I've seen families of 9 living on buses this size. They definitely could've made a bunk space for the kid

I love watching all of these converted bus episodes - I lived in a converted bus for a majority of my child/teenage years (before it had caught on like it has nowadays). So I like to see the different ways each family has converted their bus. My family went from just having one child in the bus to having 5 children living there (that's a total of 7 people in the bus - not including pets), just in my own time in a bus I have seen multiple renovations of our bus from single beds to bunk beds, to sliding convertible beds. I think there is a big misconception with people who haven't lived in a bus for a very long time that once you build the bus that you can't change the floor plan, but let me tell you with each curve life throws your way your home is going to change. Its like re-arranging your furniture - just a little more difficult. Thanks for bringing another version of one of these wonderful bus-houses on your channel.

I’m with the majority. My child is getting the bedroom and I’m sleeping on the “couch”. What are they thinking....”we don’t cook much” yet they chose a pantry over a shower? 🤦🏼‍♀️.

I really just don't have enough english skills to describe how impressed I am about this channel. Every time I come here, I'm getting so, like, relaxed and finding some kinda inner balance, because you guys are literally shining and so interested in what you are doing, sharing with the audience so many smiles and such a warm feelings. I don't know, that is something I just can't describe with words. Thank you so much for what you're doing, every video and every tiny detail in them are awesome.

I am seeing some negative comments in here. Remember they said they moved in recently and still figuring it out. I see they may add a extra little trailer for shower and maybe change up the design to accommodate their growing son.

This bus is super pretty, but functionally it seems like kind of a hot mess. It's like they didn't really take into account their needs as a family? Idk some of the ways they used the space feels really wasteful (e.g., a ton of counter space even though they don't really cook, a pullout bed/bench conversion for the kid instead of a bunk bed or something equally as private and space-efficient, etc.).

i cannot see how it is that much fun for the child .

Everyday you live, you should learn something new. Their son will learn so much.

I love these upgraded school buses! And the colour scheme is gorgeous. They've made it look like a home rather than just a bus

I would have made different choices for my children. Bathing/hygiene is important. So is privacy for a growing boy who will be coming up on puberty before too long.

School buses can be utilized any number of ways- a home is a great way to go. Schools are mandated to get rid of buses that reach a certain age or mileage (I think it's 10 years/100,000 miles). The cost can be way under $10K and they have a LOT of life left in them. They've been maintained the whole time, and are built like tanks. FAR better than spending money on a new RV.

My suggestions: a shower, a bedroom for the child, improved cooking facilities and bigger kitchen sink. The headroom issue would be more difficult to change now. But it looks very nice, and credit given for what they've achieved. Well done.

Man i'm in love with the lifestyle I only have one question though: How will the kid make true friends while living on the road? Sure he'll live a lot of life but at the same time he would be losing some critical parts of his childhood. That's my only concern. I'm 18 and I plan on creating my own motorhome to live out my adult live (or at least my 20s) in. Thank you for these videos by the way.

It's stunning. I always am concerned for a kid alone but, to each their own. There's always pros and cons. Love the converted busses.

Your son has the best life ever. You can see just how happy he is. Many kids would love this kind of life.

I know of people who live in RV's and travel, home-school, etc. I don't think that the "couch" is any different than a rv conversion bed. And I'm willing to bet that this family will evolve and morph into new ideas(homes) as he grows. I have 3 boys and their "private time" didn't take up much. Most of it was "napping" and video gaming. Other than that, they were all up in my space, lol. Which, in the end, there are people who barely spend time with their children in a standard brick and mortar. This child is getting all of his mother and father. Isn't that awesome! Survival class, whuttttt!!!! Hell yeah.

I lived in a business district as a child. All i wanted was a conventional home. I'm sure this kid wants the same.

I love that they're doing this and the bus is a gorgeous! I hope they stay in tune with their son's changing needs. As my daughter approached teenage years, being planted somewhere became important to her, so planted we are... for two more years when she goes to college!

No matter the way the place look like, the intro is always "this bus/house/ garage/ looks so cool"

Great that you interviewed all members of the family. Although children are always/mostly accepting of the living situation it is great to here their point of view. When you have the opportunity perhaps give them some more time to talks about their thoughts.

Hi Living Big Family. I admire your sense of adventure. Your son is going to look back and have great stories to share with his friends future significant other and children if chooses. Many of the critics are materialistic and unable to imagine actually being with their offspring for hours on end.

Does the son not have a space of his own ?maybe instead of a closet put a bunk bed so he is not sleeping next to the door and on a couch .....the kitchen counter could have been made smaller to make sure he had a small area on this bus ...the whole space looks nice but not a place I would have my family living in

I wonder if they considered how isolating it would be for their son. Maybe it works well for them but how could that poor kid ever have any sense of normalcy? He doesn't even have any private space to call his own. Seems as though it would be very lonely for him.

These bus conversions are cool but I always think of safely. Living on the east coast the things that go on is frightening at times. I believe these bus and van conversions are happened on the west coast. I couldn't see this in NYC, Chicago, Detroit. I need a toilet, and a shower. This is critical for me. As for there son, he needs friends to play with. Bless them

Holy Cow people of criticism...slow down on slamming the parents. No friends for starters?...wrong...there are sooo many great people on the road and yes, they make friends and keep in touch and get together again and again...I don't think they pulled him out of school to be photographers...they already were photographers. I think they pulled him out of school to live an experience WITH THE PARENTS and see and do things that he may never have done otherwise. Its great to pass judgement on ones choices when they are not exactly what you THINK they should be. Always wonderful to know that there are critics that know better what lifestyle fits mine or other families. With the quality of public education (and yes I can speak of that as that is where I am employed) I wouldn't think twice about home schooling on the road...what an adventure. They may decide in a year that it doesn't work for them, BUT that year on the road will be something that young fella will remember and cherish for many years to come. They are new to the lifestyle and seeing if it fits...and yes, call it selfish if you like, but the fact that many parents make decisions every day to suit their own needs and take the kids along for the journey...whether it be moving to another country for employment...or private schools... or whatever ... the kids don't really have any more input than this one...this one is just lucky enough to be able to have 50 states as his backyard! Good luck to the family and may your travels be safe and full of wonder!

This is by far my #1 favorite skoolie, which is a "topic" I am very interested in and have been following for 4+ years. First, the age of the bus makes it beautiful! I'm sure you realize that it looks like an old woodie wagon "Surfin' USA!" That is just so esthetically pleasing! Then inside..... Real Furniture that has lived a life before it was here! There is no rule that everything that comes into the camper has to be a transformer 3× over! Now, I know that there are people out there (somewhere I don't know) who really love cooking and must have a "real" kitchen. But it seems like every conversion of every single whatever vehicle MUST have a full kitchen, which takes up one whole side of the living space. I think many people have bought into the idea that, "Now we're simplifying and traveling...this is the time to do 200% more food preparation than we've ever done in our whole lives!" My history is that both of my parents were college professors who had the whole summer off. My dad would teach courses in that very short but intense mini semester/term. That was our vacation money. We bought an old, very small Sunbeam and used that for limited excursions that first summer...I was probably 8 or 9. Sold that and bough a new Shasta. We traveled for 7-9 weeks straight every summer! We had a Ford Maverick and my dad used the Shasta to drive to work every day for that 7 or 8 years! So now I'm a dreamer. Serious health issues have sidelined me for years now. But, just, ?....maybe one day....

The child would outgrow a bunk bed. They think about him growing and needing more room to sleep long term. Thanks for the video. Yes a bathroom is nice but they have an opportunity to maybe change things as they go. Alot of people change their conversions to best suit their life at time! I like that the table folds down. This bus is personalized. I like the sentiment behind their bus!

I loved this episode, is a fresh change from the everyday life controlled by big corporations and such, this bus is huge too, many people are criticizing stuff without even knowing the kid, saying he's miserable as if they were him themselves lol. But here's the thing, every individual is different, even if you think something is unbelievably unacceptable, for others it could be perfectly fine, if the kid is the curious kind, rather than a boring life with academics alone and "playmates" (not including that he could get bullied too), he would enjoy more exploring and being creative wherever he is, many kids even prefer sleeping in couches or even the floor with a blanket, it's just different lifestyles and mindsets. If he learns about nature and self-sufficiency this early, and how to appreciate everything you have in life, he will be a way better person in the future, and happier, wether he keeps living in freedom or within the city, whatever it is, you have no right to judge someones life and lifestyle, specially if you'll not be responsible for it. Aside from that, I wonder though, how beautiful it would be to travel in such bus and park in an open field and look at the stars at night 😍.

I'm 73 years old. As a 9 year old I would have been all over the opportunity to travel around with my parents. They may have to change some things as their son matures but for now he's got the best deal going. (my opinion...no one has to think like I do)

you did an excellent job! I agree with finding an old bus to restore compared to buying an RV. You can easily tell this bus is old with the manual entrance door linkage. Nowadays the school bus doors use an electric motor or air operated with switches solenoids wiring etc etc. I'm inspired!

I know this family personally and have for many years. I cannot say enough amazing things about them. The people on here that are criticizing them and saying they are selfish and didn't think of their son, you could not be more off!!! They are the most caring , loving and selfless people I know. They considered Bryce in every aspect of this. They are giving him experiences that he could NEVER get in a classroom. They are not going to be living on this bus forever, they are taking a year or so out of their lives to bring their family closer and experience this adventure together. Bryce is in heaven and loving every second of it. He will have plenty of years with his own bedroom. I look up to this family for their courage and will to follow your dreams!! I love you all tons and Bryce is so much better off with the experiences your giving him versus bad television, social media ,UKposts etc. I can't wait to see what's next for you guys!! Decided to do a big storage area in the back an yet not give your son a place of his own

I was already a bit leery about them having a child full time with them, having him sleeping in the couch but what she said at 10:10 solidified her selfishness for me. I'm not saying make your life about your child like many go to extremes to do, but to callously admit he has to fit your lifestyle with no change is wrong to me.

School Bus living is one that I've strongly considered over the years, but the stigma is too great for me to bear. Perhaps if I met a gal that was already interested in that sort of thing. Single life out of a van or that sort of thing is not ideal.

This lifestyle would have suited me really well as a kid, we tent camped a lot & had a camper too, hated to come back to the city after those outings & when we were home I had my own room but never wanted to be in it, slept on the couch begged to sleep in a tent in the backyard... this family knows how to work together, they're getting it all figured out ~:-) ☆☆☆☆☆
