When sims 4 came out and I realized that it wasn't open world, I thought semi open world would be the next best thing. I don't mind meeting them in the middle and settling on semi open world as long as it works correctly and isnt half assed. There needs to be enough to do around the neighborhood and it needs to be sizeable, and for the love of plumbob I want tons of collectibles around so I can explore and collect!!!

I am cautiously looking forward to it... I've been playing the sims 2 again for the last couple of months, since high school years came out on sims 4. I just gave up ^^;

@@the_soulful_soul yes. In the sims 4 the animations are always the same no matter their traits, rendering it a bit pointless. You can have a perfectionist sim cook at lower levels and they drop stuff like crazy. Meanwhile you have a clumsy one at mid level doing knife acrobatics like a pro…

Yes! I hadn't played in forever I think since sims 1 when I was young and when I started playing sims 4 I noticed the difference in how they react to their environment. I remember when moving to a new house they would go in and look around each room and it would show whether they like it or not

this. i have gone back to the sims 3 rn cuz i just cannot catch a break when it comes to bugs and mods breaking in the sims 4. it runs poorly due to it's constantly game breaking bugs that just cause a shitton of lagg. like at least my sims 3 can run smoothly with the patch update and a few minor mods. but every time i manage to get 4 to work smoothly a new update breaks everything again. so yeah it's safe to say i cannot be bothered

@@litchtheshinigami8936 because The Sims 4 is totally fully spaghetti code and poorly stable compared to The Sims 2 and 3, even 3 is poorly optimized but it doesn't have more critical game-breaking bugs aside from Island Paradise bug and the routing issues.

Honestly, I'm not a massive fan of the whole facial emotions thing. Sure it'd simplify it, but I find expressions extremely to read, and they'd probably have to be really exaggerated to be easily understandable, particularly if you're switching around a lot in a larger household.

this. like in the sims 4 it just feels shallow. even simple interactions need to be brought back like how in the sims 2 children could plauy cops and robbers and in both sims 2 and sims 3 they could play tag. do homework together where as in the sims 4 none of that is a thing. the only close thing would be to "play make believe" but even then that's just a vocal interaction where i would have preferred it if they would actually run around and genuinely play. like idk have child spellcasters pick up a branch and act like they are casting magic (when they aren't) or have Alien children act like they are human and laugh about it by doing "human imitations" similar to the imitate mermaids interaction but more fleshed out and charming.

If they do this, they need to have an emotions UI that you can toggle on and off. Some people, especially with certain kinds of neurodivergence, find expression difficult to read. Changing emotions to only facial features would make a huge aspect of gameplay stressful and inaccessible to a number of players.

I would rather control my sims entirely and let traits make my sims unique than let emotions hiccup my game play. I used to think they(emotions) were really cool, but I went back to the sims 3 and moodlets get the message across and can make social things challenging without making the game play needlessly confusing, clunky, superficial, and isolated. People don't feel intense emotion like the sims in sims 4, let it play out in the moodlets and we can organize their behavior as a player. Emotions also like previously said, makes playing a bigger family so much harder bc it's too detailed/microcosm or a thing for a player to really focus on for a whole family of 6 or 8 even. It's so disappointing to see something you love go backwards like this

Ikr- AND we should have things like cottages, actually going to the work place of ur sim, dining out and a high school without having to pay about £30 or something for basic necessities for good and entertaining gameplay 😢 List of things we need in base game (not including what I've already said): University Maybe pets Strangerville (it's an og c'mon) Skiing LAUNDRY Better hot tubs Different ACTUALLY GOOD clothes that we don't need to buy a pack or kit for Hairs that don't look like they've crawled out of hell Build items that aren't hellish and (if ur not necessarily a 'pro builder' like me) are easy to think of a nice place to put MUGS OR COFFEE CUPS THAT I DONT NEED TO GO TO DEBUG FORRRR camping SEASONSSSSS movie night Vacuum thingy That weird undies kit Kitchen thing AND MANY MORE 👹

Well they may have motivation to go harder for 5 thanks to paralives and the other life sim.

I know 2 reasons they would try harder, Life By You and Paralives, oh and there's actually another life simulation game, but I can't remember the name, I saw the ad for it and it's also new.

This time if simmers don't pressure ea to release the game ea might make a good sims 5 game :)

Completely agree, it’s like with Minecraft: looks bad naturally but whack shaders on it and it can be the most beautiful blocky game. Lighting changes everything.

@@crystalmeth1650 Do you think so? I don't. My shy bookworm never shows up at the library, but always dancing in bars when I play a different family. They flip so much from emotion to emotion. Maybe I expect more because of experience with past Sims games, but IMO Sims 4 really missed the mark with how they handle emotions and personalities.

I'd be fine with this if the logistics of the deeper emotions weren't so whack. Like, my one sim automated a flirt with another sim, then felt deep remorse for DAYS because she "cheated" on her husband. And then she told him (even though it's really not a big deal) and they were both sad for a week straight. And then after they were done being sad about it, she felt guilty about it again and had to admit it again and then they were sad again! Ugh.

@@songsayswhat I think the issue you mentioned in your 2nd comment is different from the original comment. The emotion system in TS4 works exactly like you mentioned, but it’s flawed, because way too many moodlets have been added to the point that it makes the whole thing meaningless. If you have a sim whose spouse died, the sad moodlet will be buried under a million happy moodlets from like, having their needs bar full, being in a nice environment, having fresh laundry, etc. Like who cares about my husband when my clothes are smelling nice. The second comment is more about another issue, which is the fact that TS4 has absolutely no continuity and personalities don’t matter. When you’re playing one household, all the other ones become shells, like literal NPCs. They have traits that are useless but that’s it, no memory, no smart coding involved. It’s just a flawed and empty game from the start

@@isadora7286 You're right. I did slip in my original problem with the game. I freely admit I am not a Sims 4 fan. I don't know what they can do to better balance the emotions and moods, but they need serious work. I'd rather my sims bawled their eyes out for days the way they did back in Sims 2 than get whiplash from all the changing emotions. I don't hold out much hope for Sims 5. I think they could be best served by really examining the earlier games and figuring out why they worked, but what do I know? I want a fun game, not billions of dollars. (Though I'll take that $1Billion of anyone's offering!)

I dont care about ts5 because its TOO far out. This is like sitting in on your favorite series talking about the writing process filming process but the movie isny coming out until 5 years from now. Theres no guarantee well be alive in 5 years. The sun could go super nova tomorrow and none of this matters. I only care when its in the foreseeable future.

Like in tS3 when we could put new lots wherever we wanted in the whole game world. I use to put some random plots near waterfalls. No roads to get there, my sims had to walk through some jungles and it was A-MA-ZING!!!

Yeah I’m not super confident they seem to be starting in the same way focusing on aesthetics and emotions, not actual interesting gameplay or depth of a character

@@kaylaslovely_ exactly what I got from it too. No gameplay or depth at all, no sims zaniness, just all about aesthetics - even the emotions was about cleaning up the look of the sims icons. Very shallow - very little vision of what they're going to achieve other than pretty.

I agreed. I'm sure it will be different team who is working on it but hopefully TS4 team would not join them after TS4 game is finished.

Exactly. When TS4 was announced they said exactly the same thing: that they would focus on Sims being smarter and having better emotions, yet it was the most lackluster and boring game of the franchise. I really hope they do something different this time.

Yes I love all of the little moodlets! I know TS4 had them, and I’m surprised no one pointed it out. But I cannot stand how annoying they are in TS4. A sim will be extremely sad because their relative died but oh wow this place is nicely decorated! It’s so broken in TS4

The two-stage mood meter and its mechanics were the pinnacle for me.

The grunge kit was… definitely really bad. It was just werewolves CAS but not ripped. The goth kit will finally give actually dark core and… goth stuff I think, but I don't think they should do it again. :|

Honestly I’m just tired of paying for every little thing separately 🙄 this is the first sims game where I gave up on “collecting them all” because it was way too expensive. Why not grunge AND goth, 90s style? And “decades” as it’s own pack? Seriously, EA is doing the least and charging so much for it.

​@@OpalLeigh Sims players have become desensitised to having to pay for every single update in the game, this may be a bad example but look at minecraft, the base game cost money and yes there are things you can buy but 90% of the actual content in the game is the things that actually come with the game, you're not forced to spend over £600 just to get a semi-functional game, they update the game regularly with things that actually add stuff to the game and not fill it with bugs

Sims 4 happened because people pressured ea to release it sooner than the actual date that why sims 4 is empty it was supposed to be a multiplayer sims game

EA is doing a great job. The Sims 5 is going to be EPIC, once it releases. It's in the early development stage, so it will take at least 5 to 10 years for it to release. I am so excited for it!

Real talk. The other day I had a sim sad about a breakup, but the sad moodlet was overshadowed by joy bc she was a foodie and ate food recently.

i think it's best if they take their time on the sims 5 instead of just rushing into things right now. then just have the sims 4 team continue focussing on improving what is already there as a layover. (seeing as you cannot tell me they don't still profit off of sims 4 heck even sims 3 should still hold a profit) so yeah i agree. take it slow it'll make for a better experience
