Oliver tree made “jerk” a song that sounds very different from miss you which contains the vocals in this song. Miss you was originally posted as a remix on SoundCloud as SoundCloud doesn’t have any issues with copyright. Once this song became popular a record label helped southstar make this legal. @@micahwaterbury I think you got it wrong. The Lyrics do belong to Oliver Tree's Jerk, that's correct. SouthStar asked Oliver Tree for permission to sample his voice. He denied. SouthStar recorded the vocals himself to avoid any legal trouble. Robin Schulz still plagiarized his beat, there is no denying that. So Miss You does belong to SouthStar, it's his original work.

@@Mmat2016 then you're clearly not aware of how modern (eg. house) music works. 99% of songs are not original, they're using samples of/remixing already existing songs without crediting the original, that's not stealing because producers not copying a whole song, for this instance southstar only took the vocals, but the beat is entirely else and changed the sound of the vocal too. Robin Schulz commited the real stealing because he didn't give anything more to this remix, just copied it.

Nah, the guy got full rights over his version. Granted he uploaded it originally without it but B1 records helped him and contacted the original three writers being Oliver himself, David Pramik and Marshmallow. Those three allowed him to do it and he did it the propers legal way and then released this version. Oliver was aware knew of the song and still copied it. And no he did not take the most important part he changed the Beat, Rhythm, Melody, instruments and even the vocals are re-recorded. What’s happened is they’ve take the song put it under the name of an already established name and stopped on an up and coming artist.

@@josiahperea5062 The singer Oliver Tree first made a song called 'Jerk' A few years later, Southstar made a song with the same lyrics (but a different singer) and Oliver allowed him to use the lyrics and publish the song as his. Then a few days after, Robin Schulz produced the exact same track but this time using the vocals and permission of Oliver Tree himself. Schulz published the song as a collab with Oliver. Schulz's management admitted he technically stole the song, though.
