Physics master's graduate here: The maths for the Higgs Boson existed for years before it was actually discovered. We knew what the mass was supposed to be and looked for a particle that matched. My guess is that they just used the papers that had already been written on it to make it accurate in the show. I've seen some other comments saying overwise but this was my first thought!

The Simpsons did actually kinda detect the Higgs boson particle. They made a formula that was the basis for the discovery. While this may seem amazing, it's not really. Most of the writers for the show were mathematicians and used the show to display their work. They even wrote a book about the Simpsons and the maths behind it!

the higgs particle was conceptualized and theorized by peter higgs back in the 60's , it was later then discovered by lhs(large hadron collider) , but the calculation was the one given by higgs in the 60's
