Agreed. Natural surfaces help Halep with her underwhelming second service; on hardcourts she always struggles more. It's quite remarkable how successful she has been on hardcourts despite this.

What is the most impressive about Iga is how clutch she gets at most important points of the match. Whole 1st set was close and I'd say Halep was even a little bit better, but Iga played the most important points better and she ended up winning that set.

@@Kordass126 Agree. After winning RG, she did poorly in ths GS despite winning in Adelaide and Rome I think. She was playing not aggressive enough like she would not want to hurt her opponent or hurt herself. Now she is aggressive and she fights harder. Hope she keeps developing and confirms all the talent she showed.

Feel bad for my girl Halep but have to give it to Swiatek she was definitely rocking it out on the court.....Coming back from that first set tie break was the turning point and Halep's second serve stopped all her momentum so many times.

I think it s the sith now. LUGANO 2019 was her first one.

Wolałbym w odniesieniu do Igi użyć pojęcia, że jest w gronie najlepszych zawodniczek w tym czasie, w tourze. Co nie oznacza, że nie może być najlepsza, biorąc np. za wskaźnik bycie numerem 1 rankingu. Jest na dobrej ku temu drodze. Jest to trudne zadanie, ale jak to powiedział jej były trener, Sierzputowski, jeszcze trudniej utrzymać się na szczycie zestawienia. Ja bardzo lubię grę Igi, zwłaszcza kiedy w tym sezonie tak agresywnie poczyna sobie na korcie i nie traci pewności siebie, co uwidaczniało się w poprzednim sezonie jej dużymi wahaniami nastroju. Mecz z Sakkari będzie mega trudny, patrząc jak obecnie gra Greczynka i jak odprawiła Hiszpankę w półfinale. Ale wierzę, że trener przygotuje dobry plan na ten mecz. A reszta będzie w rękach Igi. Jazda, Iga, jazda!!!

After Barty’s retirement the competition was more open in the race in dominating the world number one rankings. Perhaps the advantage is now more towards Swiatek’s ribs.

They showed her stats from that QF against Sabalenka. Her average forehand speed was 5 km higher than average speed of the whole ATP Tour in 2021

I really hoped Halep would win, she has lovely game ,one minute she looks like she's struggling to retun the ball,next she now in offensive mode. Nonetheless Iga has just been on fire 🔥. Great match

I think the match would have gone the distance if Halep hadn't gotten injured. Swiatek played well on the most important points of the match, especially in the 1st set tiebreaker, but otherwise looked a bit flat, particularly on her serve.

She has a good role model in Rafa and so she's learning to never give up.

Her serve is finally improving, and that helps a lot on fast courts, though it can be far more better, specially the second serve.

I just watched Leyla Fernandez highlights and she seems pretty good too. Obviously I hope the best for Iga but she will have a couple of youngsters breathing down her neck. The future of WTA looks pretty bright at the moment

She’s ranked 19th now. She will get back into the Top 10, no doubt. Top 5, that’s less sure.
