First one is a masterpiece. Not only platforming, but the soundtrack. So amazing!

Play the original first. You will get a way better understanding of the Meat Boy world.

Because it's a stupid auto runner if it was like the original game then I think people would love it more

I think a lot of it comes from the visuals. For me personally, I don't think the new big line flash art style of the new one looks very good, and the screen is zoomed in far closer than the original. Super Meat Boy had a real distinct style that had really cool uses of lighting on some stages, this one just looks rather flat and uninspired. I was a huge fan of the original, which inspired me to pick up drawing and game development. Although I'm sure this one is mechanically sound, something just seems off about it. I think many people are upset because of the difference in developers this time around. Super Meat Boy gained a huge following not just because of the gameplay, but because of the developers who were discovered through Indie Game The Movie. This time around we don't have Edmund since he left Team Meat, and they no longer work with the original composer, Danny Baranowsky who has some legendary tracks, and for me perfectly suited edmunds art, and the style of Super Meat Boy.
