I feel like I’d lose the detachable camera in a week.

It’s not that smartphones are boring now, it’s law of diminishing returns. We’ve become used to all the basic features that used to amaze us. An amazing camera, high processing power, smooth UI, great display, etc are all taken for granted so any further improvements will seem small as the basic use of a smartphone has reached its limit.

I think these all come with a drawback though, after all that resource, I had never heard of a company that prioritizes the screen and its endurance. The more a screen is being lit up to get that color. There has to be a drawback. Because my phone literally has burns along its bazels.

Kudos to Samsung for trying with the foldable phone though - eventually they did a pretty good job with it (maybe the camera wasn't the best,) but it was the screen size & convenience many ppl were looking for -& they invested a lot in it - r&d at Samsung is huge, & goes in various directions - & then other companies copy/amend their ideas🙏💜

For the invisible front camera thing, Xiaomi has already fixed it but didn't continue it in further phones. The Xiaomi 9t pro has a retractable selfie camera

thanks for the info. just nitpicking - the battery won't give off less heat as it still just a lithium battery, but as the electric connection material has a higher thermal conductibility it will irradiate the heat faster

As an artist I’m really exited for this. Because I don’t have the money to buy a tablet I can put that money I would normally put into my smartphone .. well into my smartphone and my tablet. I don’t have to have both, if I end up not liking digital art I still have a use out of it since it can be my day to day phone and it doesn’t look weird, it looks like a normal sized (ratio) phone. Maybe that’s just my very specific case but it’s like it was created specifically for my situation and I’m so so exited to be able to buy one of those and be able to have a phone and a digital art tablet without loosing money, accessibility, use etc Can’t wait.

The designs are usually different but I'm confident in saying that what the phone can do from a OS perspective isn't all that different from most OS's.. while design is important to me it always comes down to Camera quality & what this phone can do that others can't do like fold/flip or popping up the camera ect.. hell even most cameras in smartphones do relatively the same stuff it's just a matter of which one has the better quality.. so while there are many different designed phones (definitely not as much as before imo) there's not enough differences in other things such as the camera, OS, Screen ect

You were saying about that camera you pop off the phone and record a view from the phone camera at same time as the pop off one... That kind of reminds me of something on my old Galaxy S4 phone, that I could record from the back camera and have a small box in the recording of the front camera recording myself separately in the same shot. I love that feature on my phone! But that removable, still functioning camera is a little better in that you can aim it where ever instead of just fixed at one spot on the phone.

It’s true especially for some game apps on Apple. Nowadays I see almost ‘half’ of the number of game apps requiring in-app purchases and/or multiplayer modes, including the internet which may be required in some apps. This annoys me a lot especially when cases get onto using the internet while playing a multiplayer game and having almost no offline gaming.

The thing I would like to see with the invisible front camera is it being in the centre of the phone , it seems a more intuitive place , especially with FaceTiming , then it will naturally be like your making eye contact with the caller , and selfie’s without people looking at them self instead of the camera 🤷‍♂️

For me personally I've been coming up against the problem where I see a cool phone I want and can afford but my cellphone carrier hasn't approved licensing for it so the phone might not work with my network. I understand that if people had easier access to phones like the Red Magic 6 then Samsung wouldn't sell as well so that's probably why.

I think the problem with smartphones being boring nowadays is the shape,aside of the folding and the rolling one. Compared to how much variety you used to get now it's all slabs although many of the fun experimental shapes that phones used to have probably wouldnt work with touchscreens

one thing i hate about 90% of the newer smart phones is that there r no earphone jacks anymore, so if u have wired earphones they become almost useless for ur new phone and instead u have to go and buy bt earphone which r not cheap

I agree on most parts but I am deadly afraid of mobile gaming taking over. No matter what, a mobile phone gaming experience will never reach the levels it can on PC or console, and more than likely will focus on being something to keep the players engaged through cheap dopamine and their wallets empty. Essentially, a soulless cashgrab with mass appeal that will take away the incentive for developers to keep developing proper games for proper gaming platforms

theoretically could we not just weaken phones and then strengthen their antenas for the most seemless remote play? like you wouldnt need years spent on new chipsets when we have the tech on other platforms. if you basically turn them into very basic functions of only processing and streaming, we could have rooms full of consoles or pc like systems which have more space for processing instead of stuff like disc drives etc.
