Well there is a level you can only get to by bringing Yoshi to an island in the middle of the water. The way you do that is by using the boats that go by it and one of the ways you can get on said boats is by jumping out of the sewers with Yoshi and landing on the boat at the right moment.

@@Hawlo Yes, but there's a much easier way to get to the boats by going through the sewers near the Pinna Park entrance. There's another island with a coconut tree that's accessible through the sewers where one of the boats goes right past it. You can then take that boat all the way to when it passes a random platform with a banana on it. You can use that to refuel Yoshi's timer and then jump on the second boat that leads to the island with the Yoshi-required course. Don't ask how long it took to figure that out.

The Manta boss of Sirena Beach used to give me nightmares as a kid.

Any Shine involving Yoshi in this game is tedious and boring.

Sunshine is better than 99% of 3D platformers but when stacked up against Mario games it’s definitely in the lower end. I’ve always 100% every Mario game because I find so much joy in doing that but going for all 120 Shines in Sunshine is a miserable miserable experience. The crap you have to put up with to get them all sucks big time. That lillypad secret level, that nightmare Pachinko level, those godforsaken blue coins which the game doesn’t keep track of which you’ve gotten which makes retracing every level for them a freaking chore. Super Mario Sunshine needed 6 more months in development and this collection does nothing to fix any of those problems I had in 2003. None.

The switch analogue controls are far too sensitive.. Half analogue gives full run speed.

Only if they ensure the physics are far less broken, the camera is more tolerable, the game has better post game content (the fact they didn't consider having a modern interpretation of the lost Hotel Lacrima was a missed opportunity with this version of Sunshine), replace the blue coins with something less tedious, have better voice work or rather minimal voice work, follow up on ll Piantissimo potentially becoming the new Shadow Mario or at least causing trouble with the paint brush, that Yoshi can now swim, and have the final level unlock based on the amount of shines as opposed to completing specific episodes.

They could have easily done more. They could have bothered to fix the camera, have dramatically better textures (instead of having slightly better texture), and added in Luigi to pay homage to what they had planned for the scrapped multiplayer feature. It would have also helped if the 3D collection version wasn't based on the controversial Shindou version. For Sunshine; add in a new post game level, a more worthwhile reward for getting 100%, make the blue coins far less tedious, and fix the physics. With Galaxy, no surprise not much needed to be done there. However, that still doesn't excuse Galaxy 2 being missing. As it stands, the 3D collection is not worth full price.
