Dr Bob brings you SCP Foundation Euclid Class object, SCP-5056 The Constant Companions Animation.
Join the DR BOB SQUAD by going to / drbob and become an Honorary Member of the Dr. Bob Research Staff!
SCP 5056 -A is a hairless humanoid with matte grey skin and ragged facial scars approximating two eyes and a mouth. It possesses no observable physical form, manifesting only in reflective surfaces - displaying a preference for glass, particularly lenses. It causes atomic-level degradation to optical equipment and media on which it appears. It can be seen by all personnel, but only SCP5056 -B can hear it "speak"; it was previously hypothesized that SCP-5056-B was experiencing stress-related auditory hallucinations, but his claims have since been verified.
SCP-5056-B is a white male human being, 172 centimetres tall with brown eyes and thinning, greying brown hair.

A physical manifestation of depression, self doubt and insecurity. This is as educational as it is entertaining, while strangely inspiring. An SCP about taking control of your emotions and a huge break from the nihilistic tone of other SCP stories. Whoever wrote this, and the summary this channel added at the end is just a chef's kiss.

This is actually great therapy advice, take an issue that's bugging you and personify it and treat it as such as this SCP. Let it 'berate' you with bad/hurtful thoughts but intercept them logically, again as described here. Because otherwise you'd find youself arguing against yourself and creating a positive feedback loop in which those thoughts get worse. I use this kind of technique and it really works

Well your internal monologue it doesn't shut off when you're in the shower or doing literally anything! At least mine doesn't. My internal monologue is running 24/7. To be fair I'm a big reader and I am a writer so I think that may play a part in why I have a constant narration in my head and I can't shut it off or it could be the fact I have anxiety. Doug could be a metaphor for anxiety. I've noticed people with anxiety issues don't have the ability to think about nothing. Like my husband can literally shut off his thoughts! Like sometimes he just likes to drive in silence. So I asked him, what do you think about when you're driving in silence? He's like oh that's the point I'm not thinking about anything I just kind of shut off my mind for a while. And I'm like HOW????! 🤣

I'm very uncomfy with the idea that intrusive thoughts and anxiety are in any way beneficial cause that's just not true and while it's a relateable story with a nice happy end the idea of cherishing your anxiety as a path to self improvement is so dangerous.
@WiseWordsbyWiki
@WiseWordsbyWiki Рік тому
@@Laezar1 arguable its not doing that, but is showing a different type of approach to anxiety and intrusive thought, though first: Anxiety is actually beneficial, its uncontrolled anxiety that is dangerous. Thomas Sanders (yes, the Vine guy) actually has a series where he interacts with various aspects of his personality and when Anxiety leaves it is pointed out that while he has no fear to start a new project, he also had no self-preservation, care about appearance or fear of dying. Cause anxiety is a built in warning system that makes us double check ourselves, it is the lack of examining the anxiety to see if it is a faulty alarm that is the issue. Second, giving your intrusive thoughts a name has been found to be useful as while some find it is hard to argue with themselves, it is very easy to fight back someone insulting you. Philip didn't suddenly develop these issues, the SCP simply voiced them in an external manner which is what he and the story point out is the beneficial change. Phillip has no issue arguing with Doug and by extension his intrusive thoughts, because it is a floating head that nags him constantly and that he views as an annoyance more than a source of wisdom. Phillip has no issue pointing out to Doug his fears are unfounded for similar reasons. This SCP is just a living version of a method of handling intrusive thoughts and anxiety that already existed
@Laezar1
@Laezar1 Рік тому
@@WiseWordsbyWiki Obviously not talking about healthy worry here, but about unhealthy anxiety. And yeah no, it's not the same to try giving your intrusive thoughts a name than to have an actual entity haunt you. But even then, the issue is how it's presented as a good thing, as if hearing those things was helpful in itself. And that's very much not ok. Like there are people in the comments who are litterally saying a friend who does that would be a great friend when it's just plain abuse. I understand what the intent is going for, I don't think it's a bad intent, but the result makes me very uncomfortable. (and not in a good uncomfy SCP way, more in a "this might drive someone to kill themselves" way). I know it sure as hell wouldn't have helped my mental health if I had been at a worse time in my life when seeing this.

An SCP that is much less evil, and more along the lines of self-reflection, demons within us that may not have physical form, but are powerful enough to be important to us. That is the difference here. 5056 does hurt us, but is there act as a siren toward our faults and shortcomings. To point out what is wrong and find ironically help us pursue what makes us happy. There will always be hurt. Their will always be strain. Yet for 5056, it is all about overcoming the pain. An excellent choice of SCP, Doc. 5056 is, arguably, beneficial to the foundation in the same manner as SCP-4205, In the Eyes of The Beholder. Sure it will hurt, but that hurt and or loss was possibly meant to teach us a sobering lesson. In that case, it was telling us we are always our own harshest critic. For 5056, it is about insecurity and pain, but can be shut up so long as we learn to speak up about what we want

It's interesting to me that most SCP documents read like a horror story told backwards, with details describing the anomaly followed by reports showing what it did to people. But Dr. Bob likes to present them in a classic style where he starts with the origin story.

This is the most wholesome scp I have ever heard of. And may I go on to say though basic and simple the animation is, I can't explain it but the way the animation is done it really brings it to life. Along side the enthusiastic narration of every video. I've always liked SCP, but this channel has never failed to bring me back for more. (well, except for that time period I decided to avoid anything from the horror genre for.. personal reasons.)

Ok firstly, that animation work on "Doug" is extremely interesting and amazing. Secondly this is extremely interesting for an SCP. Thanks so much for sharing this. As a person diagnosed with Anxiety and depression I really enjoyed this. I also appreciate that it even protects him. I'm also so happy it allows them to be married. That his feeling reach "Doug" and it knows the areas where he no longer carries doubt so it has nothing to say.

This video literally brought a tear to my eye because I relate to Phil! I deal with mental illness and even though I am unable to see a manifestation of what I hear in my head I do characterize it in that manner. I’ve never thought about it in this way and instead of taking the judgmental belittling criticism I hear in my head I will attempt to take what I hear and heal. Thank you so much for this video!

That's kind of how smoking weed was for me.. It was useful to be able to focus on things I needed to work on but it became kind of obsessive and existential and I had to stop. Opiates are the only thing I've ever tried that actually cleared my mind and made me feel almost like a kid again but they also screwed up my health so I had to quit those too. But I mean, SCP-5056 _really_ reminds me of what it was like for me to smoke weed... I'm always introspective and conscientious anyway but that just took it to a crushing level.

Shutting it down is not always easy, but the fact that i finally got to where i can shut it down is one of the biggest pieces of progress over my own brain ive ever made. this strikes me as a journey most humans with basic feelings and empathy would need to take at some point. whoever wrote this one is amazing.

I kind of like this interpretation of inner dialogue. Many people really have no way of addressing their insecurities. Such a direct exterior confrontation provides a representative structure for those that might need a nudge in that direction. Its hard to address yourself and face your worst flaws and insecurities and address them, but its much much easier to oppose an exterior party. What a clever concept.

scp 5056 object class: euclid Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5056 is contained by the Janitorial and Maintenance Section of Site-43. Its position depends upon, is determined by, and may be directed via the work schedule of Philip Eugene Deering (JM64/SCP-5056-B). SCP-5056-B is confined to Site-43. He must not be assigned tasks in the research or experimentation laboratories, operating theatres, administrative offices, containment facilities or wetworks of Site-43. He must nevertheless be assigned a daily duty schedule. He is not to be apprised of his SCP status. SCP-5056-A and B are not to be separated. In the event of SCP-5056-B's death, selected staff will execute SARGENT Protocol to neutralize SCP-5056-A. SARGENT Protocol documents have been forwarded to suitable personnel; personnel who have not received said documents have no additional containment duties in relation to these subjects. 43NET Standing Orders [FILTERED: SCP-5056] Standing Order 5056-01: A network of wall-mounted mirrors, each in visual range of at least two others and all inspected on a regular schedule, must be maintained within each sector of Site-43. Standing Order 5056-02: No personnel requiring ocular devices may be admitted to Site-43. Description: SCP-5056-A is a hairless humanoid with matte grey skin and ragged facial scars approximating two eyes and a mouth. It possesses no observable physical form, manifesting only in reflective surfaces - displaying a preference for glass, particularly lenses. It causes atomic-level degradation to optical equipment and media on which it appears. It can be seen by all personnel, but only SCP-5056-B can hear it "speak"; it was previously hypothesized that SCP-5056-B was experiencing stress-related auditory hallucinations, but his claims have since been verified. SCP-5056-B is a white male human being, 172 centimetres tall with brown eyes and thinning, greying brown hair. Phil.jpg JM64 in Acroamatic Abatement Facility AAF-D twenty-three days before reclassification as SCP-5056-B. Addendum 5056-1, Phenomenological Overview: Technician JM64, Philip E. Deering, joined the Site-43 Janitorial and Maintenance Section on 07/21/1999. His Hiring and Regulation Section performance reviews describe a reliable, amiable, melancholy worker exhibiting no anomalous properties. He maintained sporadic contact with family, including an estranged brother, and engaged in brief romantic relationships invariably terminated by his partners. DougMop.jpg SCP-5056-A manifesting in Acroamatic Abatement Facility AAF-B. SCP-5056-A first appeared to Deering on 09/09/2002. Since that day it has followed him without exception, without pause, and without rest. Its interest in its subject has not lapsed once in eighteen years. SCP-5056-A will not engage with entities other than SCP-5056-B, unless the latter is threatened; experimental and incident data demonstrate that it can perceive other entities, but chooses to ignore them. SCP-5056-A's actions are inversely responsive to the emotional needs of SCP-5056-B: it opens its scars wide, gurns and screeches when he is at rest, and engages him in disagreeable conversation when he is despondent. (Popular topics include mistakes SCP-5056-B has made, social interactions he has botched, absent family members, his personal hygiene and the futility of human existence.) SCP-5056-B therefore defines his counterpart in antithesis, though he claims and demonstrates no control over this relationship. SCP-5056-B has become inured to his counterpart's antics through long association, and rarely reacts to them with shock or dismay. He frequently fails to react at all; by 2007 he displayed such degraded responses to sudden audio or visual stimuli that his more technical duties were reassigned to personnel unburdened by supermundane phenomena. He applauds particularly creative, invasive or entertaining assaults by SCP-5056-A, and offers constructive criticism. When separated from SCP-5056-B, SCP-5056-A emits a constant tone at 119 decibels which can be heard throughout Site-43. Because of this, and because of SCP-5056-B's duties in well-traveled sections of the Site, long-term staff are constantly aware of and have become accustomed to SCP-5056-A. Many regard the apparition as an unofficial Site mascot and have acquired the habit of greeting it when encountered, often employing personalized nicknames. SCP-5056-B initially used the personal pronoun "it" to describe his counterpart; after 01/29/2003 he exclusively uses male personal pronouns. His personal appellation for the apparition is "Doug," but when referring to it indirectly he prefers the term "my Employee of the Month Award." No such award has ever been granted to him, and in light of his present duties no such award is likely forthcoming. Deteriorations of SCP-5056-B's mental and emotional states projected by his first ten Hiring and Regulation reviews have not occurred. >> LEVEL 4 CLEARANCE OR HIGHER: SCP-5056 EXPERIMENT AND INCIDENT REPORTS

We all have our self-doubts and worries that we aren't good enough for anyone or even yourselves.
