In this video I showcase how I store SMD/SMT components in a space-efficient way without breaking the bank.

my issue is that for components that need specs (say capacitors if they're x5r etc and their voltage rating) the data doesn't fit on their label.

Yes, the usable area for a label is limited. I have a labelmaker that can fit 2 rows but with the smallest font I still need to be creative with the text to fit all info

Very neat! I suppose ESD concerns are most evident when things are moving correct? Maybe it's OK.

The concern is about the containers for the dicrete semicondutors and ICs... The container may be charged and that is OK as long as nothing with a different voltage potential comes in contact with the components. My workbench is ESD safe and all my tools that come in contact with the components are ESD safe too. But I would feel a little bit more safe is I had ESD containers for the semiconductors. I have tried to print containers using ESD PETG, but sofar I haven't been successful in getting a good quality print. I have wasted 2/3 of a 100 USD spool of filament in my experiments 😕

Honestly, I'd much rather have them in the reel / cut up strips because they're less likely to get jumbled up

Everyone have their own favorite method to organize stuff 😎 I needed something more compact than large binders with components, so I went for small storage containers. It suits my workspace better because I have a very small space with very little storage space.

@@MeeBiltI need to find someone with a 3d printer... I totally need some of those I prefer to keep the components on the strip. If those boxes opened by mistakes that could be a genuine mess

@@Manche-De-Pelle They are quite safe actually - but I never turn them upside dow, just to be on the safe side 😄

@@MeeBilt I understand ... I got another question, do you know how much the box cost you, approximately ? That will help me to have a range of price ... maybe i'll buy my own 3D printer if it's really cheap to print those box compare to use a company to print those or buying commercial solution. I saw a guy buying storage for diamond painting for his electronic component. Those are really cheap but can be broken easily during transportation and those aren't really secure if you flip the storage. I would totally compare the price of those with your project. thanks again

@@Manche-De-Pelle I printed mine with PLA filament and I guess that the cost was something like 2 USD worth of material for each tray.
