You have to understand the culture these young black men are trying to project, and why they don’t feel 80% of what they’re learning can be applied to their professional lives! The NIL rules limit your effectiveness as a Professor or Coach. 90% of all NFL players are only in the league 3-5 years, so now what? Most of them won’t play after college.

This is nothing new. College athletes have always had a different standard in the classroom. I am an RN and graduated with a BSN but some of my classes had athletes. They would show up with no books and ear buds listening to music and have passing grades. I worked full time and attended class full time to obtain my degree. These athletes have a free ride and most never study or do homework and yet now colleges are now paying them to be athletes. College athletes now even more feel entitled because they now get a salary while we who take student loans and grants struggle.

Deion and Stephen A. Smith are correct for getting on their asses. One commentors tried to say it was Coach Prime's fault. He's wrong. This is not high school where the coaches have nothing to do but walk around making sure that grown men or doing something they said they wanted to do. Go to college and play football to try to better their lives, cause football doesn't come with a guarantee you will make it to the pros. That's a one in a 1000 chance. Only 253 players get drafted and only about 75 of them will make a team. Those fools better wake up and take that free education before they end up paying for it themselves, if they can afford it. They better wake up. The day of the dumb athlete has been gone. Even if you just want to be a gym teacher, you still have to pass the state certification. Wise up guys, you're getting the chance to better yourself and your life one way or the other and for free. A lot of people would love to be in your place. My son is coming for your spot if you don't want it and he wants and Engineering Degree .

I’m sure professors say this about players on all teams across the country. It’s always a few players that just don’t get it when it comes to education. I played D1 football.. It happens all the time. This was just made public because people don’t want to see Colorado succeed… Coach Prime will address this and the players will respond. This is nothing Steven A.. I like what Smith did here. I wish more people period were called out. Everything he said was true. It doesn’t matter if he was trying to look out for his buddy or not, it was true. Colorado isn’t the only place this is going on though. It’s the norm unfortunately. Kids, that’s what these athletes are, believe what they see. If they see that this isn’t acceptable then it will resignate with more of them. Some will be too arrogant to change, those are the ones you send packing. Go ahead and get them use to what life has in store for that mind set.

Stephen a great message I am at the message should not just fall on athletics is it fall on young high school grade school kindergarten students as well if they are 40 kids in the classroom and one bully all A one person disturbing the class not only is he hurting himself but he’s hurting the other 39 students that’s trying to understand and take it to the next level get rid of the one save the other 39 he series on there as a distraction holding up success for the 39 to the parents and this is high school in in in junior high school student let the parent take responsibility for their kid that’s the distractor however that is why the professor had to write a letter to Dieon because Dieon who is my personal friend is the parent of the football players of Colorado and Dieon handled it well with his locker room speech to his athletes not trust that I do know Dieon will correct the situation dieon is hands-on and Dieon will probably go to class and sit in that class to make sure that his players do what he and what is expected of them to do and Dieon if not will cut that player that does not want to do the right thing in class even if it means giving up a championship Dieon dieon does not play when it comes to discipline I know that and he will correct the situation heads off to the professor heads off to Dieon Go ahead Prime handle the situation Steven hey you said and dead right now I watch you every morning and I’ll do the day you are you are you standing up my brother and standing up

Did I miss something? Everything SAS just laid out is a reflection of a coach with major flaws in his program build. These are kids that have to be led into adulthood on all levels. If my coach sets a tone for arrogance and self promotion, then me, as the college student, is going to follow his lead. SAS is talking about Colorado's disappointing season last year as if Deion wasn't a part of it. This is a program problem, not just the athletes.

you point is valid …FOR YOU! NOT for what the culture and climate is now! Kids 12-18 who don’t have the Will to better themselves or parents don’t have enough time to be mother and father. Again you need to see what the climate is. We have wonderful success stories but as for the masses. We are not doing well at all! You know what race is at the bottom for SAT scores? BLACK AMERICAN! Our reading at a subpar level, and our ambition and drive is all at below the standard or in the wrong direction. So when you have someone like Stephen A who has a platform to explain why this is bad to a mass audience it needs to be addressed. Parents need to hear this. Students need to hear this. Don’t even have me to talk about where we stand when it comes to our civic duty. We both have different opinions but the reality and fact of the matter is. There’s a sense of entitlement amongst the black community, our standard has been diminished, and there’s room for MUCH improvement. ✌🏾

No one gave a damn about Colorado for the past 10-15 years. Now Prime is there and it’s Colorado this and Colorado that! And they Only won 4 games! What’s a trip is this…. Because of who Coach Prime is anything less than a championship he is failure. Not just the football program but the entire atmosphere is different. He is right Coach Prime hasn’t done anything but win 4 games and get a few players that would never even consider playing there. If he consistently gets the program better and win a championship will you give him his just due or will the attitude be…. So what that’s what he supposed to do??

It's not because when the kids hit the portal the first person they blame is Coach Prime. When the young men are not on the field they blame Coach Prime so they are on camera with everything else...let them be held accountable for their actions. Why would Prime be responsible but everything is handed to them and all you have to do is study and be serious about your work.

This should have never been made public. College student-athletes being disruptive in class, really? It's an indictment of those student-athlete's character; and the Head Coach addressed it. Why is this a topic on a shock journalist platform on ESPN? Stephen A can't fill a 5 minute segment with nothing better than to rip a bunch student-athletes? These are 18,19,20, and 21 year olds in college being immature. Nothing more, and the one that needed to address the situation did so, end of story, case closed.

You think it’s just in Colorado? This is a National issue in particularly with my young black American students. Take the time a volunteer or even be a substitute teacher in the predominant black American surburban and then you come back with a response.

I had multiple knives pulled on me by 3 thirteen year olds after pulling them off of a older man because he was stoping them from saying nasty stuff to his daughter while they were playing tennis at my local school. Then cops say they can’t do anything.when adults protect this type of behavior. Then when will it end.all I know 40 year olds living in mom and dads basement.
