Awe, my mom owned a flower shop in the 80s-90s. She was famous for making those permanent flower vases. Although she had to use a product we could only buy at a particular floral wholesaler. Elmer's didn't sell clear glue back then. Of course, hers always included her signature (She added something that secretly let the world know she personally created her arrangements, bouquets, etc.) but I LOVE that the basic concept is coming back. 💜

@@misshulabuloothe1st953 She hid a special, classy, but inexpensive (fake, but higher end) pearl into the arrangement. Nothing super flashy, wouldn't distract from the overall look. The color/design was unique, provided by that wholesaler, created just for her shop. For regular customers, they enjoyed looking for it. She was very creative in how she did it.

The clear glue in the vase is a heck of a lot cheaper than resin which gives you the same effect. Never thought of using glue. Very cool. When you did your stained glass piece, I notice you used puffy paint, I lucked out and found black hot glue sticks on Amazon and I love it. I did a wine bottle similiar to what you did with just making different shapes, almost like puzzle pieces, then went in and colored it with alcohol inks. Turns out great.

@TsukasaFanTc
@TsukasaFanTc Рік тому
Depends on the craft too! Clear Glue should be fine for things that are temporary or seldom handled, while Resin will last much longer if it is something that will be handled often (like jewelry!) Glue will retain a softer texture while resin is much harder. Glue will yellow quicker than Resin (Resin will sometimes yellow if exposed to enough sunlight) Glue isn't a bad tip for something fun and inexpensive- especially if prone to mistakes (Like I am! XD ) Plus Glue is a lot safer to use around pets and little ones while Resin needs to be handled in its own well-ventilated environment. I don't have human children, but I do have a couple of clingy cats who lament my isolation while I play with resin. I'd definitely try it some time!

You can also use a hot glue gun with ultra clear hot glue sticks and add small drops here and there to several petals on each flower. When the glue dries it looks like water/dew/rain drops on the flowers to make them look even more realistic. I like to tip the petal downward for a few seconds as soon as the drop of glue touches it so the glue slowly starts to move downward just enough to give each drop the appearance of movement. Its a very effective way to transform silk flowers into realistic looking live flowers just after a fresh rain. 🌼🌺😊

Love the ideas. For the first one. How long does it take for the glue to dry? I did this over a month ago and it is still not dry.

Is it dry now? 😂 I was thinking that it would probably take a while for it to dry, but I didn't know how long. I figured maybe a couple days?

Awesome Ideas. I flow paint vases, and I have used Elmer's Clear Glue in my paint mixes, so I'm going to do this with a clear vase . I'm sharing this with my contacts. Thank You for the inspiration. (I'm subscribed+all)

I would actually like to try my own rendition of the stained glass one! :D it would make some fun gifts for friends! I wonder if glue bubbles would pop under a flame like Resin does? Also the sun and moon canvases turned out beautifully! they looked as if they could have been from a little boutique shop

Have you tried Gallery Glass paint? It's fabulous for faux stained glass...colors are transparent so it looks more like glass.

@@paulablock3202 yes actually! Back in the 90s My mom and grandmother made gallery Glass window clings that hung on my childhood windows for years! Gallery Glass would definitely be the higher quality option :) but I never thought to use glue for a cheap and quick option

For the "stained glass," you could also use a DQ straw for that little "lip" on it. It takes practice, but it will give you better control over your medium.😁

I tried this method with the glass vase, artificial flowers, decorative pebbles and clear Elmer's glue and so far the glue is still fluid and has not dried after a week. How long did it take for the glue to dry on your project? This information would definitely be helpful. Thanks in advance for responding.

I made a vase with sand on bottom. Pebbles and stones it looks beautiful but it's been 2 days and it still hasn't gotten hard. I'm making them for wedding centerpieces and i don't have much time. Is there a way to make the process faster?

I did this with about 2‐3 inches of glue. It took about 3 weeks to fully dry and half of it evaporated. I had to add more back in and wait even longer. Definite fail

This did not…I repeat DID NOT work out for me 😂. My Elmer’s glue must’ve been defective. When it finally did dry (actually closer to 2 weeks), about half the glue disappeared…and not because it was clear, and the other half pulled from the sides and flower stems. When I try it again, I’ll use E6000 or B7000. Hopefully I’ll get better results with one of those.

Very cool ideas! On the stained glass piece could I use some transparent watercolor paint mixed with the clear glue? This way the stained glass wouldn't be opaque. The tubes of watercolor paint list whether the color is transparent, opaque or semi transparent. Just a thought.
