James Bond 007

It’s silent assassin versus superspy in this clip from SPECTRE (2015).
Director Sam Mendes said of Hinx: “Dave Bautista is really scary when he does his stuff. He’s incredibly fast for such a huge man and there’s an unstoppable, unbreakable aspect to the character.”

@@johnsilcox8 This whole scene is actually realistic in the sense that no 78 Kg guy (Daniel Craig) could hope to win against a 131 Kg behemoth (Dave Bautista) hand to hand without tricks. Much less in a narrow space. A man of that size comes at you like that and you are pretty much done if you insist on a fair fight. To keep pretending that "size doesn't matter" in situations like that is utterly dumb.

Brilliant fight scene. No soundtrack, no excessive quick cuts. The execution is smooth. Bond is incredibly outmatched therefore the stakes are high. It feels authentic in that Spinx isn’t Oddjob he’s not invulnerable to attacks, notice how he blocks incoming projectiles and he swiftly disarms bond from the knife. Little details like this along with the setting of a train make it so regal. Cinematography is excellent the use of lighting and blocking is consummate. The choreography is tight there’s a fluidity to it, it’s not drawn out, instead it’s fast paced and ferocious. I like the fact that Spinx went out hard making it the icing on the cake. Perfect example of the underdog (Bond) using the environment to their advantage. Perhaps the best fight scene ever in a bond film. Nothing stylistic or cliched, just a sequence that is onerous and undeviating. It’s an adrenaline rush. Craig and Dave sold it beautifully.

But whats really interesting is that Bond is "only" tired from trying to dodge Hinx‘s punches. If you look carefully, this fight is less one sided than the audience might think. Because when it comes only to sheer physical pain, Bond still has the upper hand as he manages to land quite a lot of punches. So I would say, while Hinx is clearly stronger, Bond is the better fighter… And because of that, fighting Bond gave Hinx a harder time than he probably expected.

My fave James Bond fight, easily. And it's got one of the best fake-outs ever - 1:10 Hinx is on fire, so you think that he'll burn to death, just like the bad guy in other fight scenes. Nope, Hinx recovers.🤯

Noah Lach I thought that was a good choice - establishes the fight as a gritty serious brawl. The campy Hollywood move getting immediately smacked down makes Bond seem more vulnerable.

The best how calmly he takes off his jacket and smothers the fire. "I've been on fire before." Or he went to John Wick's tailor for a flame retardant suit.

For my personal taste, this is the best fist fight scene in the series. Otherwise, I think SPECTRE is pretty underrated. I have it on 11 above Skyfall in my ranking. Though I totally get why it gets so much hate..Maybe it has to do with the fact that I wasn‘t such a big 007 fan back when it came out as I am now. If I would have been a huge Bond fan back then, I think I also wouldn‘t have liked it. Maybe Craig wasn‘t given the best material with this film but there is no denying that Craig himself gives his best Bond performance here.

Eoghan Dolan I think in Skyfall, he looks bored and a bit off. Quantum of solace is also a terrible film but again, Craig himself is amazing in Quantum! Throughout his era, Craig’s Bond was developping and becoming the James Bond that we know. In Spectre Craig‘s Bond has reached this point and finally became the James Bond we love

A shining star in an otherwise bitter disappointment. Between this movie and Guardians of the Galaxy, Dave Bautista has proven himself to be quite a excellent actor. I hope he continues to branch out in the future.

The reference is from russia with love. In the movie, 1963, Between sean connery & the villian having a train fight, but bond uses a special weapon in his suitcase. But in 2015, bond doesn't have a gadget! This is quite different...

Spectre was a long awaited return to the retro feel of Bond, the charming sophisticated secret agent with humour, women and henchmen from the Sir Connery and Moore era, rather than the generic action hero they’ve been trying to make him. Fan service to the OG fans, the new generation trash Spectre just because they can’t sit through a few minutes without a bloody explosion or some super fast shaky cam fight or parkour, rather than quality humour and conversations as in the old movies.
