Even the models that took self-isolation into account were predicting hundreds of thousands or even millions dead. Turned out to be bullshit. Sadly, the damage to the lives of millions of working people and our entire economy is very very real. "Look at where we are" indeed.

Because the only conclusion that a reasonable person could possibly draw from the data available is that the pandemic was orders of magnitude less bad than originally predicted by the doom-sayers. Even if the final death toll was only 100, people like you would still come out and claim that it was a complete disaster.
