One design issue I think, is you squeeze the stem and click it twice to advance your songs. On 3rd gen you tap the large speaker. The difference is by grabbing the stem each time, you tend to loosen the bud fit in your ear. Not always, but the bud falls out a few times while running. The old tap to change never had that problem for me. I would not have changed that tap function. That said, the newer Pro version sticks in the ear, almost airtight if you want that. I do not like that Airtight fit. So that's why I'd stay with this version as the best trade off of comfort, use, and overall feel.

How does ambient mode work vs their last get when it comes specifically to road noise (walking along a busy road) or wind noise racing against your ears (like walking around on a windy day/biking/etc) ? Because last gen sucked for this stuff in ambient mode.. AirPods Pro handle these specific annoyances way better in my opinion. Which for these style of headphones you need to get right, these are active headphones which means should prioritize getting ambient and ANC modes right. I still use my AirPods Pro often I sold my Sony earbud (last gen of these whatever the name is) to a friend who lives them. recently started using my AirPods Pro when shooting guns and for general ear protection when doing outdoor activities like mowing the grass and stuff because Apple has updated them more recently and while not everyone can find a difference, I have, I think Apple increased range ANC cancels and better managing transparency mode to block louder sounds better atleast I think….

I dont know why but I used those buds 4 hours yesterday with ANC and it took around 55% battery. Today did the same and it took around 80% ...what is taking so much battery? Maybe because of LDAC?

I buy to wish for wireless earbuds for just $5 +shipping and works the same as other competators. 3 hrs life before charge and the case can charge up the wireless earbuds upto 3 times before low battery.

Wish I liked these as much as everyone else. They sounded so good, but they were so uncomfortable for me. Airpod Pros, Jabras, Galaxy Bud pros, and a lot of other wireless earbud almost feel like I'm wearing nothing. These on the other hand cause pressure and at times pain no matter which way I tilt them or which ear tips I wear. This it the first time I've had this much of a problem with comfort in a wireless earbud.

Pretty sure you aren't quite wearing these in the right position. The copper ring nub thing should sit in that bottom nook of your ear, just above your lobe. So it looks like you need to twist them clockwise a touch. And then they might sit more flush?

Does anyone know if these earbuds can quick disconnect from a device. What I mean is, say for example I have the XM4's paired (NOT connected) to my phone and laptop. I then connect the XM4's to my phone. If I want to switch the connection to my laptop, can I simply just go to the bluetooth settings on my laptop and hit connect WITHOUT having to go on my phone and disconnecting first? The pixel buds are able to do this where you can "steal" the connection from another device without having to disconnect on that device first.

Why won't Sony adopt the Bose perfectly comfortable Silicone ear tips which snuggle into the groves in the ear? I have the Bose QC20 and the tips are very secure and very comfortable in the ear even for long periods. I was hoping that WF-1000XM4 will include such tips, as there's no way in the world that earbuds which secure themselves using pressure inside the ear tunnel would be as comfortable as the Bose tips. Now I'm disappointed. The only reason I think of for not adopting the clearly superior Bose design is that Bose might have a patent for it.

I look forward to getting the XM4 when my XM3's battery life has declined significantly.

Good effort from Sony. Though considering the price tag, total battery life still on the low side(24 hours). There are others that offer 32 hours for as little as $80 with aptx codec and decent ANC. Nevertheless, I'd like to try these too.
