So nice to watch a pro installer guide us looky-loo's. Very good video! Mounting the solar panels: To max energy research the best angle based on your latitude. Build a semi-stud (only studs) structure with a vertical back for attachment to the shed and angled front for mounting all the panels at the correct sun angle. Sitting down low permits easy cleaning and negates possible wind damage. 🤠

Solar powered mimi split is not hard, even a battery powered split is easy enough. I converted my whole house HVAC to a mini split system that runs on solar and battery. You can power anything electrical with solar the only issue is having enough solar output. Ideally there really should be batteries in the system to stabilize the power output otherwise your split will cycle on and off with the sun or if grid tied it will cycle on and off the grid. Thank you for the video, keep up the good work.

If I paid a professional to install a mini split? (A/C UNIT) and they started to tighten a brass fitting using channel lock players ??? I would fire them on the spot. Pretty nice that they make a unit that is efficient enough to run directly off of your panels, and still cool a fair amount of space! I like the fact that they come pre-charged so you don't have to screw around with soldering lines, and vaccing down the system, and charging, and whatnot. That can literally take longer than installing the system in some cases! 😉

Running 2 ea 9k mini hp’s 31 & 30.5 seer. 2 ea 2 ton 20 & 16 seer and 1 es 1.5Ton 16 seer hp, 1 9K 23 seer hp in my work van with 1600W on roof😊. p/u 1 5/8 x 1 5/8 unistrut 40’ or so, prime/paint if you choose for rust prevention, bolted to roof using lag bolts, washers, winshield urethane or hvac silicone to seal and hold better/prevent rust/leaks, 3/8” spring nuts, 3/8” ss bolts 2.5” or so, large ss fender washers. 4 sets for one panel or if panels are side by side share hdwr. I use a large socket and a large punch to make washers “Belleville” or cupped. You need a 1 3/8” length (thickness of your frame) of gray 3/4” pvc or block of pt wood to go under washer if not holding another panel down. Tighten everything snug (not super tight to break glass) using anti seize on bolts to prevent galling.

Hi, I'll recomend to install a shade where the panels are set at the side in the video and you will add a shade and used the panels as the roof of the shade structure

You need a torque wrench to follow the manufacturer's spec. You also need to evacuate the lines with a vacuum pump and gauges to remove air and water vapor from the lines prior to releasing the freon. A nitrogen pressure test may be beyond many DIYers. So, hold the vacuum for at least 20 minutes. A few hours even better.
@TaddyDigest
@TaddyDigest 11 днів тому
If you watch the video, you will see that. I recommended a torque wrench in the video Also, if you read the manual for this specific model of equipment, you will know that a vacuum is not required

I bet you punched a hole in the drain plug LOL. I love the way you read instructions and attached the wires into the Head unit before instillation LOL. And your hole was just perfect showing below the unit LOL. Don't worry about the metal screws leaking behind the bracket LOL. Don't worry about the rain getting in the exterior hole where the silicone did not get and be sure not to cap it with a rain protector either LOL.

I went back and missed the wattage of those panels I'm all solar and wind power. Every system I design is governed by the total load requirements. I need that data and the cost of that unit. Don't need the panels I've got 3600 watts solar and adding.more plus 4 great wind gennies. The panels you have are larger than mine and wonder what voltage they are and amp ratings. Thanks. Subbed and following. Dandahermit

Is there any way to mount the solar panels so the short end hangs off the roof? The overhang will shade the shed side a little bit, and it might help the panels get rid of some heat, too. Make sure you use standoffs to allow airflow under the panels, too.
@TaddyDigest
@TaddyDigest 23 дні тому
I thought about doing that I'm just unsure of the weight added to the shed roof because the panels are quite heavy

This is a great vid. I was always curious if you could run these things of solar. I was just a bit puzzled when on occasion you speak in rooster language. Did not know what you were saying at 21:35 and 23:28 and a few other times, but I guess it was not that important.

if a person can carry the outside unit then you defintely dont need those support brackets for the indoor unit. Indoor units are extremely light weight. you can hold it with one hand and push the pipes with other hand easily.

Question 🙋‍♂️ I you wanted to, could you have cut the copper tubes to size and solder the two parts together? So you won’t have that extra tube wrapped like that?
@TaddyDigest
@TaddyDigest 20 днів тому
Yes, you can, but you would have to pull a vacuum and nitrogen pressure test at that point

This is a truly excellent video on how to install a mini split. Thinking I will be using this tutorial if and when I need to replace mine. One thought,....likely a regional thing, but I notice your frequent use of "Take and...." before words like, "Use", "Push", "Put" etc. I have heard this before,.....might be a Tennessee thing. Just Push, Put, or Use,.....without the "Take and..." Might not feel right to you if you grew up with everyone saying "Take and...." Otherwise,....a great tutorial,...thanks for taking the time to video, edit and post it for us to learn from.

Cam you also connect the 115vac side and it use that when the panels aren't producing enough? 115vac would be coming from a pure sine wave inverter from the battery bank . Also whats the wattage and start up wattage? Awesome video

While mounting on the studs is obviously the best practice, when your wall is 1/2 ply, there's no wrong place to hang it. No way in hell that air handler is falling off the wall mounted to the ply.
