I listen to this every morning. Im 2 years clean of meth, 3 years clean of heroin, 1 year clean of coke, and 9 months sober from a half gallon of whiskey a day. I honestly can relate to this. Drinking cost me a 17 year relationship, my dignity, pride, self respect and almost my life. 1 year and 159 days later and I'm still counting days... but I'm also still breathing. Instead of counting Tallboys I'm counting reps in the gym. Instead of running from my problems I'm running miles. I don't have millions of dollars. Hell, I don't even have that many friends. But, for the first time in almost 2 decades I'm proud of who I am and where I'm headed. At 40 years old you could say half my life is behind me. I say the better half lies ahead.

Heroin was my demon, I struggled for 5 year’s. It took me longer to mend relationships with family, & friends because I lost my self while taking them with me. My mom passed away it took me then to open my eyes to her wise words I needed to be the women I am today. Addictions are hard but you’re always bigger then those demons.

I was on the rigs doing heroin & oxy with my driller when I was 17. Had a girlfriend freak out and slit her wrists with a broken mirror because I wouldn't give her a line. Crashed my truck drunk with a duffle bag of drugs, and ran from the cops... And everything in between.. to then having kids and seeing success through my own business which ultimately shadowed my own issues until they ran out of control and I had everything to lose. Needless to say - it took a lot of hard work, faith, prayers and support from meetings for me to see, and FEEL the light on the other side. Shouting out all the recovering addicts, and current addicts who are trying to get sober .. don't give up.

My friend is getting help in the hospital for doing drugs and wanted to end his life. His girlfriend and I have been wanting him to get better. He is a warrior no one understands the nightmares someone has to deal with so they fall into drug use. From past pains and such no one knows the pain of addiction until it happens to them. He is doing something many dont do he wants to get better wants to be better dad and a better person. We love him for trying and for fighting so long.

This song hit home, started drinking when I was 17 and deal with depression. I drank for 17 years daily. Suicide attempts, mental breakdowns, showing up to work drunk, constantly hung over, drinking before I could leave the house to see anyone, my addiction was part of me for so long. NA, went their in deep as Texas with a bunch of other military in Red River. They gave us drugs to just shut up and keep it moving. I got out, all the people were amazed at how much i helped everyone else there. Still had my security clearance taken away and was asled politely to separate. I’m coming up on 10 months free from alcohol. The best thing I did after getting my 7th dui charge, wrecking my car ( no one was hurt but me) , having a near death experience, I went to rehab, got involved with AA and completely surrendered my life to Jesus, who rescued me from destruction.
