But in Turkic Cosmology, Tengri was actually called Kök Tengri or Gök Tengri with full name - and Gök is the term for "sky". Tengri meant as much as "god" or "ruler", and therefore we would refer to Gök Tengri as "ruler of the sky" or "god of the sky". Thus, Tengri =/= sky itself. As there seems to be a connection between Tengri and Umay, Erlik and the other deities or entities, we can furthermore assume that while Tengri is not sky itself, he is simply a formless entity and invisible to the naked eye. Much like the many "sky gods" of other religions, like Dyeus of Indo-European Mythology.

Because while kinship names such as 'uncle', 'tagay', 'kufduk' and 'aunt' on the mother's side are found in Turkic languages, the names of relatives on the paternal side belong to a later period in Turkic dialects. Land Hawk or we use the name combination and put them together or we use -han suffix and it means lord for males. Batu-han, Berk-han, Deniz-han. Girls generally use -su suffix and su means water. Pelin-su, Bilge-su, Ayşe-su. Some others name are old Turkic and some other are Arabic. But the all names we use dont mean anything together but instead they prounced good and second they have meanings by themselves alone. Just hear this some people has surname "Yılmaz" means unbreakable or indomitable, "Yıldırım" means thunderbolt.

I am a Türk from Türkiye. All nations have the same no matter what other Semitic religion was forcefully thought to them. The real Semites are Hebrew, Arab, Aram, Assyrians. All other nations of the world were forcefully converted to Semitic religons (Judaism, Christianity, Islam) from their original believes back in time. Before Medieval ages majority of the world still believed their original religions and kept their cultures. Turk nation spread all across the world is secular. From Central Europe to Africa and Far east Asia to Eurasia, Türkiye. Arabic Islam, Turk Islam , Fars Islam or North African Islam are not the same with eahother. Same goes for types/sects of Christianity and Judaism among different nations. Additiionally people arent divided through religions among the world but the states and alliances and politics force religion. For example Nato forced green belt Islamism when Soviets forced atheism , Arabs and Fars goverments forced a more strict Islam over their own people for political gains. Bharat Hinduism etc. Majority of the world the people are secular. And to everyone who newly found out about Tengrism, read more about it. You don't have to convert to Tengrism, but if you understand its teachings and philosophy, you won't need to. Before Erdogan's islamist regime, we were a lot more secularist, and we had way, WAY less violence against women. People who physically or sexually attacked women were punished harsh sentences, but now a lot of the time they actually go free. You wear a short skirt and someone rapes you? You asked for it. As a German Turk also called Emre, most other German Turks will laugh at you when you mention that Turk identity is originally from Central Asia and Kazakhs etc. are cultural, many times also genetical cousins. Even when one of their relatives looks like some Persian and the other like a Korean. They have that twisted thought that Turks conquered Anatolia - while being only Anatolian themselves? And you are branded as an apostate when you mention we weren't always Muslims. Even worse are they educated about their native Anatolian heritage like Hittite, Italic etc. Once tried to explain to a student that we couldnt be always Muslims because we Turks believe in only one wife and the Quran mentions 4 and additional sex slaves, the kid got a brainfry and started to shout that the translation must be propaganda, even though I showed him 3 other different translations.

Just an information. Old Turkish word "Tan", means sky, is still used in modern Turkish ocassionally such as in "Tan ağardı". And "Tan" is the first syllable of "Tanrı" means "Tengri" in Turkish.

That's because the stereotype was formed during the colonial era of the 1800s, when most of the western world had exposure with Chinese people only via far south seaports such as Guangzhou and various cities in Fujian province. It was impossible to access China via the north because of the Russians so the only exposure was to the southern Chinese. It didn't help that most of the Chinese who settled in the west during the last 150 years were also Southerners. The Russians likely has a different impression of the Chinese, where they see them as more Turkic-like peoples rather than SE Asians, they even refer to the Chinese as "Kitay", a word derived from Khitan, an ancient para-Mongolic people who lived in Manchuria and Mongolia from the 4th through 13th Century A.D. It's kind of like the blind men trying to describe what an elephant looks like.

Ancient Sinitic people, according to genetic tests, were closer to Koreans, Japanese, Mongols, and some Turkic and Tungusic peoples than to Southern Chinese and SE Asians. In fact before the concept of an unified Han ethnic group had been proposed in the early Republican period, people from Guangdong and Guangxi had never been called Han or Sinitic, instead they were called "Turen" (Natives), "Liren" (Li people, possibly etymologically related to Hlai), and "Liaoren" (Liao people, possibly etymologically related to Laos). Back in the ancient and medieval eras, the name Han was only used to refer to peoples from the Yellow River region. For instance, in the 13th century Yuan Dynasty the Mongols only called Khitans, Jurchens, and Northern Sinitic as "Hanren" (Han people), but they called those from the south of Yangtse as "Nanren" (Southerners). In brief, Southern China had always been different from Northern China, and shouldn't be simply regarded as a continuation or extension of the north.
