The Canadian River Valley of Texas was first explored by Spanish Explorers in the 1500s but wasn't permanently settled by Europeans until the late 1800s. Join me as I explore a portion of this historic river valley.

Another place I want to take my motorcycle and ride. Those of us that live on the llano estacado refer to this part of Texas as Artic Texas. Come in winter to see why.

No need... I experienced it for three years in Abilene. Nothing holding back an Arctic Northern, except barbed wire and sage brush. 🥶

I didn't know the Apache were there before the Comanche. Interesting video.

@@gregcollins7602 Yeah, I was always told that the Apache were exceptionally skilled horse back warriors.
@gregcollins7602
@gregcollins7602 2 роки тому
@@tomcaldwell5750 there is a false narrative out there that the Comanche obtained horses from the Spanish and were the first horse warriors. Apache had been stealing and riding horses ever since the Spanish arrived and even traded horses to the Comanche.

Excellent video. Born and raised in the Texas Panhandle love the history you share on your channel. Appreciated your highlights on the native american period in the region. If you've never read "Empire of the Summer Moon" I highly recommend it.

Awesome video, excellent footage & narration! As mentioned, quite surprise to see the decent bit of elevation around there. might plan a major detour after next trip to PD Canyon area - much appreciate!

If you're kayaking the Canadian River and accidentally hit an object you'll somehow hear in the wind "Oops, Sorrey my friend from south of the border".

I did some work in Canadian in the late 1970’s when I was a young petroleum landman. I remember that the hotel I stayed at was a converted bank. The teller windows and drive thru stations were still there. Very strange.

I can't help but imagine if the Canadian river is slated for a chemical disaster by way of Railway derailments. I've seen more than a few and more than several railway derailments over fresh water river's. To not notice and see that; you're in a sad state of affairs.
