She made it sound better because the verse went from a muttled (all the words run together) in the uncensored version- Dundundundundundunduuuuuuuuuuunnn. To an emphasizd. DUN DUN DUN DUNDUUUUUUUuun If that makes any sense 😂 I’m a writer. Not a songwriter…but songwriters write their songs. Only dif is I can’t think up an original tune to save my life. So writers (poetry prose etc) write on pentameter. College taught me the rules. Real artists break them. Iambic pentameter is a hard thing to avoid, but it’s bubble gum to me. Bille Never went iambic in the 2nd half. (Mary had a little lamb is iambic pentameter ) Most songs use that rhyming pattern. Billies is all over the place! She writes imperfectly perfect. What I learned in all my creative writing courses comes back to me when I listen to music. (I ultimately became a wildlife biologist so I forget the rules and regs of writing and transitions. Until I hear a song like this. It caught my attention and everything I’d forgotten from years ago as a dreamer in college came back. It Someone who either knew the rules well enough to break em, or came outa the gate breaking em from the start. Doesn’t matter. It works. It shook me. Wasn’t expecting it…I love to be surprised…as long as it’s not by a bear.
