I spent five years in the hospital as a child with a chronic life threatening disease. The Make a wish foundation offered me a dream come true trip wherever I wanted. While I was fighting for my life everyone one I knew moved on. They all focused on their future, dreams and happiness. I made new friendships with other kids spending their last days in that place. I would walk in circles around the hematology floor and see them in their rooms. Over time, each room would be vacant, sanitized and given to the next poor soul. When I finally left, I told myself that I needed to see the world for them. This song simply embodies everything I feel. I miss you guys.

This became a tradition to come to this song on my birthday. Yet again I'm here. But twist. I am no longer unhappy and lonely. I'm actually happy and willing to celebrate my birthday this time. Not even the slightest of suicidal. Proud of myself. Jan 26, 2020 Edit: thank you all for saying happy birthday to me. It means alot to me, especially since i am continuing to fight through the pain with this bipolar depression, and I wish everyone the best on their fight against their everyday demons. Edit: Feb 11, 2023, I haven't came to this song in about 3 years. I had did a lot of soul searching. I've found a passion in writing and I'm almost finished in college. Loneliness still creeps up and depression comes and goes but I don't let it defeat me. I cry and feel the feels and just move on. I'm in a better place mentally and this is without medication. Haven't took medication since 2015, the work was all on my own. Proud of me. And thanks to all who wished me a happy bday and came back to this day every year to do so. I am truly grateful to touch people hearts and inspired others to not give up. This world is truly Lonely but knowing that someone is feeling the same way as you, can make you feel less lonely. I send love to you all. Hope everyone is thriving and happy. ❤️

Im at stage four disease in my late 20's and my boyfriend played this song for me and sang along to this,it broke my heart knowing that this is how he feels and not being able to do anything to help me stay and not die but im glad he found something this relatable so he doesn't feel alone.

i went through school with two learning disabilities my parents refused to let me get diagnosed, and i had no friends due to my struggles with social skills and it didn’t help that i was viewed as an idiot. i was always the “dumb kid” and teachers were ruthless when it came to humiliating me. other kids would always join in too, and i felt like an absolute outcast. eventually, my parents gave up on trying to teach me anything because i couldn’t understand and focused more on my brother who at the time had just got accepted into a really prestigious high class school. i was left basically alone for most of my childhood after that. i managed to make it out of such a dark point of my life thankfully, but those days still haunt me, and every time i hear this song i can’t help but be reminded of how things were back then. it’s hard to think about, but i love this song so much because it helps me feel understood.
