack disrupts their set and cause more breakdowns. Just look at the Bucks after trading away Jrue for Lillard. Opposing teams are simply strolling their way into half court sets even with Giannis as a defensive monster. With the Hawks, Trae is the first option, so his shooting numbers are career highs. Can Spurs afford to make him the #1 option? And if he tries to become a pass first guard, how effective could he be? Trae will definitely help the existing Spurs lineup, but is he that much more efficient than any other guard? Just by eye test, Malcom Brogdon would be an even better fit with his size and ability. He was ROTY when drafted by the Bucks if that means anything. He has extremely high bball IQ and personal maturity. No silly turnovers from him and he's shown to be able to pace the game when he has the rock. And he's not the only one. Getting Dejonte back instead of Trae would also be a great move, and there are others like him. So, while Trae would love to suit up alongside Wemby, who wouldn't? I bet even Jordan Poole would love that, but that doesn't mean anything to the Spurs. So if Pop does consider Trae, I'd be very very surprised. I'd expect him to put the ball in the hands of European guards rather than AAU ones. Someone like Nikola Topic in the coming draft would be in a more familiar mold of Tony Parker, able to equally dish or slash. If Pop can sign a decent center to give the Spurs option to put Wemby at the 4, or even draft Alex Sarr, they'll have such an uneven matchup against most team both defensively and offensively. That's why I'm not concerned about the losing this season. Pop would definitely remember how he almost wasted the career of David Robinson before they tanked to put Timmy around him together with a young European core of Parker and Manu.

Valid points. That was my initial view on Trae being there, I guess the media has shifted my logic with flashy names. You're right. Dj would be great but he's not really even a 2nd option if they're looking to be competitive, he's more of a 2 guard who I suppose would still do well as a rotational piece with vasell. It's all around excitement for me regardless and as long as pops there I believe the right choices will be made. Hopefully we see a Shaq effect and teams will have to start getting bigger, hence more physical. I'd love for them to get a starting 5 going with 6'6+ pieces excluding vasell. Who was the sf in those spurs title teams? Kawhi?
