The wrost beating i got was after i got the restraining order he got a 300 dollar fine that they took my tax refund to pay since we were technically still married but i made it out alive and have been happily married to a good man 28 years . To all my sisters who didn't RIP . Amie sounds like a light the world needed .

I watched her 48 hour video just a little while ago and this case still shocks me. I watched Amies videos a lot during my first more serious relationship after a long time a few years ago, to kinda prepare myself but also learn more about myself and how to be a better Partner. I learned a lot from her videos, not just about relationships, but also as a Psychologist at the end of his Bachelor back then for my future job. When I saw her face on with the 48 hour mark appear on my recommended page my heart sank into my stomach. I hadn't known. The world lost someone important in Amie. This case is absolutely heartbreaking

This story is heart wrenching and so sad. I struggle with the roommate - first ignores the broken glass, then loses his phone, then doesn’t grab a weapon to try and intervene or save her, doesnt exit out the front door & becomes sort of locked in the gates … I know he didn’t kill Amy and her ex is the scary psychopath but it’s hard to understand his actions and in-actions. He knew she was terrified of her ex and was being extra cautious. The killer was in the house waiting for her for quite awhile, so much opportunity to have maybe saving her life. P.s. it is so horrible hearing all the time about crazy insane ex’s that can’t get over the other and kill. I know the statistics are like 1 woman every 30 minutes around the world. If it’s not killing, it’s beatings, stabbings, shootings, staking, terrorizing their ex etc.

As a guy who is easily hurt romantically; It breaks my heart that she was so considerate and mindful of his feelings: and yet he was so cold, so selfish, so unimaginably heartless. She did everything - not only right - but with kindness and compassion and love for fellow feeling people. But he was not a person and had no feelings for anyone but himself. She could have helped so many people through hard times and she deserved, had earned, and was owed by the universe - a happy, long life filled with love. I find a world where things could be otherwise unacceptable, and very hard to live in. I hope there is something better than this to come for her, and for every nice, decent or even just harmless person you cover Emma. I find your series hard to watch, often completely heartbreaking, but I think people need to be aware of the world we live in. Love to everyone, see your therapist, forgive, let others love, and let yourself love, life is too short and too unfair as it is.

My friends and l have been discussing this a lot lately, how these beautiful, intelligent, vibrant, strong women find themselves in relationships with absolute monsters. You’ve unpacked it very well and that damaged sense of self worth is such a target for abusers. We all think “one red flag and I’m out”, but it’s just not that way. We want to care, to fix, to help. These monsters know that. Somehow we need to find a way to teach people their value, their self worth. Here in Australia 25 women have been murdered in acts of domestic violence since the beginning of the year. A lot of women have just decided to keep away from relationships because of this feeling of not being safe. This case is a worst case scenario realised. Poor Amie, she deserved everything good. Thank you Emma, you are absolutely the best.

I totally agree that should have been a lifetime restraining order. Having had stalking problems with my ex husband in 2002, he was charged with harassment and told to stay away, to see him now would still make me feel vulnerable and unsafe so yes, it should be a lifetime restraining order. As an adopted child who later adopted my child, thank you for putting into words the vulnerability adopted children have. It isn’t something you are conscious of, but I can look back at prior relationships and see how I hung on much longer than I should have. My son is going through this now and I can see the similarities. It isn’t a reflection on our parents (mine were amazing and my son says the same about my husband and me) it is just a part of us that feel like failures letting go. We always think we can “fix” it. I didn’t learn about this until I got out of a DV relationship and entered therapy.

I had it for 6 years yet we were together on and off 3 years overall. Police didn’t listen. He stalked me and was proven. Got away with it. Sent him to prison 3 times for safeguarding issues and in the end I had a brain haemorrhage and a stroke. You don’t see it coming until it’s too late. Trust me ladies. It never Gets better only worse. Get out if you can. Mine wouldn’t leave me alone no matter what!!

Every so often I dig into this case because it is SO heartbreaking. Amy was a huge inspiration to me as a social worker. I worked for a pretty notable international charitable organization and I worked very closely with domestic abuse prevention organizations, women’s shelters, human trafficking survivors and s*x workers. She was such a light for good! And her book is great! She is as a truly beautiful woman, inside and out. And for him to come after her after 8 YEARS?! Just unbelievable. I pray she is at peace and I am forever grateful to her for inspiring me in my professional and personal life.

Emma is such a great storyteller. She makes stories come alive and give a voice to the victims of crime instead of idolising the perpetrators. I wish she would tour in Ireland once.

Your delivery on this case Emma is AMAZING, You're non judgemental, respectful manner is outstanding! This one has triggered me tbh, I've been through DV & stalking twice (I actually finally got the strength to leave the 2nd time because of YOU!!) The simple fact is, women are NOT protected. The way the law is, only once a serious crime is committed and proven is when punishment is dealt. I had a NMO against my ex who tried to unalive me in public in front of my 2 sons, he was given a custodial but in a very holiday camp type prison, released early on tag with bail conditions. During the 3 yrs I had the NMO, he breached his bail conditions on 3 separate occasions, all had witnesses and proof and despite that, because he hadn't actually Assaulted me again, the NMO wasn't re-issued??? The sad fact is, until a woman is unalived, the abuser isn't punished enough and by then, it's too late. More needs to be done. RIP to this beautiful angel taken too soon and anyone, man or woman who is experiencing DV, CC, manipulation etc, LEAVE. We all underestimate when we're in that situation that the worst will actually happen to us, but it could do. This angel KNEW but still tried to tell herself it would never happen to HER. Learn from this story

As a adoptee who was adopted at 13 months with failure to thrive and severe neglect in foster care prior . My mother had to put me in therapy at 11. A psychiatrist at 16 had me read Primal Wound. It is a book I didn't actually read until 22. It completely describes what the adoptee goes through.

Emma my 15 year old daughter and I have been watching u for a long time we love that u genuinely care about the victims and ur "it should have been punishments" this case was one I followed a little and it is heartbreaking coming from someone with first hand experience with stalking why is this something we have to petition for before legislation will bother i still fear my stalker every once in a while and though he walked right through 3 of the ones filed i still felt better having it and didn't feel ridiculous when dealing with the law.i believe if they are repeating violent offender. Lifetime RO'S SHOULD AT LEAST BE AN OPTION

I can't believe he had a go at her at an awards ceremony 8⃣ years after their so called relationship ended. Eight years is a massive amount of time in your life. He carried that on resentfully. Crazy. And yes I do agree that something should be put in place as he was smirking in court. I've seen it such a lot recently. Maybe a wet fish would suffice, I don't know. Or a whole library of heavy hard back books. It's disgusting that a judge allows it. I think they should be removed and be made to wait even longer for the outcome of their crime. RIP Amie❤❤
