For 75 years hindus have sacrificed for the appeasement of Muslims who are 200 million which should be called a second majors rather than minority. Christians, sikhs, Buddhists, jains, parsis are true minorities in India and not muslims. Only muslims have problem with laws in India. We dont follow sharia law in India. Its time all personal religious laws are removed and uniform civil code is implemented where every religions follow same set of laws for marriage, divorce, inheritance and adoption.

Mahatma Gandhi said we must balance "Rights" in the Western sense with "Duties". That notion of Duty is deeply ingrained in our civilisation, duty to our parents and elders, duty to our teachers, duty to broader society, duty to mother nature and so on. This is not some old-fashioned thinking that will disappear with "modernity". It is a deeply relevant perspective the West can usefully learn from.
