I’ve only gotten back into gaming recently after gaming a lot in childhood on the NES, SNES and Game Boy. I took a total break during late high school years and college. After college I did have a Wii but more for Just Dance and trivia type stuff. But with the quarantine I was longing for nostalgia and also wanted to try AC. I’ve been playing AC and all of the old NES and SNES Mario games on the Nintendo online. I’m really wanting to try more modern Mario games no matter if they be brand new or ones I missed in my 20s. This is the first one I’ve seen where I looked at it and said “I have to have this”. It’s for the reasons you are saying. It’s like if my childhood imagination could make a dream of what Super Mario World would have looked like in the future this would be it. There is something so happy and exciting about it and it just makes me want to play it. So I completely see what you are seeing. My two favorite games of all time are Super Mario World and Mario 3. So if there are any other switch games you think I might like based on that I’m looking for suggestions. Thanks so much.

it looks just kinda like the lil roll feature thing you could do in 3D Land and 3D World by crouching and hitting sprint, because it immediately transitions into that when mario hits the ground. I've never tried to use this move midair in either 3D World or 3D Land and didn't know it was possible, so they may very well have added this feature, but it doesn't entirely look like the dive from odyssey...
