Those who said he's grinding the clutch, what he is doing is clutch less shifting which in any case would actually save your clutch life because it never disengages. Clutch less or flat foot shifting is faster in general because there's more time spent accelerating rather than changing gears, and what he most likely has in that car is called a dog box transmission. In short dog boxes are incredibly strong because of their hardend gears and cut of the gear rings. Dog boxes are ideal for racing and really meant to be driven hard and respond well to flat foot shifting

Guys the 1/4 mile is slow, because they're not on a drag strip the road surface has a lot less grip. Also the tyres might be a bit cr*p.

Depends on what you're looking for. If you are referring to the Evo - Sti rivalry, then the Evo is centered more on performance on the track than being a DD, while the STi may not quite stack up with the Evo on the track, it's a much better choice for daily driving. Both are great cars, both with plenty enough power and plenty of room for modifications. It's a win win either way.
