ABOUT
It's no secret that The Sims 4 feels significantly different from its predecessors, but why is that? To continue this investigation, I detail the structural gameplay differences between The Sims 4 and its predecessors and analyze how well the game holds up to Will Wright’s initial example.

If you stayed to the very end, you a real one. There’s a couple things I didn’t go into detail in this video for brevity’s sake (lol...50 minute video), but I still feel like are important to mention: *1. THE SIMS 4 = WHITE MIDDLE CLASS AMERICAN MILLENNIAL SIMULATOR* Although there have been attempts to be more diverse, the majority of the content in The Sims 4, whether with just the base game or with all the packs, is curated towards a White American millennial middle class experience. Now, the white, American middle class part has been a reality throughout the entirety of the franchise, not just with Sims 4, but the lack of attention towards other life stages, aside from young adults, is another major difference between TS4 and its predecessors. The teen-elder life stages are essentially the same with a couple minor aesthetic differences. *2. EA SHUT DOWN MAXIS IN 2015* Electronic Arts, which most refer to as “EA,” shut down Maxis in 2015. Maxis is the company Will Wright originally created to develop his simulation games. Obviously, this did not affect the continual development of The Sims series, but there are SPECULATIONS (not facts) about whether or not this has had an impact on what we’re seeing in The Sims 4. I don’t know specific details of this shutdown. I’m sure not all of them can be disclosed, but certain games that have been published under Electronic Arts, whether that’s The Sims, Spore, Madden, or otherwise, have had reputations of drastic shifts in game direction, so this could be a potential factor, but also may not be a factor at all. Thank you SO MUCH for watching! My next video is about the social construct of a “real gamer” and how that marginalizes women, minorities, and other groups in our society (finally posting that video lol), so stay tuned for that! 👀

Fantastic series, new subscriber, love your documentaries on the Sims! Sims 4 = American Simulator . This should have been re-considered from the Sims 3, as the audience has grown globally. I am not American and struggle to relate to most of the Sims CAS, Build and worlds. Plumbella, James Turner etc are famous gamechangers who have also spoken about their discomfort at not having a relatable game experience due to it being continuingly American centered. I hope from the pack releases such as Snowy Escape or the free update which included Hispanic Heritage items this is something they will change in the Sims 5. The inclusion of POC and other genders are also a whole other situation which they have started to address and acknowledge, evident from the skin tone update, including more POC hairs and culture within game and adding more gender options (but still not enough). Again, in-excusable and simply lazy to have not been included from the start. Hoping this mistake will be corrected in the sims 5.

The shutting down of Maxis had also a lot to do with the failure of SimCity. They still sometimes call the team at Redwood Studios the "Maxis" team but the real deal is the actual company is shut down and everything is now run by EA.

I am a white, middle class millennial and I just watched both of these videos. Lol. You did a great job researching and organizing and presenting this content. The Sims 2 was a great game but it is difficult for me to go from the easy build features and the multitasking system of the Sims 4 back to the Sims 2. As for The Sims 3, it had some great features but I dont care for the rabbit holes and the empty lots (no visitors) and the constant crashing. However, your analysis of the lack of personality in the Sims 4 is on point and appreciated. I also hate that they've provided no space for a personality bio and I hate that they have quit on whims. I feel cheated by that.

I don't agree that the sims 4 is a white American millennial simulation because you can apply any race to the base game because its so blank. The fact that there's no huge indication of one specific race, you can enjoy the game with any race you want. The only barrier is hair textures and representation for Native Americans. There really is no way to live "a certain race" unless you wanted to get really cultured and they have packs for that. I think messing with race is not good in this context because it can easily offend somebody. TL;DR? If you want to make a normal black family, you can do that. If you want to make an asian family that struggles, you can do that. If you want to make a family that's mixed race of Hispanic and Indian, you can do that. What makes a black family black or a white family white? Memories maybe. But you can create memories. Cook outs, wedding, first day of school etc. Don't get me wrong. Sims 4 base game is trash, and hopefully one day we will have a hair career and I can have my teen sim practice braiding on her sister and things like that, but... I don't think that because those type of things aren't in the game rn that the game is "white".

@@anononnymouse2795 I think what Asmara means, similar to what another person replied, the game is very American and suburban (which in real life consists of mostly white people). City-life, low-income, even rural environments are not explored much in TS4 and can make for a very monotonous gameplay since every single family you make will essentially have the same lifestyle. In general, it's not very diverse in terms of race, class, culture, etc.

I remember how good we had it in the Sims 3. Like if my sim went off to Uni, they'd still get calls from family/friends at home. Or if someone moved out, they'd still come around to hang, call, and do other things that maintain their relationship. But in Sims 4 it's either, they knock on the door everyday for no reason, or you don't hear from them again. There's no balance.

I redownloaded sims 3 and got a supernatural pack for it and already More fun than sims4 even with all the custom content I have on sims4. I loved creating my characters with actual life aspirations they had to work over time for and not just one day. And giving them actual personality and watching how things affected them and didn’t just go away after two minutes due to a painting or something. I think my favorite part is exploring the catacombs I think it’s called and the sims actually coming out dirty and with actual finds and memories and new fears. It added so much more mystery and story to the life of my sims. Honestly the sims 4 just doesn’t have that sense of life and even with mods the mods seem to over do it at times to an unbearable point like the time is all just rushed no actual space and having your sims live life. I hope the sims 4 is fixed or as they work on the sims5 since I heard that’s been confirmed they truly make it better than the sims4 and bring back everything that made it so amazing. Not to mention sims4 additional packs to buy are extremely expensive and cheap cash grabs. That needs to change too

Toys are supposed to be fun to play with on their own as you only need your imagination. A video game has rules, it can have a story, and generally it has victory conditions. You play a video game not just to be entertained but to be challenged, to improve your motor skills and eyesight (there's research about this in "Nature Neuroscience"), to get a sense of accomplishment when defeating an opponent, to learn (edutainment, historical games, etc), to improve your critical thinking skills (strategy games, RPGs), etc. I wouldn't say one is better than the other. I remember in sims 2 whenever you tried to do something that would be weird for that sim's personality, they'd look at you, they'd look through the screen at you and I thought it was pretty funny. Because yeah, people do sometimes do things they wouldn't do normally, because they are told to, forced to, persuaded to or suggested to and they really don't want to do it. It was also good that these 'weird for their personality' actions would often go badly or would be done awkwardly, nervously. However, in the sims 4 I can get a lazy sim to exercise and they are all smiles. I can get a loner sim to interact with strangers and yes I'll get a moodlet saying they're uncomfortable but there isn't any unique interactions or animations for this situation. I want to do things that are strange for that sim sometimes but I want to feel that resistance and eventually the regret that I would in sims 2. Also! I was one of the lucky people who managed to get it for free (they only did it for one weekend) and I've only ever bought packs on sale so I probably am very lucky that I have one of the cheapest versions of the game and I still felt let down by the base game and I got it for free XD

I play almost exclusively characters that I made. In theory this game should be ideal for me. But I actually want those pre-existing relationships and a solid story progression because I don't want my characters to live in a vacuum. This is even more the case since I can't make custom worlds and therefore don't have that full control and customization that I had in previous games. Before, I could make a town from the ground up and leave most of my self-created support cast to their own devices. Since I no longer have that freedom, it's important that the world I do have to play in be filled with compelling characters. Even for a hard-core originals only storyteller, a good setting and story progression are important.

You only touched briefly on it, but I want to say that... my goodness, I feel sorry for anyone working on Paralives. The pressure must be *insane*. They are the first ones to seriously challenge the Sims 4 in 'their domain' lately. Sure, Second Life exists, but it's an online game and thus isn't really a direct competitor to the Sims Franchise. (Though that might change if Sims 5 actually is online - which I hope it won't be.) Paralives actively markets itself as an offline life simulator - or to say it in other words, a direct competitor to the Sims Franchise. Many Simmers, prominent or not, have cited EA's lack of competition for the Sims as a reason as for why it has been getting worse (as you did note, towards the end), so many Simmers are looking to Paralives to be that, to be worthy competition, to be something that will force EA to do better, to listen to their customers complaints and do something. All eyes are on Paralives. Plus, they have promised a lot, specifically things that the Sims 4 doesn't offer (as of yet, might I note). Expectations and hopes are high. Maybe even too high. Because what happens if Paralives fails? What if it doesn't fulfill its promises, what if it doesn't meet expectations? What if it's just... mediocre? Boring? Fun for a family generation, but not more? Will another company or other indie developers step up and try to challenge EA again? Especially if Paralives fails spectacularly? (Knock on wood, though, that it doesn't.) Maybe. Maybe not. It would be risky, and not many companies/indie developers are willing to take such a risk. I only wish the best to the people working on it, and that they'll succeed. For our and especially for their sake.

One interesting thing about the social media discussions with the developers (like the Discord server) is that supporters are reluctant to mention The Sims by name. People suggest certain features, but they try to phrase it without specifically saying "I'd like an improvement on this feature in The Sims". I once even saw it called "the game that shall not be named", which the developers assured them they don't really need to do. It's okay to compare Paralives to The Sims. After all, it's the closest to their intended model. But there is an attempt to discuss features that worked without using the exact language of The Sims. Another thing is that the developers are being upfront that they won't have everything they're discussing on release. They're taking polls and having discussions of what they'd ideally want, but recognize that they have to be realistic with their expectations for development. Like they've discussed with the community what it would take to include wheelchairs in the game and how to design around them, but have admitted they don't currently have ramps figured out as a build tool yet. I don't think that's necessarily going to save them from initial backlash. Parts of Spore is well received now, but when it came out it was panned as a series of shallow disconnected games instead of a single robust simulator. But I think Paralives is realistically managing their own expectations and trying not to bite off more than they can chew.
@ember9361

Why are people so worried about a competitor for a major simulation game? That has happened before. City Skylines provided what SimCity 2013 could not. The way developers for Paralives are dealing with the game is not hyped up at all- they're showing what they have. There's no big promises made with catchy phrases - all their videos on their channel showcase what they last worked on and they're quite open about possibilities, suggestions and feedback from the community- they even do surveys regarding certain aspects. Just because they're a small indie team doesn't mean they're incapable of creating something fun, like StardewValley was developed by one guy...

@@ember9361 People are worried about a competitior because of what one can accomplish. There has not been a SimCity release since Cities: Skyline came out. SimCity is either taking their time on the next product to make sure they get it right or the smaller competitor effectively killed it. The fact that Paralives is so transparent with their production gives fans of the Sims who want a better product hope that the competitor isn't a hoax. There's been a ton of life-sim hoaxes or efforts that promised a lot and fell flat, and people are really hoping to see another Cities: Skyline.

@@BonaparteBardithion But there won't be a next SimCity... EA doesn't seem to think single player games are as profitable as multiplayers, so 2013 was the last one since it didn't do too good, and City Skylines kind of just swooped in and sealed the deal by gaining over all the frustrated SC fans. What I mean is, it literally happened to one of the biggest franchises in the simulation genre, why worry it couldn't happen again? They tried an online sims 4 (Olympus) but retracted just in time because of how the whole SimCity thing went down, and they're trying again with Sims 5 (same dev team + career openings for developers with cross platform & online experience) so they're kinda recreating the very same environment that killed off SimCity

The Paralives subreddit is filled with gameplay wishes by the simming community - and the Paralives team is asking for it! No matter how complicated or unrealistic, they want all the input, but they're very open about being a small team with limited resources. You need a certain level of suspension of disbelief to play a life simulator, and sims 4 makes it harder with such easily changeable sims: from sims that can turn from grieving to happy due to a painting, to seeing townies taken on random catering roles, to having townies do uncharacterful things, such as Judith Ward digging through trash, the Goths being scared of ghosts, random kids on their own in an onsen at midnight, to just random sims constantly strolling through the neighbourhoods, to pregnant sims in hospital (Get to Work) having no real babies. This made storytelling harder, too. It didn’t feel like I had full control of my own sims or the world they’re in, just the opposite. Thanks for the wonderful analysis, too.

I think a problem with the sims 4 is that yes you’re able to give sims a “personality” by micromanaging and doing everything for them but the game doesn’t really give you the tools to do this. I can’t tell my sim how to act in response to something, and the game would become boring if I paused every second to think about how someone else would respond. Even if you saw the sims 4 as the ultimate god simulator it’s really not because no god controls you like a robot, a god manipulates you’re surroundings and watches you respond. Ps it’s hard to micromanage my sims actions when they feel tense every 5 seconds or they get stuck in those annoying group conversations that always happen when you go to a community lot, not that community lots are that great because all the sims spawning at the front of the lot at the same time. wanna go order something in at the cafe? !no! you have to wait for the barista to show up, fight past the crowd of sims all group thinking their way into the front door for you sim to then get mobbed into group conversations while they’re trying to flirt with their date. now my sim has a bunch of awkward relationships because they just flirted with half the town. See even if I wanted full control I don’t really have it. Not to mention how empty the world feels, I can’t control the whole world so sims need to have their own personalities. Little missing features don’t help with this emptiness, for example loading screens to go anywhere, disappearing and reappearing at the front of the lot rather than actually appearing to travel ect

i dont think loading screen are the problem in itself. If they had done a world like in the sims 2 where you can naviguate through it and edit it, with some aspects of the personality of that game it would have been much better. Sims 3 had traits, but traits doesnt really matter on a sims personality, its at best a characteristic of your sims. Like being kleptomaniac or dog lover. Personality points, interest points, turn on/off, aspirations etc from the sims 2 are actual working all together to offer a true personality through gameplay. Also, those things drove all of your sims motives and how they respond/interacted with other sims. Little has it may seems, interest points were not just a show case of your sims interest, it drove what your sims would talk of and also gow they reacted to someone with differents interest. Lets says Lindsay didnt have any interest in voyages but I did have a lot of point of interest for voyages, than the outcomes of that conversation would be negative. So whenever sims would have similar points of interest they had it easier to bond, and if they didnt they had a harder time to develop that relationship... Also in the sims 2, unlike other games, the animations are there to show you whats happening to your sims, instead in recent game they are express through buffs... yes buffs. They arent bad since they clearly an outcomes through gameplay, but there is not much else to it.

Some stuff that needed more elaboration: - You can burn through the content of a Sims 4 dlc within a day or less. They're so one note you find no reason to revisit some dlc. They add more shallow gameplay features but no depth to actual gameplay. - Late game is so lackluster. You can easily make your household millionaires and have nothing to do with your money. You can so easily build max friendly and romantic relationship with everyone in town, max your career, get all reward traits, complete all aspirations, etc. - You realizing that most new Sims 4 content is just catching up with previous titles at a higher price and with less content. Yet after many years, so many features are still missing. Again lack of depth. - The game is still a speed up, slow down simulator! Building up skills, relationships , careers, etc is just doing something in x3 speed, interspersed with daily subsistence. - The fact the Sims team can't optimize their game for CAS, story progression, and open world. They brainwashed so much of the sims community into thinking that readding those features would burn down our computers when so many other games simulate so much more and are still well optimized. And they aren't even using Unity! So simulation limitations can be bypassed so much easier with their own engine.

Also emotions should be triggered all the time, since you get used to things and don't react as strongly as you would in the beginning after a certain time.

in my opinion, the sims 4 was destined to fail when they tried making their core aspect emotions because it’s not like that hasnt already been done before? in ts2, your sim’s mood played a big part in their everyday life. it affected their aspiration as well as their intuitive to do things around the house (ex. an upset sim won’t do chores or anything that isn’t fun) and they expanded upon this tremendously in the sims 3 by adding actual traits & more lifetime aspirations BASED on those traits. not to mention, moodlets! with this bein said, it makes no damn sense why sims 4 went in this marketing direction 😐 edit: after i unpaused the vid, you literally just said all this ugh YOUR MIND!!

When TS4 came out I was so disappointed that I actually requested a return and refund for it. I was able to "return" my digital copy and get a refund for it. Like it was SO bad when it was realized. And I was so invested in TS3 because I had a decent amount of expansions that I paid for. I think I played TS3 for a couple years until I started to see some more TS4 content online and figured it would be time to make the switch. I played "vanilla" for a while but then for the first time I started to use CC and mods. Now I can't play without it because the game just feels so hollow without it. I don't want to even think about how much money I've spent on DLC in TS4 now. CAS and build mode is definately the best it has been (given I was initally upset about no create a wheel) but the actually game play itself is so disapointing. MC Command Center has saved the sims tbh.

I've been saying the Sims 4 wasn't ish from the beginning, but everybody just now seem to be realizing it. The game was hollow from the beginning and missing so many basics from jump. CAST, toddlers, open world, pools, toddlers, ghosts, NPC burglars, firemen, nanny's, etc., cars. I don't think they even had ghosts. That had to be patched in. Soooo much was missing out the gate. I found the base game boring and not as interesting or addictive as previous Sims games. According to Origin, I've played TS4 a whole 68 hours in 6 years. Until a few nights ago, I'd last played it in 2018. I may have played 15 or 20 minutes the other night. I still don't know how to change the camera angles or follow my sim. That's how little I play this game. I used to play TS2 & TS3 nonstop, like a borderline addiction. Maybe it's because I'm older now, idk, but I can't get into this version of the Sims. I only own 9 total packs and that's because I buy one of each in a bundle for a discount on Origin. So an EP+GP+SP= whatever % off. IMO game packs are a good idea in theory, but are actually just a money grab. Game packs weren't a thing in Sims 2 or 3. It's a stuff pack that includes game play elements and in some cases a world, and on the surface, it sounds like a good idea, but you still have stuff packs, so they just break up EPs into various GPs and SPs to make more money rather than creating a complete EP. It's a hustle. EA has been hustling yall for years. The Sims 3 store was expensive, but it was optional add-ons, not like "Oh, I need this, this and this to make my own Generations or Dating Life EP." As flawed as the Sims 3 was, imo it was a more complete game, and so was the Sims 2.

I really just wish my sims would die. Or at least their house would catch on fire. Like that does not happen in TS4. My experience playing TS3 and TS4 is so different. When I'd get tired with TS3, I would make it to the weekend or at least finish off the day and save & quit after putting everyone to sleep. But with TS4 I've found that I get so mind numbingly bored that I can't even finish off a quick evening. I'll open and close the game within 20 minutes and feel so mentally drained where I can't do anything but take a nap. The game quite literally puts me to sleep (not in a good way).

As someone who prefers having as much control as possible, I _still_ prefer The Sims 3. I feel like the open and customizable world makes it much easier to play god than what's available in The Sims 4. I played Sims 3 for years with only the base game and never got bored. If I wanted to do something that wasn't technically available in the game, I'd just build some set dressing somewhere and create that functionality on my own. Hell, I had more fun jerry rigging Sunset Valley to fit my narrative than I ever did using the actual expansion packs for Sims 3, once I was finally able to install them. Sims 4 just doesn't have the same flexibility, so I find that I'm actually not able to tell open ended stories. I feel like there is very little opportunity to color outside the lines, as it were. Having easily manipulatable (but bland as hell) characters doesn't really help me much. If anything, it stiffles any attempt to add conflict to the narrative. (Though maybe the new update fixes that -- honestly I haven't even thought about playing Sims 4 since the 64-bit update finally came out for Sims 3.)

I feel like at this point EA is just cashing in on the undying fans who refuse to give up on the franchise because The Sims have been apart of their life for so long. The community has told them EXACTLY what they want for years and somehow they continue to go in the opposite direction. One time I watched a livestream where a Sims guru said that nobody played with children when they’re one of the main life styles simmers wish had more bulk to it. It truly speaks to the fact that they’re making a game for themselves instead of the people who are actually paying for and supporting it.

Amazing second part!! I do enjoy TS4 a lot, but my playstyle with this game is fundamentally different from the way I played TS2 or TS3. That means, at least to me, it's a fundamentally different game. To me, the main problem is also personality: whims and aspirations are basically tutorials as you said. And traits have little effect on sims personalities. The exception are: parenthood traits, sentimens and snowy escape lifestyles. Those (which are later additions ) are very well made IMO and truly affect gameplay.

incredible video !! I found the part about Lindsey's interview especially interesting since personally, as i am mostly a sims 2 player, i do fall into that "i wanna have complete control over my sims and their stories" crowd. however, i still find myself frustrated at the sims 4, since for a long time there weren't anything that could come close to the "memories" system my game had, as well as anger in the sims 2 that could last for over a week which is evidently quite some time in a sims lifespan. I haven't played that much with the sentiments, although they're a right step in the direction for me, because i find that i still lack elements of my game showing me the consequences of my actions. i feel like if you enjoy controling and creating stories in the sims, then you want it to be stored somewhere, aka the memories in the sims 2, or you could even create stories by taking pictures and adding captions. also, the reason why i enjoy such control is because the sims 2 provided me with a base to work with or against. contraints nurture creativity, it doesn't kill it.

This breakdown of The Sims 4 really shows how rich and nuanced the systems in TS2 and TS3 are compared to TS4. TS2 and TS3 sims feel much more realistic, alive, and interesting, while TS4 sims are flat, boring, but also like psychotic ? ESPECIALLY NPCs. NPCs in TS4 act so bizarrely and chaotically that I tend to avoid community lots tbh, it breaks what little immersion I had to begin with.

39:19 This is why I stayed with Sims 3 and decided to spend more money on Sims 3, even after I bought Sims 4. The "full" autonomy and details of the Sims 3 world is what makes the game feel so immersive, and despite of its barbie-like aesthetics, Sims 3 really feels like the real life being converted into a video game. Not to mention the Sims 3 CAS allows players to create IRL outfits in the games easily, because of its build-in texture and re-colouring system.

I WISH they were just specialized packs instead of always hiding like one really good item. (Parenthood is actually fantastic though)

She had a very good point about the prices too. If they halved the prices of DLC it would fall more in line with standard piecemeal practices. They're basically doing what they did on the Sims 3 Store, except you have to buy the whole set instead of just the key item you want. Another issue is the lack of intergration. Every Sims 3 town had a lot that would be converted to fit a later expansion. When you loaded the world it would suggest converting a particular lot into a seasonal lot or elixer store. The closest thing Sims 4 has to that is new recipes available in restaurant menus, the occasional inclusion of new club activities and a pretty wide range of things you can sell on Plopsy. They could easily do something like adding magic realm options to the base game woodworking table (which mods have done) or letting you upgrade University bots with Eco Living eco parts.

This video series is amazing!! I miss The Quxxn!💜✨ Back when Sims 4 came out I made a video on it and it was the 1 time the Sims added one of my videos to their channel playlist and I got so much backlash because of what I didn't like about it. It's so funny how years later people agree with me lol. I always described Sims 4 base game as Sim 1 and 2 remastered. My game was so buggy with the emotions that my Sims had a different mood in every room they walked into and it stopped them from really functioning. I stopped playing Sims 4 for 5 years and then when I played it again those initial bugs were gone, but I still didnt really enjoy it. I don't own any of the packs because I don't really like how different themes are all split up and 1 pack doesn't feel like it's enough to add to my story. I don't want to pay for things that should have been in the base game. Taking away the open worl and having to sit though a waiting screen makes me feel like I might as well play Sims 2 lol. I do enjoy watching people build in The Sims 4. I still prefer to play Sims 3. I feel like Sims 3 was ahead of it's time.

I dated a beta tester for EA who worked on The Sims 4 right before release (he even got me an advance copy but I couldn't play it because I had a Mac at the time and only the PC was available). He wasn't actually all that familiar with the franchise, but answered some of my questions. Every answer made me angrier. When he told me about the pools I was ready to scream. And then he told me EA actually wanted to make toddlers PAID DLC. I straight up told him if they did that there would be riots because that is bullshit. Finally I showed him some of my Sims 3 games to try and demonstrate why so much of what he was telling me was so bad because he really, really wasn't getting it. After a few hours of fucking around in Isla Paradiso with my family the Merders, he looked a bit ill and was like, "oh shit, this really is going to be a disaster. Sims 4 has nothing on this."

I was having fun with my sims 4 game for a while until I realized most of what was going on I was making up in my head and then making my sims play it out. Nothing happened on its own. To be fair, I had the same problem with Sims 3. If you're the kind to get a narrative in your head, you get ahead of the actual gameplay one way or the other. That said, there is very little consequence for playing certain ways. I have Sims with terrible reputations and it only changes the flavor text of unsolicited phone calls. Occasionally I get a gift-wrapped rotten fish in my mailbox. Club reputation (which you purchase in-game) does more to sway impressions of you then your actual reputation or traits.

This is so well put together and edited. I definitely agree with you that the only way you can get a lot out of Sims 4 gameplay is with your imagination. The saves I’ve played the longest have been challenges like 100 Baby or the Decades Challenge because the story is set out for me, and I do like that aspect because then I have full control to make the story how I want. But I remember in the Sims 3 I could play with just a normal family for YEARS. Definitely pros and cons to both, I wonder if there’s any way in Sims 5 they could make it so you could customize it so you could turn story progression on/off, etc.

I loved how in Sims 3 it was sooo difficult even have multiple relationship because of gossip, lol. Also, I remember having my own idea of a story like "ok, so this one will cheat, this other one will discover it but then in some days they will get back because they want things to work". Welp, my sim caught them (as I decided), but then, suddenly, I couldn't do anything, my own sim decided to go to the park (that's why I remember it was on sims 3, or I think...), think about the relationship (sitting on the swing, cutipie, also you could see that "cloud" thing with the face of the other sim), HE WAS HELLA SAD. And HE DECIDED that he wanted to break up with her. I didn't want any of that, he, alone, decided this. I guess you can expect that, after that, they couldn't stand each other and never got back together, even if I tried many times lol. It was, honestly, something amazing. Also loved the storylines in Sims 2, having supposed murders, affairs, the militars hating the alien family... damn, I miss so much of those things, Sims 4 don't even have like 50% of the interactions... One of the reasons why I stopped buying things from Sims 4 and just installed Sims 2, probably will install Sims 3 soon, lol.
