I’m new to Sigma cameras (fp L) and find it encouraging to hear about commitment to the form factor. It’s the best camera I’ve ever had, and I’ve had a lot, especially the modular form factor combined with the spectacular results.

I am waiting so HARD, for the full frame Foveon !!!!!!!!!!!🥰

Came here for a Foveon update. Leaving here looking for a Foveon update. :) I've written this off ages ago, actually. The power of phones and modern mirrorless cameras (aside from the fp) have really provided so much amazing image quality that as the years go on, the hurdles required to replace anything on the market today just grow higher and higher.

Sounds like they have another camera on the way. Excited to see what they do

When do you release 28mm in Contemporary line lenses?

Loved my fp so much. It was my first product from Sigma in my 20+ career years. Used it about 3 years primary for video as A and B cam and for photo on vacation. Fp earned me a lot of money, it was really good investment and fun to use. But sold it few days ago and switched to Sony FX6. And while image from fp imo is better, FX6 is proper A cam (SDI, XLR, TC in/out, big battery etc.). But for me main advantage FX6 over fp is: streamline 10 bit workflow with slog3. What I see in FX6's viewfinder and BMD Video Assist 12G is exactly the image I get in Resolve after slog3 to Rec709 lut applied. It's not the case with fp: camera lcd and hdmi show you incorrect latitude (in reality camera sees MUCH more) and therefore you can't use LUT to preview your actual image. It is so frustrating to explain directors or clients that they will get everything in post. With cDNG and BRAW from fp every time I faced one problem: my clients didn't know how to work whith it. And badly sometimes colorist asked me how to develop images from fp because the don't know that camera!!! Hope next fp will have clear workflow for video, OLPF and I can use it as B cam or has mechanical (or fast stacked sensor) shutter and I will buy it to use with my Leica lenses as photo cam. p.s. IMO fp is still the best hybrid camera to work in professional video/cinema environment (reilable, it never overheats, pro filenaming, frames, false color/waveform, customization, simple menus and absolutly beatifull colors)

I completely agree that I wish a new FF cine zoom would be released. Currently, there is only one 24-35mm FF cine zoom. I hope that someday an FF cine zoom from the standard range to the telephoto range will be released.

What Sigma should have done while trying to sort out the Foveon sensor, was to update their FP line: Fully articulated or flip up screens, optional EFV with a top plate connection, 10 bit 4.2.2 internally (with no silly 29:59 limit). Open Gate would be also nice. Lastly, make an autofocus system to play with the major boys.

It would be so cool if Sigma just revised the SD1 Merrill system improving its compact SLR mirror design while maintaining a strong DSLR position against the oncoming wave of mirrorless systems!

Been a Sigma FP users for 3 years now, updates the Sigma FP could do with 1. In Camera DCI 4K to SSD 2. RAW data information via HDMI to an external monitor, for us to be able to monitor Exposure in PQ mode on compatible monitors (eg. Atomos Shinobi) not just to the Ninja, Exposing correctly is a pain even with EL Zone and False Color as the screen representation of RAW is incorrect. 3. 48fps 4k CDNG (Even if it's 8bit it would be fine) 4. 3:2 full sensor readout in CDNG mode. 5. Start selling the HDMI Port rubber flap, it's been 2 years I've lost mine. Thanks

I think Sigma should divide the lineup. A camera for video and that for photo share similar technologies but also requires different priorities because they are working in different environment, with different people. Video model should be a box camera with better cooling and better tune for dynamic range, while Photo model should be a minimalistic camera, similar with what they've done. And they really need good AF features because lots of their lenses have that functionality. Think why other brand camera users with Sigma lenses does not transfer to Sigma.

I hope they bring the foveon in a much bigger camera than the FP. The Foveon in my Merrill Dp2 sucks the tiny battery empty in minutes. It needs a big battery and a tilt display and an ergonomic grip. Something like a LUMIX S5 body or better S1...

Love Sigma, the cameras have been not very good for a long time but the lenses are amazing for the money. I still have my Foveon DP1s so I'd love to see a modern Foveon sensor camera. One thing I would like is for Sigma to put weather sealing on the Contemporary lenses. The lack of this makes these lenses unusable for me as I often shoot in very wet and adverse conditions.

Not the best interview, I got the distinct impression he had a lot more to say about fp future, firmware in particular, your preoccupation with the other stuff diverted the discussion, too many specific questions, too much talk from the interviewer and not enough from the subject...
