Better get that engine cover open and the blower going longer before you crank it or one day it will be just one large boom.

Always open your engine compartment on a cold start, gas fumes can explode... didn't hear a blower before the cold start either, but I never trust a blower anyway.

Outside the fact the blowers aren't on, and it's wayyyy too early to starter up. I've agreed with my neighbors not to hit the keys before 9 am. Peanut heads or oval port? Straight stock 7.4L sounds like. A cam swap and some new exhaust manifolds and full MSD ignition would surprise you. MSD ignition made a Ton of difference. pro billet dist., coil and 6M 2L box (Blue Box) best money I ever spent, next to props. They start easy so timing is on point.

No need to run the ventilation blowers for the engine compartment before starting?
@tomsreviews2383 роки тому
If you really want to wake the neighbors up, have the boat explode in fire.
@imtheonevanhalen15573 роки тому
@@tomsreviews238 I kinda agree, but if you know your boat it's kinda a land lubber kinda thing...here's the deal with that. If it was that big an issue out of the factory, ALL gasoline boats would be mandated timers for the bilge blower on the ignition switch.....no starter until the blower timed out. This cat knows his boat....no dicking with the throttle to get it to fire, and it hit slow idle right from the get-go....
@ttime8933 роки тому
@@imtheonevanhalen1557 it is not legal for a manufacturer to install a blower to the ignition switch, mainly because the blower is electrical, which causes sparks when it's in operation. The "proper" way (as suggested by U.S. and Canadian Coast Gaurd), is to physically raise the engine hatches, look and smell for gas/fuel leaks, start the blower, THEN start the motor. I know this, from being a licensed marine mechanic for 30+ years,,, PLUS, having lost a friend, due to starting his boat, without taking the necessary precautions (there was a fuel leak and the spark from the starter, ignited the fumes). I'm not being a "knit picker", just suggesting the safe practice to starting a boat.
@justgotohm47753 роки тому
@@imtheonevanhalen1557 Dude I’ve spent my entire life working on or around boats, both pleasure, early in my career, and commercial, for the last 20 years. To not crack the cover or blow the engine compartment is absolutely negligent, especially on a dated go fast like that one. Skipping basic common sense practices because (you know your boat) is laughable. That’s a cool boat though, even if it wakes up the lake on that pristine morning, very nice.

Late answer but the water is not coming from the bores, it's being directed through the block and heads and channeled out through the exhausts.
