Never forget the line: no matter how perfect and elegant Fred danced, his partners did the same dance backwards in a dress and high heels!

While we're dusting off that cliche, does anyone want to bet that Astaire couldn't have put on a pair of pumps and done the lady's part too? No, I didn't think so.

That is such an old saw, it isn't even funny anymore. That was in fashion in the late 60's and early 70's. You forget he did a lot of tap solos.

And here I sit, a 50 year old metal head who listens to russian grind core, with a big and happy grin on my face. I can't even say exactly what it is, but those old movies sometimes convey a feeling of easiness and happiness that even the most happy movies nowadays are missing.

Quite right! You know, way back then actors had to be able to sing, dance, drive an automobile, ride a horse, etc. Not like today when they can slur their lines in the name of “etnithity”. I’m pretty glad I live in Italy where everything is dubbed anyway!!

This is one of my favorite dance scenes with Fred and Ginger. His easy style and grace really shines through and Ginger has something of a graceful swagger, which she wields masterfully. They make everything look so smooth and easy, but it took tons of rehearsal to create their art, and I love it. Gosh, they were so talented. I can’t get enough. There’s just something absolutely incomparable about these two. I own all the movies and can’t count how many times I’ve seen them.
