I wish the seller would of been honest about the conditions of the tents.

Think you got an amazing bargain there. I can't help feeling a bit bad for the seller that his integrity is being questioned as he could have sold all these for a lot more.

They were a gift at £100. You certainly weren't ripped off. Even suggesting that is insulting.

Nice haul Dan. I actually think the seller may be a scout or cadet leader which would explain why there are multiples of the same tent. Yeah a condition description would have been nice but for the money you did really well. I would like to see a few videos of you repairing and restoring these tents.

I wish we had a source for OEX gear in the US. Sometimes a tent will pop up on ebay, but the shipping from the UK to here is usually as much or more than the tents. Love the channel Dan! Also, kudos to you gents for camping in the rain often. Many of us here are soft, fair weather campers. 😂

I use tenacious tape for many tent repairs. It comes in clear and I've used it to patch tents and even rain gear and other gear. I've not had it come off. When you purchase a bundle of gear like that, its a bit like getting a grab bag. I'd also put some waterproof on the tents that look well used. It wouldn't hurt seam sealing them again.

Can't really complain there Dan. Most would be very happy with that lot.

I would fully expect things to be wrong with them and for them to have defects if you got 6 for £100. If they were perfect condition they wouldn’t have been sold in a bundle very cheap. But the seller should be honest about the condition up front.

What a great deal, well done. iv always fancied the dark green tent but iv never gotten around to getting one. for the £100 and cost of three patches that is a great deal, I'd be really pleased if it was me.

Fantastic collection, just something about the OEX EV tents, great colour, nice looking inners and plenty of guying out points. I was thinking that maybe they were owned by Scouts or other outdoor groups, I seem to remember reading about the Lynx 2 being a popular tent with groups like that. Might explain some of the damage from younger, inexperienced campers. I'm writing this on top of a mountain in the Brecon Beacons in my OEX Cougar EV 2 and I paid £115 for it used, so I'd say you have a one-off bargain with that lot!

Here in the states I wish I could get an OEX tent in any condition! Great deal brother!

Man! you GOT A GREAT DEAL !....like the Cougar 2 , pity they don't make it anymore....but quite happy with my Banshee Pro 200 with my gear storage package so much more room...but should maybe have gone for the Banshe 300 ...

To be honest I'm fairly new to camping and at the minute I'm struggling to know the difference between most tents (like the slight variations etc) I'm excited to learn (and I'm picking up bits of info from UKposts) but I've got a feeling there's going to be alot of trial and error (and probably cold/wet nights 🤣) .....anyway, seems like a great haul to me 👍👍

The seller should be honest about the condition of the tents, I've just bought a one person night cat tent from my mate for £ 60 the condition of the tent was in fantastic condition, thanks Dan for awesome video 👍👏

Couple of years ago I started camping with my 5 year old son, so we started on the cheap, partly because I’m from north Scotland lol so I got a euro hike backpacker 2 for 40 quid , still got it , still in good nick . Keep going with the normal man videos for the normal man 👍

Great value for £100. Just one tent is worth that - Buy One, Get Nine Free! As for repairs, I use clear Gorilla tape, hidden on the inside. It's very strong and aggressively sticky. Also replaces sealing tapes that have come off on jackets and tents. Much stronger than the original!

100 quid for 6 tents, 3 with very minor issues, 1 as new,the others good condition. Ripped off! No way. I think your doing a disservice to the seller with how your implying things without any knowledge. I've got 3 banshees stuck in the loft I've not had up for 4+years and I can't remember if there's a bit of damage to them or not. As for saying he bought them as a job lot (the same as you have) what did he pay for them to make a decent profit £10?. If that's what he's done he would sell them all on separately for a few hundred quid. So that statement just doesn't add up. I think you've got a very good deal and are doing the seller a bit of a disservice. By the way I love your channel so I'm not trolling but l think you hot this one wrong

Good video mate, nothing to whinge about on that deal. 3 simple repairs and why didn’t you have a garden sprayer full of Fabsil handy, it would have saved you putting them up again.

Looks like you still came out on top even if you was misled. Still annoying mind, I bought a tent off amazon, unknown to me some sellers buy returns and knock em out as brand new. my brand new tent had a tear in it. patched it but still, I was fuming for a day or two.

It’s probably been tents bought for a club or DoE (hence the same tents) with kids not being particularly careful. Could also be tents picked up during a festival clearance such as Glastonbury etc. a local charity used to have permission to take tents from the t in the park site before the machines went in to clear it, and they cleaned them and sold them on for the charity.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they didn’t come from “uk outdoor clearance” before it closed down which was a massive outlet shop, it was the outlet store for go outdoors,blacks, millets ultimate outdoors etc etc: which are all the same company so always had loads of really good priced gear from all of those shops and tents that were almost given away in the weeks before it closed down.

Agreed. To be perfectly honest the title is kinda click oriented. Regardless of the sellers backstory you were not ripped off by any means. I would think of it this way. You got what you wanted for cheap. If all the tents were in perfect condition you would have been jumping up and down with delight knowing full well you basically stole them from the seller. Congrats on the more then fair transaction.

3 dupe tents quandary, Possibly a family with older kids who can't/won't share so Dad says to salesman do me a deal and I'll buy three, one for Mum and Dad, one for teen daughter/daughters/mates and one for teen son/sons/mates... Either way I'd call it a good haul and expect some minors repairs to be necessary, Definitely a win in my book marra 👍

To me this screams scout leader/youth worker with unused gear. I'm in youth work myself and in a previous job I came across 6/7 tents in the buildings attic space that had been there for years! I reckon you've got a bargain there for £100, well done!

Not a bad set for the money given it’s fairly easy repairs. My thinking though is maybe they were previously used as DofE/Scout tents, that might explain some of the rips and damage and why they were in a set

Definately looks like a job lot. Possibly clearance of some adventure group that has closed, Or worst case scenario, they have come to you (maybe via several pairs of hands) from a scout group store that was robbed. I am not saying the seller has robbed them, they may just have ended up in his hands, before yours. It would be interesting to see if the Ebay seller has a store and is selling job lots of stoves, etc. too.

I reckon the bloke works for Go Outdoors and he has 'acquired' end of line or returns (damaged) - for next to nothing probably. I don't get the 'kept in a loft' stuff. I doubt it. He has either bought a job lot for the one tent he wanted or just to make money out of someone on the FB group - or he is Go Outdoors staff as I mentioned before. I don't like a second hand tent with someone else's dirt and marks on it. I did buy one which was sold as 'immaculate, used once and very clean'. By my standards, it was not very clean but I washed the dirt off and tried to clean the sticky stuff off the bottom of the bath-tub. I had to buy 2nd hand as there were no new available at the time. People have different standards and some are just dishonest of economical with the truth! Great video though. I enjoyed watching it. Cheers.

I think you've got a really good deal there, Dan. A bargain for £100, even taking into account the bits of damage in some of them. I would imagine the guy you bought them from was probably a trader and maybe trying to make a bit of money, but I'd have thought he would have made more profit by selling them individually as not many people (except you of course) would have a need for 6 tents ;)

Perhaps he was a storeman for a scout, or other outdoor group. The tents have clearly been well used. The fact three are the same tent would be indicative of that in my mind.

We taught our children the importance of taking care of your property. First, because we were a young couple stretching every dollar. But also, it will last so much longer for you in the long run if you take care of it. I always have to tell myself, when I buy things off of Marketplace, that not everyone takes care of their property. They use and abuse their property. As long as you understand that not everyone takes as good of care as you do for your tents, then you'll be fine. I don't believe you were ripped off.

i'd say you've had a heck of a deal there, mate! 5 tents for 20 bucks each? think about it, wouldn't pay for just the frames of them with that much. Everything else can be covered with a few stitches (The last one is the only one i partially like, btw, the other ones are way too small for my taste) Always keep in mind: Used stuff is prompt to have some wear and damage, otherwise it wouln't be used
