The VW group 4 liter turbo V8 has a very unusual sound, I remember hearing a Cayenne Turbo that sounded like a tractor just like this RS6. Still great cars and great engines, but their sound is certainly... distinctive.

Am I right in thinking Stig didn't use the paddles? I'm not necessarily surprised, plenty of racing drivers don't in road cars even on track, but I'm curious as to why they don't.

Multiple points here: 1. Exhaust valves can be closed, car will be quite silent 2. Thanks to OPF, the sound of the ra6 is not that loud anymore 3. Except you put a microphone to the back of the car or manipulate the exhaust. Go to an Audi dealership and take an ra6 for a test drive.. it's a nice family car

What you heard is from a microphone near the exhaust, so this is a real sound.

I am in the USA and BBC America is showing edited versions of this season's episodes. We don't get to see the cool car stuff. For Episode 1 The SF90 segment was completely missing. Very frustrating BBC America!

It needs DRC suspension. Still not bad run for 2.3t station wagon. But with more sporty optional equipment it would be much better travk car.

That sound though, im guessing but it sounds like high pressure gas going to super low pressure then back to high again through the exhaust? Is it just a meeting of the pressure in a cross over? The shape of the ports? Someone has to know. Edit: why is different bad? What if this is a basic engine? And with one bit of engineering (that happens to produce the distinctive sound) makes just as much power as the competitors that have to wring their engines neck for the same power? Different is not always bad, this could be the sound of all future engines? And you will all be like " yeah i remember when Audi were the only ones kids, they sounded great. 🤣
