I can imagine how tragic their parents backstory could’ve been…even though interracial marriage and relationships have been legal since 1968 (check out the case of Richard and Mildred Loving for the backstory) some members of society still frowned upon folks dating outside their own race and like he said he wasn’t married to their birth mother and he had no real way to prove paternity other than his word so that’s probably why he was never able to find them and was also denied access to their adoption records plus since the mother died of childbirth complications he couldn’t ask her why she didn’t tell him about her pregnancy cause I would like to think that if he knew about the girls before they were born not only would he have been on the first flight back to Florida he probably would’ve married her before he left but with her dead they probably will never get a definitive answer

Only to find out his father still wasn’t ready to truly be around for him. Tia & Tamera had their birth father who readily admits the very unfortunate circumstances that led to his not raising them, but had always been looking to find his girls. Sure, he’s a perfect stranger to these two grown women today. Still, their birth and adoption wasn’t a case of their parents abandoning / walking out. I’m glad they both accept him into their adult lives for the final season.

What’s so interesting in this scene is that in Twitches (spoilers spoilers spoilers ahead), Cameryn (also played by Tamera) has a hard time accepting her birth place and mother because she already has parents back home. Coincidentally she hugged her adoptive father like she did in this episode after this scene.

And what's wrong with Tia's character?
@noelstar14562 роки тому
@@seanreyes6866 I thought they were making her out to be bratty, selfish, and the butt of every joke. I didn’t like how Tamara seemed to look down on her. I think most of it was me projecting. I’m the younger sister in a two sister pair (not twins, but a year apart). I’m the smarter one, and I used to be a bitch to my older sister (granted, different set of circumstances. She was also a problem child, and I think that’s important to acknowledge). I used to make fun of her for commenting on things she knew little/nothing about. I was a kid at the time, but still, watching the (I think) second last or last season reminded me too much of it (my sister and I are much better now though) so I bailed.

i kind of found my family like this. me and my brothers were all adopted out to different people. but each of us were given a part of a coin cut like a puzzle piece. and one day each of us got a letter and a ticket to twins Arizona for the twins convention. i found one of my sisters because she had part of a coin as well. we talked for a while and walked around and we found her sister talking to 2 other girls my other sisters. we are all sitting at a table talking and we litterly see my brothers walking around looking for me i guess because they had there coins out. i yelled and got there attention and we all finally met.

A lot of adoptees feel that way, by the time they grow up they longer have any interest in meeting their biological parents. I am adopted myself. The only family I know is the ones that was there when I was younger. Now IF my biological mother comes into the picture, fine. However, I've grown well into adulthood to start acknowledging a stranger as my mother. However, that does not mean there isn't room enough for the both of them.
@themelanatednomad69892 роки тому
I kind of think Tamera’s behavior was kind of ridiculous. You can have multiple father figures/mother figures in your life. Acknowledging your biological parent doesn’t take away from the person who raised you vise versa. She feels like she needs to be loyal, but that’s unnecessary.
@WaffleAssasinX32 роки тому
@@themelanatednomad6989 but you do realize that's something really significant to come to terms with. Everyone is different, you can't expect anyone to just accept it. It's not ridiculous.
@themelanatednomad69892 роки тому
@@WaffleAssasinX3 Yes, it’s significant and yes you’re right everyone is different but the reality is you are adopted. Your relationships are going to be understandably different from someone who isn’t. Tamera was fine with finding her mother, but never thought of her biological father? She then proceeded to argue with him as if her adoptive father’s position in her life was being threatened. C’mon.
@IDCThrowAway2 роки тому
@@WaffleAssasinX3 I think her reaction was extra because if we go by the lines she said to him it seems as if he was some dead beat trying to renter their lives when it was through no fault of his own that he wasn’t with them so throwing out “he’s the only father I need” is misplaced considering the situation ya know
@MGMVE2 роки тому
@@themelanatednomad6989 What Tamera doesn't realize there is room for both of them one is not taking over for the other. The biological dad has missed out on seeing them grow up. He tries to catch up on what he missed. Ray is not being replaced, he'll never be replaced. Mr. Sullivan isn't taking over, he just wants to catch up on what he missed.

He literally just said he didn't know their mother was pregnant and when he did find out he tried to find them and then as if she was deaf, "sorry I already have a dad, that was there for me" ugh. but I also do understand that it was probably quite a shock to her, some random guy saying that he's her father with no proof or anything on top of that also finding out what their mother looked like finally.
